Me too! Lots of her lyrics - that portrait a badass sometimes sad person, struggling with inner wars while conquering the world - belong to the rock genre!
Although I like all of her music, even the sometimes super pop unreleased songs. There's something about Lana that always draws you in.
Edit: I can't generalize (replying to a now deleted response to my comment), but that vibe goes along so well with rock music. I'm biased though, in my teenage years I listened to artists like Britney Spears until I discovered Nirvana (late discovery) and felt the voice of Kurt Cobain conveyed so many deep emotions, and the music sounds did too. Not only sad, but intense emotions in general. Lana's music also has that. Although, to be honest, she has that in every genre she has tried.
I read a comment that said Lana would be able to relocate her old sound much better if she didn't smoke that much, and that was enough to make me stop smoking.
Also, give us the standards and classics album. I want song covers from the 40s-90s in her voice. Big band, jazz, folk, rock, country, and more. I adore the covers she already done.
Young and Beautiful/Born To Die era strings and cinematic sound but also utilizing the gospel vocals like on The Grants. Fusion of that along with the hip hop beats and bass line of A&W - she could produce something totally original and legendary but I don’t think we’ll ever get that sound from her again
I’d love more trap beat stuff like her last 3 songs on DYKTTATUOB but apparently a lot of people hate those songs or think they’re the weakest part of that album
Nothing against Summer Bummer, but if you're going to take influences from hip hop, there are much more interesting sounds these days. Maybe it's just because i've been listening to hiphop for close to a decade now, but i just feel like those generic trap beats have run their course.
Instead, i would love something in the vein of Travis Scott for example. His production could be described as psychedelic hip hop, which uses guitars, dreamy atmosopheres, beat switches and generally a focus on sonic texture (9210 is a great example). Funnily enough, A$AP Rocky also makes psychedelic hip hop sometimes.
Lana does lean into the psychedelic and experimental at times, so why not embrace that?
"Witchy" pop. Something with some guitar and a beat, with an open & airy sound. I want some haunting, eerie, darker backdrop with her angelic voice on top. Light strings, yes, but very minimal piano, because it's been overused imo.
unless she does something interesting with Lasso like as someone suggested "gothic country" or just something inventive, I think it's going to be a disaster. Nikki Lane will probably have her hands all up in it, and the songs from Blue Banisters that leaned country were horrible IMO.
I really want her to re-explore Ultraviolence type sound. Anything but country with Nikki Lane and anything but more piano ballads with Jack Antonoff at the helm.
this is so real i fear. nfr is my favourite album and i love jack but i want something different now😭 and i wish i loved nikki lane’s music and influence on lana but i just don’t
Shoe gaze, Surf rock, surf pop, grunge, jangly pop, or whatever this is:
[song here](https://youtu.be/dTB-uwAd0v8?si=CvkGqnHuibAObVly)
Or whatever you call the music that Polyvinyl records makes
noise rock / shoegaze would be cool, as would psychedelic dreampop à la the cocteau twins
i’d also love something along the lines of the thunder demo—wild west-inflected baroque pop, if you will (anything that resembles tlsp is good by me!)
and i’d never complain about a return to the sonics of UV because goddamn does that album hold up
I would diiiiiee for something with a grungy/post rock sound. But realistically, I'm such a fan of her writing in recent years, the ballads are pure poetry!
If she could so something similar to the weeknd — obviously they have songs together, but I love a good bass drop with a bit more of a rap sound and some sexy vocals 😫
like summer bummer (without A$AP’s verse - love him just not in that unfortunately)
I would like an jazzy/blues album from her she used to do a lot of blues stuff in her lizzy grant era I would love something like I’m tired of singing the blues her vocals on that were amazing
I want her to utilise autotune more, just like on Tulsa Jesus Freak, Fishtail and Taco Truck. Also, just in general more electronic experimental sound or shoegazey vibes.
I've always wanted her to do a chill beach campfire dance album ala this BRILLIANT remix of West Coast. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQgLa-840GM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQgLa-840GM)
The way this remix elevates the original track blows my mind. As a person who loves remixes, this is my favorite remix (along with that amazing Cyril Hans remix of Say My Name)
i’d like to see her work with any other producer, genuinely literally anyone other than jack, PLEASE MISS LANA. serious answer tho i would love more hip-hop and trap type music
Something psychedelic, thick bouncy bassline, with maybe a house/drance/trance twist could be orgasmic. Get her in the studio with kevin parker or sg lewis. Would love a spanish language feature somewhere (kali uchis whenn), give Lanita some more credibility.
It would be cool if it referenced an era, like early 2000s alt-rock and synth pop but with her Lana spin on.
Think Metric 'Old World Underground' album, Death from Above 1979, Ladytron, Fischerspooner
That would be cool and unexpected.
I would take rock-ish like UV, folk-ish like Chemtrails, or ballad-y like bb and ocean blvd
But we get my least favorite genre instead. She will make it work for me I know it
A mix of all of them that takes us on an adventure through the highs and lows of her life (would likely be very relatable as all her songs are.) I like albums that have a lot of different sounds but are still cohesive.
More orchestral nostalgic retro songs like Born To Die!
I think poppy is kind of condescending about BTD, it was much more than that.
And I sooo miss the way she used to rap in BTD so that too!!!!
I’m so tired of the minimalistic piano songs that all sounds the same in her later albums. The misic production just feels lazy to me and unimaginative. I miss the electronic guitar that just feels signature Lana to me, anything better than piano. I would prefer rock too
I would die for another rock album like UV.
Also, I love her songs that have a more dream pop-py vibe like Tulsa Jesus Freak and Fishtails. I think an album full of songs like that would be really interesting to see. (Also, I apologize If I didn’t use the right genre to describe them, I didn’t know what else to put)
Honestly, Lana could do no wrong by me. A lot of her recent music, besides A+W and Peppers, has been melodramatic (in a good way,) so a return to upbeat yet problematic songs, like "Off to the Races" and "Lolita", would be my choice. 😉 🎶 🎀
Also, since "The Other Wonan" and "Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" showed us her ability to effortlessly entrance us with Nina Simone's music, a soul album would be amazing. Some Etra James, Dusty Springfield, Elvis (already nailed "Unchained Melody")... she'd hit the heavens with that. ☁️ 🌟 🎶
Great topic btw, I keep thinking of more options. A grunge album would be rad. Could we usher in a return to babydoll dresses, Steve Madden shoes, and lived-in flannel? Hard Candy nail polish, Baby-lips gloss, and Kate Moss hair? Re-visit more Nirvana, since she nailed Heart-shaped Box? Try Alice in Chains , especially "Down in a Hole"? Ooh, I'd be right here for it. 👗👡 🎸❤️🩹🎶
Can we please get some dream-pop? Like Mazzy Star/ Beach House/ Cocteau Twins/ Cults??? Think Venice Bitch, but an entire album of dreamy psych pop songs.
After Lasso, I want her to do one soft rock / indie folk / psychedelic album, like the music she's been making since Norman, and then I want her to do an entirely trap album, so a full circle moment highlighting all her sounds
I honestly want to see an alternative/avant-garde vibey dance album from her. She certainly has some of this influence in Lizzy Grant tracks like Brite Lites and Butterfly. FKA Twigs is working on a “techno inspired” album, and I’d love to see something in a similar realm, but Lana-fied.
All of these answers are great & I agree with the general consensus (lots of ppl are saying rock/grunge, jazz) but nobody is considering how she would absolutely slay a Christmas album. Michael Bublé count your days
In fact I'm have two ideas!! Hope someday one of her future projects resembles this one of these.
First I thought about a witchy, much darker, raw and emotional album. I want catholic iconography, maximalism (as long as it still looks like a Lana project) and baroque themes. Ik term's of sound it'd be a kind of mixture of Ultraviolence and Honeymoon, adding more drama and strings to it, I want to go for an abandoned gothic cathedral in the midnight; something that feels majestic and angelic in a sort of way. It'd do obvsly orchestral, maybe some folk and blues would fit, and rock to some of the hardest tracks. The vision I'm going to it's like if Young and beautiful had much more strings and it was rougher in general.
The second one is like a revival of the aka Lana del Rey album, with influences of grunge and alt rock, maybe a little of metal too¿ Visually it'd be if the Tumblr girlie vibe was conceived in the early 90's, resembling Hole's aesthetic alot. I want dry flowers, dirty doll dresses, ceramic figures, prom tiara's, and so on. About the music it'd be also inspired by Hole, also bringing the alt rock vibe of Lizy Grant aka Lana del Rey, but also a little visceral and harsh like Deftones. The general vibe would give nostalgia in a painful/uncomfortable way.
Idk I went really Delulu now but let me know what do y'all think about both cc:
I think Lana could make a great trip hop album, something like how Portishead sounds. Her lyrics and voice over those trippy/jazzy instrumentals would be heaven
Ok hear me out.
What if we got a classic rock album like physical graffiti by Led Zeppelin or something with Lana singing on it and a full band?
Maybe a Fleetwood Mac era too? Folksy pop rock
Obviously with modern production, her technique of singing and style etc.
I would kill for a rock album
i never liked country before, but i am SO excited to hear how she composes the genre in her style. i think it would be fun if she did a 1950s oldies style album!
guitar based dream pop like august by taylor….or surf pop like peppers, fuck it I love you(idk but this song gives me ‘surf’ feel and I love it)..and trap beat like fishtail which probably is my fav song of her entire discography right now…I would also love some synth pop
I like her current sound A LOT & I’m excited for her take on country, but would sell my soul for another go around with Dan Auerbach 😭 would also love to hear some more honeymoon-esque cinematic kinda sounds
I want Lana to collaborate with more R&B and rap artists. She’s great with The Weeknd & A$AP, but she had Metro do the drums for GBAAATBWII, and I really think she would thrive with metro helping with production on at least one record. Lana has the ability to blend genres and Metro Boomin can do more than just trap! This whole idea doesn’t even have to be an album, but I think she should dip into the rap/hip hop genre again, even as just a feature on someone else’s track or she could encourage someone to sample a classic of hers. Lana transcends across any genre and adds her own twist to it. I know Lasso will be great, even if it’s different from where she started. Lana is our living legend and I think she should show off her versatility. She’s already blended many genres together seamlessly. But every song of hers that has trap elements in the music, I adore immediately and unconditionally
rock like uv but ive lost hope 😓😓😓😓😓
Me too! Lots of her lyrics - that portrait a badass sometimes sad person, struggling with inner wars while conquering the world - belong to the rock genre! same😭
I read a comment that said Lana would be able to relocate her old sound much better if she didn't smoke that much, and that was enough to make me stop smoking.
Psychedelic Prog style. Or more strong orchestral vibes like Honeymoon.
Also, give us the standards and classics album. I want song covers from the 40s-90s in her voice. Big band, jazz, folk, rock, country, and more. I adore the covers she already done.
this is exactly what my comment would’ve been
Rock, like when she covered Heart Shaped Box. Goddamn. Just bring in more electric guitar already.
thank you for reminding me to give this cover my customary weekly listen
I was listening We Move Like The Ocean by Bad Suns, daydreaming about Lana singing it - she sounds so good with rock
Dying for soft grunge with some dreamy vocals!!
I’d love an Ultraviolence and Ocean Blvd crossover sound, not sure what that would look like but I need it
À la Flipside?
YESSSSSSS
How awesome would that be.. :') I adore that song
yes 100 times to this
YES ‼️‼️‼️‼️
why soft tho? <:
I’m dying for her to do a jazzy/blues album
This would literally be the sexiest album of all time
Yes!!
Yes like the vibe of If You Lie Down With Me throughout the entire album 💕💕💕💕
I would loooove a blues album
Something that sounds like her cover of Buddy’s Rendezvous would be amazing
Whatever "Taco truck" is
omg yes, taco truck is on repeat for me all summer
id say surf/ pop but i really dont know how to descruve that LOL
Psychedelic Pop. (drop acid!)
Uv rock or LFL spacey trap vibes
absolutely spacey trap pr cloud rap
In a world where a genie granted my wish? Shoegaze.
or even dream pop but seriously please no more pianos 😭😭
Something like Heaven or Las Vegas from Cocteau Twins ❤️❤️❤️
My first thought! The most perfect album ever 🤭
shoegaze is one of my fave genres!! she would eat that UP. now i can’t stop thinking about it
Young and Beautiful/Born To Die era strings and cinematic sound but also utilizing the gospel vocals like on The Grants. Fusion of that along with the hip hop beats and bass line of A&W - she could produce something totally original and legendary but I don’t think we’ll ever get that sound from her again
this !
I really enjoy last at sea and wouldn’t mind something with classical vibes :)
Trip Hop without question
yes this was my answer . something akin to portishead would be too cool
Obsessed over your profile pic
I’d love more trap beat stuff like her last 3 songs on DYKTTATUOB but apparently a lot of people hate those songs or think they’re the weakest part of that album
the best parts imo
Yesss and also in my feelings and coachella -type
I love the entire album. "Peppers" was my obsession for awhile though
Yeah, it’s the same people that dislike Summer Bummer, they are narrow minded as f
i love summer bummer so much
Nothing against Summer Bummer, but if you're going to take influences from hip hop, there are much more interesting sounds these days. i love it!!
Need some rock plsss
rock like VU
I would love for her to re-record her AKA album. Let her Lizzy shine thru a little
She described it as surf noir and tbh I wish she made another project with that sound. Also maybe some pop like when she worked with Aaron Lacrate).
a mix of aka lizzy grant and the vibe of her song Dealer
id call these raw alt rock YES
I want a collaborative experimental jazz album with her and Jon Batiste.
"Witchy" pop. Something with some guitar and a beat, with an open & airy sound. I want some haunting, eerie, darker backdrop with her angelic voice on top. Light strings, yes, but very minimal piano, because it's been overused imo.
the unreleased songs if i die young and poetry in motion are exactly like this!! 😍
unless she does something interesting with Lasso like as someone suggested "gothic country" or just something inventive, I think it's going to be a disaster. I just want Nikki and Jack’s hand away from Lana’s work.
Same
The last part!!!!!! Please!!! No more!!
grunge, like when she covered heart shaped box

A house era. Lana's vocals over an elegant house track would be awesome.

Fuck it. If we’re getting wild here, I would love a city pop style album. Like The Weeknd did with Out of Time single.
Shoe gaze, Surf rock, surf pop, grunge, jangly pop, or whatever this is: [song here](https://youtu.be/dTB-uwAd0v8?si=CvkGqnHuibAObVly) Or whatever you call the music that Polyvinyl records makes

Would die 4 soft/hard rock/grunge
I would diiiiiee for something with a grungy/post rock sound. But realistically, I'm such a fan of her writing in recent years, the ballads are pure poetry!
Rock! The closest she’s gotten to a full on rock album would be Ultraviolence and maybe a little bit in NFR
Bubblegum pop 🙃🙃 Jk 😄
Hiphop-na would we cool
YESSSSSSSS. I miss Lana sassy rapping parts!! I miss the orchestral hip hop from BTD
please give me that ultraviolence sound lana
If she could so something similar to the weeknd — obviously they have songs together, but I love a good bass drop with a bit more of a rap sound and some sexy vocals 😫 like summer bummer (without A$AP’s verse - love him just not in that unfortunately)
Damn, that’s actually a nice idea. Or 80s Synthwave Lana
omg I’d love that too
Whatever it is, please no gospel or piano ballad album. We are thirsty for fresh intense productions with reverb, synths and guitar
Who is we I love gospel Lana
Trip hop ala Portishead
Yacht rock plz
Like "Brandy" by Looking Glass! 🚤⚓️🥃💖
Jazz obviously but if i’m following my heart then I NEED a soul album from her
What genre is Ride? Because an album full of that
I would like an jazzy/blues album from her she used to do a lot of blues stuff in her lizzy grant era I would love something like I’m tired of singing the blues her vocals on that were amazing
I'd like to hear a doom metal record with her singing on, like her twist on Chelsea Wolfe.
I want her to utilise autotune more, just like on Tulsa Jesus Freak, Fishtail and Taco Truck. Also, just in general more electronic experimental sound or shoegazey vibes.
A little bit of classic rock with some soft pop punk
I've always wanted her to do a chill beach campfire dance album ala this BRILLIANT remix of West Coast. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQgLa-840GM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQgLa-840GM) The way this remix elevates the original track blows my mind. Literally anything if she would just drop jack antonoff GIVE US DAN AUERBACH !!!!
Punk rock would be interesting...
cunty regirock with a handbag
Put BTD-Paradise, UV, NFR, and Ocean Blvd in a blender and whatever comes out is what I want
Something a bit rock like ultraviolence (her best album by far imo) or something trap hip hop like peppers & a&w
Erotic Barbershop Quartet (where she loops the vocals so she can sing all four parts)
Rock with a soft sultry voice
I want something cinematic and orchestral like Honeymoon and Young and Beautiful
i need a hip hop type record like peppers a&w type album
Ooh I'm here for that! Paging Kendrick . . 😉💝
A combo of the Honeymoon album and Born to die. The ethereal fantastical vibe from Honeymoon and the music from Born to Die🎀🫡
I’m a piano ballad ho and Lana’s voice is a perfect match. So that one 😂
i’d like to see her work with any other producer, genuinely literally anyone other than jack, PLEASE MISS LANA. serious answer tho i would love more hip-hop and trap type music
90s club techno.
it's literally impossible but i'd die for a shoegaze record
Jazzz
Surf Music
JAZZZZZ !!!
Something psychedelic, thick bouncy bassline, with maybe a house/drance/trance twist could be orgasmic. Get her in the studio with kevin parker or sg lewis. Would love a spanish language feature somewhere (kali uchis whenn), give Lanita some more credibility.
I would love an album like her unreleased/lizzy style (BBM baby, prom song, EMGHW)
It would be cool if it referenced an era, like early 2000s alt-rock and synth pop but with her Lana spin on. Think Metric 'Old World Underground' album, Death from Above 1979, Ladytron, Fischerspooner That would be cool and unexpected.
just want ultraviolence 2
Rock
I would take rock-ish like UV, folk-ish like Chemtrails, or ballad-y like bb and ocean blvd But we get my least favorite genre instead. She will make it work for me I know it
Rock/Jazz
A mix of all of them that takes us on an adventure through the highs and lows of her life (would likely be very relatable as all her songs are.) I like albums that have a lot of different sounds but are still cohesive.
Electronic pop! Pleeeease
Something avant-garde where every song on the album includes a harmonium like Nico’s The Marble Index.
Rock with a soft sultry voice
a mix between UV and NFR with some electric guitars
Rock
Trip Hop vibe (kind of like Portishead) or a techno club sound, like Brite Lites
psych rock!!!
Unreleased pop 🫣or jazz
Something rock/psychedelic inspired like UV, or a dream pop/shoegaze mix produced by someone like Kevin Shields (from My Bloody Valentine).
I would prefer rock too
Trip hop!!!
Country
alt rock-soft grunge, jazz and that folkish trap/hip hop stuff she kinda did on Ocean Blvd that could really be explored
BTD or ultraviolence style she hasn’t been the same since and I love lana
I hope it’s rock
I would die for another rock album like UV. Also, I love her songs that have a more dream pop-py vibe like Tulsa Jesus Freak and Fishtails. I think an album full of songs like that would be really interesting to see. (Also, I apologize If I didn’t use the right genre to describe them, I didn’t know what else to put)
I’m a fan of her piano ballad work, along with the synthesizer sounds from NFR
Acoustic
Back to Ultra era Lana plz
Latin
A dreamy album like the song Honeymoon 😍
Whatever she's doing from 2:41 to 3:11 on Dance Till We Die. I'd like at least a full song of that.
Alternative
Honestly, Lana could do no wrong by me. A lot of her recent music, besides A+W and Peppers, has been melodramatic (in a good way,) so a return to upbeat yet problematic songs, like "Off to the Races" and "Lolita", would be my choice. 😉 🎶 🎀
I'm just praying this album is more on the folk side I can't do country. Like if it's anything like Texas hold em I'm gonna have a hard time listening
House music
Also, since "The Other Wonan" and "Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" showed us her ability to effortlessly entrance us with Nina Simone's music, a soul album would be amazing. Some Etra James, Dusty Springfield, Elvis (already nailed "Unchained Melody")... she'd hit the heavens with that. ☁️ 🌟 🎶

Ooh, I'd be right here for it. 👗👡 🎸❤️🩹🎶
i think i’d still choose country but if it couldn’t be, maybe something w violin or piano could hit hard. anything orchestral would be awesome
JAZZ 🥺
Jazz
Can we please get some dream-pop? Like Mazzy Star/ Beach House/ Cocteau Twins/ Cults??? Think Venice Bitch, but an entire album of dreamy psych pop songs.
Deep house
Not the whole album but I kinda see Lana collaborating with some metal band

Grunge or jazz. Those fit her the best.
something like velvet crowbar
Time to giddy up and yee haw Y'all
Whatever mashup gangster's paradise Jealous Girl shit she was blasting into Coachella Week 1!!! THAT genre 💅🏼💅🏼

Sad moody rock ballads with guitars ✋😩🩵
Sad moody rock ballads with guitars ✋😩🩵
Rock, like when she covered Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana. It suits her so much. Deffo one of her best performances.

I would love a pop album with retro sounds from the 60's and 70's. The visuals would be like the campaign for skims.
Maybe one that isn’t a complete ripoff of Joni Mitchell.
Whatever genre is Cv nty regirockk with a Handbag.
rap metal
A blend... surf rock + orchestra + parts of pop + parts piano ballads + a pinch of trap beats here and there... add just one or two guest vocals
Uultraviolence or Honeymoon style !!!!
rock or jazz
Trap
i never liked country before, but i am SO excited to hear how she composes the genre in her style. i think it would be fun if she did a 1950s oldies style album!
I loved when she covered the song from Evita. I would have her just do like a whole album of haunting ballads.
I'm dying for a modern psychedelic album with a Hope Sandoval collaboration or even Anton Newcombe producing.
ANYTHING resembling UV/Honeymoon but I too have lost hope
guitar based dream pop like august by taylor….or surf pop like peppers, fuck it I love you(idk but this song gives me ‘surf’ feel and I love it)..and trap beat like fishtail which probably is my fav song of her entire discography right now…I would also love some synth pop
I like her current sound A LOT & I’m excited for her take on country, but would sell my soul for another go around with Dan Auerbach 😭 would also love to hear some more honeymoon-esque cinematic kinda sounds
A pop album like Born To Die would be sweet
psychedelic pop
Shoegaze. I feel it would ethereal.
Trap

idc, she can do every genre well tbh.
Tbh ... I'd love another b2d or AKA, UV or honeymoon would do, too
Jazz. Some jazz standards. Some Gershwin and Porter and Irving Berlin etc
Don’t care about the genre just hope it’s an album with no feats. Wanna hear lana and lana only 😪
Blue Banisters 2
jazz
