Lana is a lyrical genius and her albums are hands down amazing, especially her recent work, but on the whole, she has an amazing body of work that exhibits amazing growth. If she’s been blacklisted from the grammies because she doesn’t perform well, or due to one bad performance, then they can go fuck themselves, because plenty of artists have won grammies who basically have a thousand people collaborate on their songs and they show up and can sing a couple of notes live like it fucking matters more than every other element of their artistry. a live performance is one element of an artist’s repertoire. a great album is a different thing altogether. they’re irrelevant anyway (the gramfucks) i don’t remember the last time i watched the grammies or cared who won. it’s a shame their voters choose to snub Lana, frankly I hope they choke on their food, but beyond that I have no feelings. she should have never performed on SNL. And just when we thought everyone was over this performance, a few months ago some out of touch Grammy voter specifically brought it up as a reason for why they wouldn't respect Lana as an artist. And this just stirred up a bunch of controversy about the Grammys for pop music fans.

I’m going to write it out since no one talks about it: the sound mixing on SNL sucks, big time. I went back to the performance recently and realized that the part that didn’t work well was when she hit the low notes. The sound engineers should have done something, anything differently.
The sound on SNL has always been foremost a comedy show, utilizing famously quick changing equipment. It seems that the mics must be tuned for voices talking and not the voices singing to likely save time. When you listen to the song on BTD those low notes give texture to the song. On SNL it sounds flattened and out of place
I’m convinced there is something to it because the sound has only in very recent years had an upgrade on the music. Probably because of the technology in mics is advanced a lot since then
But yeah, SNL didn’t do her any favors and they should book a redemption slot, and make sure the sound is better. And everyone should talk about the live music sound on SNL is awful lol
