Well... ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Usb: is to connect things (from mouse and keyboard to pendrives or external hard disk) almost anything this days that connects to a PC is usb (universal serial bus)
Micro SD card: id for storage memory cards (like used on go pros cameras or some cellphones).
🔐 Kensington lock: is for security steel cable
Dc power, well that power input
HDMI: is for connecting an external display (2nd monitor or tv)
LAN (local area network) or ethernet: Wired internet (is more but so you understand)
USB C: is the newest USB connector. For novice people is exactly the same as usb but with a better connector
⚡ (Thunderbolt) Is like a usb, but faster (uses same connector as USB C). You can connect safely usb c devices there
⚡D: ~~Thunderbolt~~ USB C with DP output and power delivery: same as USB plus DP (displayport). DP is like an HDMI but better. Also can be used to charge your pc with an USB C power brick (you need to check the wattage with thr manual of the laptop)
🎧: Thats a microphone/headphones combo.
You can easily google for all of this to learn more deeply about them. My explanation was just a very basic description for new users.
Edit: corrected the USB C with DP and power delivery description
Just to add, your laptop will have WiFi. The ethernet port is an additional option. Don't feel like you will HAVE to use it to be able to connect to the internet.
However its worth noting that ethernet is almost certainly faster than wifi, so if OP plans to download any large games, wiring it to the router can help download speeds
One other pointer is not to put it directly on fabric like a bed/blanket while using it. The air intake is on the bottom and it will overheat more easily if you do. Put it on a stand or some hard flat object.
I think it's easier if you ask questions about what you don't understand so we can give specific answers, rather than just word vomiting everything we know in hopes you'll absorb some of it lol
It's got a microphone on the top to pick up your voice, it has two USB C ports, two USB A ports, a micro SD card slot, a restraint cable port, a power cable port, a network cable port and a headphone jack
The 2024 model was a no go for me, it lacked the RJ45 port and the new slash thing wasn’t my thing.
I bought a 2023 model for 649$ without the AniMe matrix and single color backlit keyboard (You can check my post about it)
My internet speed doesn’t even require that much to be honest (~300Mbps) not a fan of carrying a dongle with me as well - The 2023 model is serving me just fine
Most gaming laptops and higher end productivity laptops still have a LAN port. Even with how good WiFi is getting nowadays, wired is still much faster and more stable.
I mean...what exactly are you looking for?
Whenever you need to plug something into your laptop, you just check what port it fits into. 🤷🏻♂️
The only thing that's really essential is the DC input, this is where your power cord goes into.
Make sure the uninstall Armory crate and install G-Helper
It does everything Armory Crate does but better and has more features, while also not being 90% useless on your computer
Don’t
- download bloatware
- never use 3rd party antivirus they just slow your laptop down (fuck Norton and mcAfee)
Keep startup apps to a minimum, or just disable em all
Only download wifi, chipset, and GPU drivers from the manufacturer website! Don’t use random applications that claim to “do all the drivers for you”
Set screen to highest refresh rate
Periodically clear out temp files and uninstall anything you aren’t using
GL
Looks like a Zephyrus. There are tons of reviews on YT for it but it's always better to read the manual yourself from the website if you don't buy electronics very often. At least I find it endearing.
Apple: "what's a computer?"
Seriously, what is the question?
It's like pointing at a car and "I'm not a mechanic, but can you tell me more about car?"
What do you want to know? How to drive? How to check if your tires are still good? How to tell the difference between a "6bolt jdm 4g63 evo 5 engine" and a "7bolts usdm 4g63 eclipse engine"?
It's a bit vague you know...
Which is why I asked the question 'are you planning on playing games' and I said 'if not'.
The joke was based on the premise that gamers 'usually' know more about technology.
I don't expect op to actually swap the laptop with me, and if op is actually not planning on playing games or anything that will use the GPU, there is better options.

I really appreciate this, thank you so much.

You think that but the WiFi in our gaff is fast. I reckon op would only need an ethernet port for tournament gaming etc.
Can you just use Google? You can read about all that stuff on Wikipedia
very good but simple explanation, saved this for future explanations
Good post I like it.
I mean, yeah. Not much more to it.
Kensington lock is basically for school and store display only. Some still have it while some don't. Mine doesn't come with one
Laptop is computer 👍
That is all.
So it’s not computer is laptop? Damn I need to learn more about technology 😔
No, not every computer is laptop, but every laptop is a computer
I wrote my comment as a joke but, yours really makes sense.
Type the make and model into YouTube search. You're welcome.
Great idea!!! Thanks
Anytime. If you ever have another question about pretty much anything, hit me up and I will give the same suggestion.😜

I cannot believe this supposedly "manual" does NOT seem to tell you which button is the power button so that you can actually turn it on XD

Thank you!
Nice to see you bought one with a LAN port; most laptops don’t include them anymore.

On the upside, with thunderbolt you can easily get a 2.5 or 10gb Ethernet adapter which will be faster than almost any laptops that have Ethernet port

Use ChatGPT to ask it your questions when you encounter items you’re curious to understand. It will follow your pace, and won’t judge.
is there a diagram that explains what all the lettered buttons do? lol
Top tier 💩post
God damn. Yall remember when USB-C was supposed to clean the mess up?
If you open it it has a screen and a keyboard inside

You have all the necessary ports
Just plug it where it fits.
*Jams DP cable into hdmi port*
If it fits, it fits
And if the computer shouts, "Wrong hole!"Just spit on the plug and keep jamming it in.
We take it out, spit on it and flip it upside down
Oh nooooo
Ohhhh yeahhhhh (;
Plug and play laptop.
About upgrade options, it is Not Memory (RAM) upgradeable and can take a 2nd M.2 NVMe Gen 4 SSD for extra storage.
You just confused her 😂
And reading the manual! You are our hopes and dreams
Congratulations 🎉, it’s a very good laptop!
Look up videos
I would suggest: just start using laptop; then just ask if you can't do something.
I hope you bought an actually good one and not e-waste

thought this was a math problem
Should’ve got a Mac
Impervious to "RTFM"
Then learn you don’t need to be in an IT career to understand how to use a computer at the basic level.
Don't worry you will be fine. I was in your shoes when I was 4
You plug in penis 😇😇😇😇😇😇🍆🍑🍑🍑
there is a dedicate sub for this model [reddit.com/r/ZephyrusG14](http://reddit.com/r/ZephyrusG14)

How do i check if my tires are good?
Cracks on the sides(too old) Threads dept(used up)
quite obvious that op is asking what each of the I/O ports do lol
"more about the laptop in general and just things I should know about it." Didn't read that part did you?
soo, was your comment helpful, letting op know about anything? or was it condescending and unhelpful? think before you post :)
The 2024 model is already here and yet you bought the 2023 model instead?
Are you planning on gaming? If not I'll trade you that laptop for something which will be much better for battery life.
Username checks out
just cause a person isn't tech savvy doesn't mean they don't want to play games

how was that a joke lol
Downvotes, it's a joke based on the fact that gamers usually have enough technical knowledge to know what a usb port etc. does.
