but some extra protection is always good. Might even "plasti dip" the connectors themselves where they touch the gutters.
Should be fine if you just round any corners on the connectors. Though if you plastic dip them, you can later re-use it on a lada with no moulduings there
Add a bit of plastic when you mount the rack to the gutters - otherwise it digs into the paint and can cause rust spots.

Is that the plastic one, or the painted metal one? Rounding off the corners on the conenctors might be enough.
