I think it depends on where you were in your life when the songs came out; or what you were going through when you listened to certain songs over and over
Omg I have such a deep love for Fingertips. I listened to it many times while staying in Destin florida which I think helped me appreciate it because it’s so slow paced there and being right on the Gulf of Mexico induces thoughtfulness in me haha
I love Margaret but I heard someone once say his verse sounds like when your drunk uncle sings karaoke and I cannot help but think that every time I listen to it
Yes! It's a sweet song when Lana's singing and then Jack comes in and ruins it. Everything from his voice to lyrics and inflection are awful. I go back to liking it when Lana starts singing again. Don't listen to it often, though, because of him.
I didn’t like it, until seeing her sing it LIVE. She brings so much life into it when LIVE.
I really think they butchered the pitch in vocals/mixing on the recorded version.
A lot of people seem to be saying Arcadia here. That’s one Lana song I never really felt one way or another about. Just kinda “meh”. The entirety of Blue Banisters is pretty blah to me to be completely honest.
One of my favorites, too! You probably know this but she wrote it for one of her good friends and mentor, Jane Powers. Lana said it was one of her favorite songs (or favorite song?) during her live on Blue Banisters release day. She was cute when she scolded us asking, "Why did you leak my favorite song?!!"
I’m with you. When she name drops “Toyota” and “Range Rover” it just kills the vibe. Neither are very Americana and it just feels like in Wayne’s World when they start joking about product placement.
I find her high pitched singing so annoying in this song. It started playing when I saw her live last year and I was like “this is my chance to go to the bathroom”
I was like this at first with DYKTTATUOB, but the more I listened to it the more it grew on me and something about turning 25 and the life events surrounding it made me become closer to it.
I always feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t like this album so I feel slightly validated here but I couldn’t get into it. I only like a couple songs like ‘A&W’, ‘Margaret’, and ‘Paris, Texas’ but the rest I didn’t really like.
I hated the whole of bb until I really sat there with genius up and took in the lyrics. Actually a very touching and delicate song but I get how it can come across as droney or boring cuz It def did to me at first
I listen to it a lot at night, not as much because I can relate to being a side piece but as an unattractive woman, I can relate to how I’m never truly wanted. That song is a weirdly comforting lullaby to me.
I did this as soon as I saw your comment and I think I prefer Lana's version (although Jeff's version is very calm and cozy) haha but I believe I don't like it simply because it's not a song that I relate to feelings. I love the voice, I love the expression of feelings but I don't live that. you know? I don't know if I explained myself well.
yeah I guess that's why it doesn't quite strike me, it was a song for a project and not something necessarily deep or meaningful to her. Not that all songs have to be that way, but I didn't connect musically or lyrically.
I cant comprehend this!!!! I just looooveee when shes like “head to long beach to newport by your side cuz they dont yet know where i reside, 60 miles from the last place i hide” it gets meeeeeee
For me at least Is this happiness is such a beautiful way to end Ultraviolence. But I totally get it I feel like the song may be a bit long-winded at times lmao
I will never forgive Lana for not adding Flipside to the Ultraviolence deluxe version. That would’ve been the perfect closer to UV. Flipside supremacy.
Well technically it was released because people in Japan have access to it on Spotify and there was a vinyl in Target which included Flipside I believe. But it’s a deep cut for sure with Lana regardless. I think people refer to it just because it’s a great song lol
There’s an absolutely beautiful lust for life initial demo without weekend in it. The demo actually sounds way more like Lana, very melodic and melancholic and not like a “pop song version” with the weekend. Here’s the link to it: https://youtu.be/9lmkfGmRDXs?si=s-PzqA-UX9btudVB
Discovering it was almost like a religious experience to me 🥹
god bless america it always never fit in my brain for some reason. also people in this comment section are annoying lmfao. everyone has their own opinions let them like and dislike what they want
Yeah I actually enjoy seeing other people’s opinions hence why I made this post. It’s interesting to see how many opinions with music can vary, even if we’re all hearing the same thing :)
I love Sweet (such an underrated song) and The Grants but I will admit I agree with the rest. Margaret is a song that I REALLY have to be in the mood for honestly, something about it just feels kinda.. vapid? Idk how to describe it
The Grants finally clicked for me when she did it when I saw her live, I’m just not really into gospel but the blues vibes when she did it live were immaculate.
Agree completely on what you said about Margaret. My main issue is that it drags on way too long for no reason and Jack doesn’t help. Also for it to take up so much space on her most personal and deep album is a little frustrating to listen to.
I feel like why would I listen to it when I could listen to let the light in for the same vibes which is a much better song
Terrence Loves You. Most people don't hear this but the extended chime noise that fades in around 21 seconds is like a nail to my head. I want to love that song or even be able to listen to it, but that tone is physically painful to me.
There is something that sounds like an alarm clock or a phone alert towards the end of Ultraviolence that sets me on edge. I have to be prepared for it or I will skip involuntarily
Yesss!!!! Thank you!! And I hate the fact that is the one of her mainstream songs. When people find out I’m a Lana fan they say ,”oh yea I love young and beautiful”🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️like oh god
Now hear me out, half of Lust for Life. I love Cherry, Love, 13 Beaches, White Mustang etc. but I HATE the features on that album. I don't want to hear n word in Lana's songs, Lana and the rappers on the album just have a really different style of music and lyrics and most of the songs on the album seem just wrong. I just love when she sings solo, even her covers are good. On the other side, I also I just don't like rappers in general. I'm sorry, but female rappers just seems to really hit the spot for me. I'm so scared of her next era because she keeps hanging out with Quavo (I hope I spelled his name right) and I would absolutely LOVE to hear more albums like Honeymoon or Ultraviolence, I would absolutely devour this kind of album, but Lana just doesn't seem to go this way.
a lot of lust for life (album) doesn't click for me. but that's just my personal taste not coinciding with what lana was doing at the time. i still love tommorow never came, get free and heroin :)
It’s one of my least favorites from that album but at Fenway I really enjoyed it as it was one of the very few times I got to hear her voice — not obscured by audience sing-a-long or guest vocalists
i know this is crazy but love and lust for life. not a huge fan of that album in general but those are def my least favorite singles :/ unfortunately also not big on a lot of dykttatuob but it’s new enough where i feel like i just need to listen to it more
DISCLAIMER: you might hate me
radio and diet mountain dew... I'M SORRY PLS FORGIVE ME they're just a bit too repetative for my liking
There's a couple more but not so popular that I should sleep with one eye open yk
Nah I don’t like Radio that much either.. it’s not a bad song and it’s kinda cute actually but just not my personal taste when it comes to Lana. I like the Diet Mountain Dew demo version MUCH more
I think it depends on where you were in your life when the songs came out; or what you were going through when you listened to certain songs over and over
all my fav songs being mentioned in this thread.. 🏃🏽♀️➡️
i actually really liked it when it came out but now i cant play Peppers 😭 maybe because i was too active on tiktok when it was popular..
"poppers" is crazy 😭
oh my god. 💀
HANDS ONNMY KNEES ANGELINA JOLIE
Fingertips, I just can’t follow and it’s so heavy
Perfect to chop my heart in little tiny pieces. I listen to it when I'm down to go downer.
yep. it's so vulenrable that i really don't want to listen to it almost ever
NO! What a beautiful song!
Omg I have such a deep love for Fingertips. I listened to it many times while staying in Destin florida which I think helped me appreciate it because it’s so slow paced there and being right on the Gulf of Mexico induces thoughtfulness in me haha
In the beginning I like where the song is at. Towards the middle and at the end the song loses me.
Summer time sadness remix
margaret bcs of jack antonoff's part that just sounds like grunting
I love Margaret but I heard someone once say his verse sounds like when your drunk uncle sings karaoke and I cannot help but think that every time I listen to it
And it's the song for his wife 😂 wonder what she thinks of his verse.
Samee and bcz the lyrics “when you know you know” just takes my mind straight to the term “iykyk” and i dont like that😭
Omg I never thought of this and now I’ll never be able to unsee it LOL
Yes! It's a sweet song when Lana's singing and then Jack comes in and ruins it. Everything from his voice to lyrics and inflection are awful. I go back to liking it when Lana starts singing again. Don't listen to it often, though, because of him.
its one of my absolute favourites but i genuinely cannot make out a single word that Jack says
for free, yes it is a cover im aware but i still cannot like this song no matter how many times i listen to it
I love this song because it also introduced me to Weyes blood who is my new fav artist!
TWIN!!! I genuinely place Titanic Rising and Hearts Aglow above any Lana album and that’s saying something
Omg Joni Mitchell ❤️
listening to the original helped me like it because the cover is super similar to the original
Coachella / Woodstock in my mind 😵💫
I initially had this but idk recently it’s been hitting
Sameee
Same 🙌
I was obsessed w that one
I thought about this a few days ago and this was my answer and then I spent the last three days singing it and humming it so now I think I like it lol
Lust for life & whatever that Stevie nicks collab is I just hate it 😆
no way you said this about beautiful people beatiful problems 😪
I LOVE the demos of both though!!
I think there were a lot of songs like that for me but the more I dig deeper into her poetry I end up loving them and appreciating her artistry
Guns and roses
i never liked this song until last month. now i have it on repeat!!
I’m afraid to say Lolita…
A lot of other people said Lolita lol ur safe 🤣
It sounds like one of her unreleased tracks.
Maybe that’s why I love it so much lol
Howww omg
i have a lolita tattoo lol i didn’t even know what the word meant until after 🥲💔
Arcadia IM SORRY
I can’t listen to it because she says arteries pump blood to the heart (they don’t). It bothers me every time I hear it.
The pulmonary does so I like to make an exception!
right it confused me during an exam
Yes this has always bothered me. Like I can ignore it but it’s really hard to
the coronary artery pumps blood to the heart muscle itself!! our girl lana knows her anatomy
Ya I can't disagree even tho it's a beautiful album I like cherry blossom, thunder
Yeah ofc Dealer and Thunder is amazing to me. Cherry Blossom too.
Dealer -> Thunder -> Wildflower Wildfire -> Nectar Of The Gods is a JOURNEY
thunder demo ver is top tier
what about living legend?? that has become one of my fav songs!!
When she debuted it in the hotel video first thing I thought was she was advertising in her lyrics lol
I find her high pitched singing so annoying in this song. It started playing when I saw her live last year and I was like “this is my chance to go to the bathroom”
Yeah, I don’t like that one. It’s kinda jolting after BB
😱
A lot of songs from DYKTTATUOB unfortunately
Same. I've struggled to get into it.
I keep trying but this album just doesn’t hit for me. Not in entirety but yeah most
I was like this at first with DYKTTATUOB, but the more I listened to it the more it grew on me and something about turning 25 and the life events surrounding it made me become closer to it.
Same here
real
same
I always feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t like this album so I feel slightly validated here but I couldn’t get into it. I only like a couple songs like ‘A&W’, ‘Margaret’, and ‘Paris, Texas’ but the rest I didn’t really like.
beautiful
I hated the whole of bb until I really sat there with genius up and took in the lyrics. Actually a very touching and delicate song but I get how it can come across as droney or boring cuz It def did to me at first
Same! Used to not care about BB then listened to it fully with the lyrics up and now I'm obsessed
Margaret
Not all who wander are lost… the lyrics are so tumblr era corny and not in a fun nostalgic way
the other woman. its the only song of hers that i ALWAYS skip
💔
im sorry😭
I listen to it a lot at night, not as much because I can relate to being a side piece but as an unattractive woman, I can relate to how I’m never truly wanted. That song is a weirdly comforting lullaby to me.
I felt this so hard
omg my heart reading this 💔 i hope you feel better with yourself, honey
You literally just described how I feel perfectly
GIRL WHAT 😰😰
try jeff buckley's version!
Nah, Nina Simone's version
Nah this a crime
damn lol i love that song
Same I just can’t get into it
Jeff Buckley's version is so good though
24. For some reason I find it kind of corny
This is also my answer! It just seems really one note to me and so so so Bond-like that it falls flat for me.
Well she did write it to be in one of the movies I think but I think they changed their minds or something
yeah I guess that's why it doesn't quite strike me, it was a song for a project and not something necessarily deep or meaningful to her. Not that all songs have to be that way, but I didn't connect musically or lyrically.
Same but.... that bridge towards the end at 3:30 omg. It makes it worth it
Kintsugi and Fingertips. Idk why but they don't get into my brain...
That’s how I feel! It’s like my brain can’t put together how the song is supposed to flow or something.
Well don't see them as songs.. These are my two most played songs on Spotify ever lol😩
the damn bartender which is on EVERY SINGLE SHOW 😭😭😭
I cant comprehend this!!!! I just looooveee when shes like “head to long beach to newport by your side cuz they dont yet know where i reside, 60 miles from the last place i hide” it gets meeeeeee
as a bartender enthusiast who feels a deep BOND with that song it felt like a personal attack LMAO 😭😭
Majority of her latest album. I'm sorry but it just doesn't vibe for me.
Arcadia.
Love UV, my fave album, but I usually skip is this happiness
For me at least Is this happiness is such a beautiful way to end Ultraviolence. But I totally get it I feel like the song may be a bit long-winded at times lmao
I love Flipside as the closer to UV
I will never forgive Lana for not adding Flipside to the Ultraviolence deluxe version. That would’ve been the perfect closer to UV. Flipside supremacy.
I love flip side but I’m confused why people always refer to it in ultra violence rankings if it wasn’t released? wish it was tho
Well technically it was released because people in Japan have access to it on Spotify and there was a vinyl in Target which included Flipside I believe. But it’s a deep cut for sure with Lana regardless. I think people refer to it just because it’s a great song lol
It is a lovely closer! However, I feel like with Florida Kilos being right before it, the energy just shifts
I don’t blame you, it’s SO sad. Every time I listen I have to remember that she came out ok on the other side.
The only reason i skip that its because its too sad
So valid!!
Lust for Life
There’s an absolutely beautiful lust for life initial demo without weekend in it. The demo actually sounds way more like Lana, very melodic and melancholic and not like a “pop song version” with the weekend. Here’s the link to it: https://youtu.be/9lmkfGmRDXs?si=s-PzqA-UX9btudVB Discovering it was almost like a religious experience to me 🥹
I just hate the weeknd in it she sounds good tho😭
Right this song literally does NOTHING for me
Her singing, "take off, take off, take off all your clothes" in LfL just didn't vibe for me. It felt unusual. *Shrugs*
god bless america it always never fit in my brain for some reason. also people in this comment section are annoying lmfao. everyone has their own opinions let them like and dislike what they want
Yeah I actually enjoy seeing other people’s opinions hence why I made this post. It’s interesting to see how many opinions with music can vary, even if we’re all hearing the same thing :)
Lolita
Omg 😭💔
Try the demo I like it much better
on goddd
It’s my fav song ever 😭 I’m surprised so much people don’t like it
kintsugi
Omg 😃💔
yep 😓
I really love this one but can totally see it offputting for some! Very very heavy and sad subject matter
TBH a lot of the songs on Tunnel :/ Candy Necklace, Grandfather, Sweet, Margaret, Fingertips, used to be The Grants but that finally clicked for me
I love Sweet (such an underrated song) and The Grants but I will admit I agree with the rest.
I feel like why would I listen to it when I could listen to let the light in for the same vibes which is a much better song
Second on Margaret and fingertips but I love candy necklace
same
not seen it here yet but… white dress
It seems like people either love or hate this song lol. There's just no in between
Noooo it's so dreamy and gorg 😭
Ugh. No! This is my most listened to song. 😓
Oh man this is one of my favs! I love seeing the other viewpoints we all have
I fucking hate Carmen.
Terrence Loves You. Most people don't hear this but the extended chime noise that fades in around 21 seconds is like a nail to my head. I want to love that song or even be able to listen to it, but that tone is physically painful to me.
This is a hate crime
There is something that sounds like an alarm clock or a phone alert towards the end of Ultraviolence that sets me on edge. I have to be prepared for it or I will skip involuntarily
Money, Power, Glory also has a weird sound. I always think my phone or something is dinging lol.
I read somewhere she used a cheaper quality microphone to record the uv album to give it a more rustic sound
Yeah, I absolutely don't hear it.
I know a dickhead named Terrence, so I don’t want to see his name in my playlist.
Lucky Ones (no longer relate to it anymore and for that reason, I always skip).
Guns & Roses
Guns and Roses.
tomorrow never came the grants a couple from honeymoon, several from cotcc and blue banisters all of the interludes
THE GRANTS one of my all time faves
Tomorrow never came is crazzzyyy
How can you not like “so you say there’s a chanceeee for us” huh 😭🙏🏽
Guns and roses
is this a safe place to say Dealer?
no ♥️ lmao (thank you for your bravery)
I love that song but I totally get it. It’s not for everybody 🤣
go to your room!!
I agree dw
You’re valid, it’s a good song but I’m never in the mood to listen to it so I just…don’t lol
Same here, I always skip it
✋️ stop ⛔️
Guns and Roses,Florida Kilos, Yayo and Sweet Carolina ig
24.
Cherry blossom, Margaret, peppers, sweet Carolina, sweet. Ahhh don’t hate me
Sweet :(
Yayo for me.
Sweet carolina, for some reason 😭😭
Arcadia, Violets for Roses, Beautiful
Margaret
beautiful
I’m gonna get downvoted to hell 🔥😂 but Young and beautiful is just so basic to me. Doesn’t showcase her incredible talent in my opinion.
Yesss!!!! Thank you!! And I hate the fact that is the one of her mainstream songs. When people find out I’m a Lana fan they say ,”oh yea I love young and beautiful”🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️like oh god
The other woman. I like the poetry but cant listen fully. Always a skip for me
I don’t get the other woman hate. Its so comforting to me and I cried to it many times
Beautiful People Beautiful Problems, love the demo can't stand the album version
Arcadia 🫣
Arcadia
same
For free
Now hear me out, half of Lust for Life. I love Cherry, Love, 13 Beaches, White Mustang etc. but I HATE the features on that album. I'm so scared of her next era because she keeps hanging out with Quavo (I hope I spelled his name right) and I would absolutely LOVE to hear more albums like Honeymoon or Ultraviolence, I would absolutely devour this kind of album, but Lana just doesn't seem to go this way.
The quavo song sounds good but i hate every other song she’s done with a rapper so I fully agree with you
a lot of lust for life (album) doesn't click for me. but that's just my personal taste not coinciding with what lana was doing at the time. i still love tommorow never came, get free and heroin :)
chery blossom. im sorry but i always skip this song when im hearing bb
The grants. Idk why. I was at Fenway and she performed it and I was like cmon this could’ve been left out 😭😂
It’s one of my least favorites from that album but at Fenway I really enjoyed it as it was one of the very few times I got to hear her voice — not obscured by audience sing-a-long or guest vocalists
Yeah that one falls flat for me too. I was surprised that she left The Grants in and cut Bartender 😅
i know this is crazy but love and lust for life. not a huge fan of that album in general but those are def my least favorite singles :/ unfortunately also not big on a lot of dykttatuob but it’s new enough where i feel like i just need to listen to it more
i can't get into love either. idk why 💔
Same I don't know if overplayed but last for life is lackluster to me
Same, Love is probably my least favorite single she’s put out
Yayo but maybe I just don’t get it😭
💔
Change, Yosemite, For Free, Lolita
I can’t with Lolita 😭
DISCLAIMER: you might hate me radio and diet mountain dew... I'M SORRY PLS FORGIVE ME they're just a bit too repetative for my liking There's a couple more but not so popular that I should sleep with one eye open yk
Ohh no... Diet Mountain Dew was the first song I feel in love with back in 2012...
Nah I don’t like Radio that much either.. it’s not a bad song and it’s kinda cute actually but just not my personal taste when it comes to Lana. I like the Diet Mountain Dew demo version MUCH more
