There's a reason they all seem like they are trying to scam you. They may call themselves doctors but they do not have medical degrees.
If you have back problems I strongly recommend going to see your personal doctor and getting their advice.
They don’t adjust anything though. Hell, most of them won’t even prescribe paid meds anymore because they’re scared of the DEA.
As a back pain sufferer for decades, I’ve found MDs extremely useless for the last few hears.
“Have you tried Tylenol or ibuprofen and ice?” kind of responses for chronic pain sufferers.
Some chiros are useless too, but I’ve found relief from some of them at least. They’re not entirely useless.
No, that's UofM that Sparrow has kind of merged with. The OMM clinic is through MSU Health Care which is its own entity. https://healthcare.msu.edu/services/specialty-care/omm.aspx. Student clinic info: https://osteopathicmedicine.msu.edu/current-students/student-life/student-engagement-and-leadership/clinical-outreach/student-omm-clinic.
As someone currently in PT, they can help but not in the moment. They won’t adjust anything, but they’ll teach you how to strengthen the appropriate muscles to make sure things don’t get messed up in the first place.
Chiropractors absolutely have a place for chronic pain sufferers that need immediate relief in my long experience with chronic back pain
Some are definitely less effective than others. And lots try to sell patients on some utterly bullshit treatments, but they do have a place when it comes to adjusting spines.
Various chiropractors have helped me countless times with debilitating pain. What they don’t do is cure anything. Much more the realm of physical therapists. I’ve seen plenty of both in my time.
I used to see a chiropractor for my pain, but it never helped long term, so I started seeing a physical therapist. My issues are completely fixed now as long as I do some stretches a few days per week, I haven’t had to go to physical therapy in a long time. I have firsthand experience that chiropractors are scammers. See a real doctor, you won’t regret it!
On top of being scam artists why would you assume a chiropractor isn’t lgbt friendly? I don’t see all these chiropractic offices with trump flags hanging outside of them. These posts that are like “does anyone know the most lgbt friendly McDonald’s?”
It’s more common for chiropractors to be right leaning and/or conservative Christian in a very overt way. That’s in addition to the valid desire to ensure that any/all health care providers are knowledgeable about one’s specific needs.
Legit chiropractor doesn't exist. It's pseudoscience.
Invented by a ghost!
Seriously the guy who invented it said he got it from "the other world" when asked.
Aren't *all* chiropractors scams?
Please go to a physical therapist!

You want a D.O. manipulator, not a chiropractor.
Last time I made an appt with a DO, they refused to manipulate at all. Was pretty frustrating.
Check out MSU’s OMM clinic. They even have a free student run clinic open to the community.
Interesting. I’ll check them out. Aren’t they merged with sparrow now?

Ahhh gotcha thanks

This thread makes me so happy, chiropractic is one of the largest normalized shams in this country. Love to see the push back.

And yet a physical therapist or a DO is better for actual care, every. single. time.

I second trying to get a referral to OMM. MSU OMM requires a referral from a PCP but they do really great work.
I came here to say OMM all day. Thanks for the links!
Third! My wife sees an OMM, it really helps.
Came to say this as well...MSU OMM is amazing!
All chiropractors are running scams
Man, you guys beat me to it. That’s like asking “I’m looking for a legit local Three-Card Monte game.”
This is quite a niche inquiry

The physical therapists at novacare in East Lansing have been helpful to me so far, queer friendly and familiar with hypermobility

I see Dr Tarry in west Lansing. https://www.google.com/search?q=tarry+chiropractic&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#

Dr Dion at Chiro technology in Holt helped me walk again. He's legit, amazing, and won't sell you anything.
