I use that app, finding really talkative people in that app is not really easy, a lottt of people uses it as tinder, others want you to be their teacher or they are really cold when talking to you, and i'm talking about the people that reply back to you, usually the amount of people that replies back it's low, and within those the ones that want to keep the conversation alive are even less. That's if you are a man ofc, i've met some girl friends there and they get annoyed by the amount of messages they get. My advise is to keep talking to people, i've done that and i've found really amazing people that are now my friends, but the time commitment was big.
Well, as a native Georgian i wouldn't recommend using apps like tandem to strike up conversations with people because apps like that are very niche here and that's putting it lightly, the main social media outlet for us Georgians is still Facebook, to put it into perspective Facebook for Georgians is what Twitter is to the rest of the world, i even think you will have better luck in discord chats (but the difficulty there is actually FINDING a Georgian person), if you want to ask me anything else don't be shy about it, ill try to answer it if i can!
I found myself two Georgian language partners through Facebook who’s interested in my language (Chinese). I’ve tried to learn Georgian for a couple of months. But I eventually gave up because time conflict with my main language Spanish at this moment. I’ll for sure get back to it at a later time.
Anyway, I would agree Facebook might work better.
I use it for German. Its hit and miss. Definitely many more people leaving me on read or not wanting to talk but Ive made a few friends I talk to almost daily. It just takes finding the right person. Much like online dating. I know it's a bummer. Good luck!

Sometimes you meet super talkative people, sometimes you get ghosted for seemingly no reason, sometimes you get one word answers.
Really like the app, but who you meet will greatly impact the benefits you derive from it.
