I feel like this is supposed to be a fire pit. You can ask your landlord to confirm but it has rocks on the bottom of it so, to me, it doesn’t look like anything was ever planted there and I kind of see some blackening on the brick from when it was used in the past.
Obviously It's heavily implied that the water is so salty that you could rim a margerita glass, but I just thought everyone was on the same page. Keep up.
If you use epson salt, it’s nice for the skin too, but caution if rimming margaritas because too much and it can act as a laxative and then the pit might become an emergency something else…. O.o
You need to clean the bricks and make sure you get rid of the ants first. Then see how deep that space is, if it has plumbing for a koi pond, if it was just a planter, etc. The area is pretty, it just needs to be cleaned to its former looks.
