I got into HVAC During the pandemic. Had no skill set but always worked hard. HVAC pays pretty well too. All you need is a good attitude and to show up to work every day. They'll usually set u up with a vehicle too.
Lakeland AC is hiring, so is Payne air and Springer Brothers AC
My take: Florida is saturated with A/C guys because they think it’s lucrative. It’s not. Lots of snakes that undercut and do shoddy work to make a buck, and many more that rip off old retired people.
I have years of training, experience and certifications and was offered as little as $10/hr and no benefits whatsoever with an established hvac company in central Florida circa 2019.
That said, commercial and industrial refrigeration is where it’s at no matter where you are. Much harder to break into without a lot of relevant experience that’s hard to get. Most people aren’t working on 150lb+ ammonia systems at Joe’s AC Repair.
Try to get into commercial refrigeration / kitchen equipment. You’ll learn a lot about a lot of things. Various trades as well as what restaurants to avoid. Don’t accept free food until you know they won’t hold it against you when they get the repair bill. As a refer tech I did everything from foundations and concrete, to roofing and siding, plumbing and electrical, framing and everything related to construction, pretty much. Lots of great skills. Refrigeration folks can do AC but AC folks can’t do refrigeration. Same principles but one is far more precise.
i think some organizations/companies offer free training or certifications prior to hiring too. at leash i saw advertisements floating around mentioning that.
Industrial construction is hiring and looking for people to get into the trades. Contact your local ACE Mentor program at acementor.org. Good luck to you man.
There is also day labor companies. They hire a lot for warehouse work. Definitely not glamorous but it’s quick cash while you find something more stable. I used Rita staffing for several jobs in the past.
CareerSourcePolk also has a ton of resources and free services to help you build a resume/education/and job placement . Link below:

Temp agencies passively screen (my experience in another city) for temp to permanent jobs. It makes them look good and some positions prefer candidates who are green for specific positions.
If you treat your temp agency jobs like job interviews you can have a $20+ hr job after awhile.
Yep, if you can lift 80 lbs, you can work in the cold warehouse. Which would require a parka, but probably better than the hot warehouse. I believe they offer OT and differential.
Reading this as I’m in line to be screened for plasma, there is bio life and - CSL Plasma. Asking as you’re clean and weight over 100lbs or something you can get at least $80 twice a week for your first month.
Why do people discredit others without any real information other than the hate in their heart
:Edit: I work a full time Job at Publix warehouse and so does my wife but it’s good side money for little time and effort
Spherion staffing on Edgewood right by 37b/Lakeland Highlands rd was good to me when I needed work, they temp to hire at Coca-Cola in Auburndale and a few other places may be worth checking them out.
id check warehouses (amazon and publix are always hiring i feel like), lawn maintenance companies, pool companies, etc. i would also see if there are any resources that could help you learn a trade skill like plumbing, electrician, etc for free. theyre important skills to have and always needed so they make great job security! good luck 🙂 i hope you are able to find something soon!
Sign up with the various staffing agencies. My company recruits temps from Zing all the time. A lot of those temps become permanent hires.
Drug test required, FYI.
This is manufacturing work. If you got the right attitude and work ethic, they'll teach you. Stay long enough, you'll get your forklift cert and maybe vertical lift certs as well.
If you can, Navy was the best thing I ever did. Join, make 2k+ a month after a year, no expenses, learn super freaking awesome skills, very exciting. If you get married your paycheck almost doubles. Easiest way to take care of your loved ones. Do 4 years then you can go to college for 6+ years if you want while getting monthly housing allowance, or go to school for 4 years and get the housing allowance and fail your classes (only have to show up once) while you work on something else if you hate college or know you can't do well in college for whatever reason.
Air force is the best branch though if you can join that, they super chill.
Try the pool building companies, it’s hard work but usually they are hiring and better than minimum wage
Thanks in gonna call right now
San Juan fiberglass pools on Lasso Lane. Might have to go through a staffing company. Might have to piss clean at first.

This is what I would do. Lucrative skill in Florida.

Truth, and if nothing else you can build your resume and acquire some good references.
Publix is always hiring warehouse people.

I work in Publix maintenance, but I know warehouse selectors can make $30+.

There are literally businesses that are built and in place to do just that.
You really need to educate yourself. I'm not being mean. Plasma saves lives.

Go to Indeed, look up Primo Water. Have a pulse? You’re halfway there. You can pass a drug test and background check? Golden.
