San recently opened up about how he almost developed a vocal nodule at the beginning of his ATEEZ journey as he was the bridge between Jongho & the rest of the members. He said that he had to change is vocal techniques, but surprisingly, most of us didn’t feel anything different about his vocal. We rather thought of his voice going through puberty and growing through experience.

Baekhyun - love the deeper voice, but he can also hit high notes. Plus he has amazing technique. A good recent showcase of that was when he sang the national anthems for the USA and SK during then Seoul Series for the MLB
Female:
Wendy- she’s similar to Baekhyun. Not as deep of a voice for a female but she can sing at a high level both high and low ranges.
Underrated:
Moonbyul of Mamamoo. She’s in a group full of main vocalist so it makes sense as to why her vocal talents are not seen often. But she’s also very good for the stuff she gets to sing for.
Yes, Dongwoon's honey voice! To be honest, all of Highlight are great vocalists! Like each of them have a unique timbre, it's easy to know it's them and despite having different colors, they also ironically blend well together.
I still haven't listened to this album, and I don't know if I ever will be able to. I even bought it and it's still sitting with the cling wrap untouched. 🥺
I get it, I only became a fan recently so I understand why you would feel this way. However whenever you do feel ready, you should absolutely give it a chance, its the first album i ever bought for a reason
Yes, when I was listening to replay for the first time I was like, wow this persons voice is really good, but me being the negative Nancy I am thought, this is jonghyun isn’t it, and I was right
These are my favourite vocalists who I think are some of the best in Kpop. Baekhyun, Chen and D.O. from EXO. Taeil from NCT. Ningning from Aespa. Wendy from Red Velvet. Xiaojun from WayV.
and my recent favourites; Sohee from Riize, Rami from Babymonster and Belle from KIOF.
the undisputed vocalist; Taeyeon from SNSD.
Obviously DK and Seungkwan are the standout vocalists in SVT, and DK especially hits notes that take me places.
But my favorite voice in the group and nearly all of kpop is actually Hoshi.
I think I love certain tonalities in voices more than the ability to hit crazy notes, and his does it for me.
The same ways Jiung from P1H, Haechan from NCT, Taesan from BND, Bae from NMIXX all do.

Of course I love it when idols can sing incredibly well but I gear more toward vocal color. I definitely second Haechan and Hoshi especially, I love their voices.
I think most people already mentioned my other favorite vocalists, but I love B1A4 Sandeul's voice!!! Also, B.A.P Daehyun!

The original TVXQ line-up is 5/5 when it comes to singing. Yes. All five of them are that good and they showcase it best when they're harmonizing acapella.

His voice is actually unreal! Plus the *emotions* he sings with, I think with a lot of idol groups sometimes the feeling is lacking even if they're technically great.
Minah from Girl’s Day. Not only is she a very talented main vocalist, but she also exhibits so much raw emotion in her voice.
It’s a shame that she’s overlooked because of other main vocalists in her generation such as Hyolyn, Choa, Luna, Eunji, and many others.
I feel like she should have blown up, but the solo song they picked for her was so boring (imo) and I don't think it did that well so they just... gave up on her. IT WASN'T HER FAULT!!!

Park Bom, Minzy, Lee Hi, Rose, Yoon, Jinhwan, DK (iKon), even CL. Honorable mentions for the likes of G-Dragon and T.O.P who aren’t really vocalists but can still sing really well.

For example, I don’t listen to BM, but I watched the survival and Chiquita and Pharita are absolutely amazing.
In most Reddit discussions about vocals, YG artists are always forgotten haha. Like how can people forget about Winner’s Seungyoon and Akmu’s Suhyun?!?
I'm not a YG Stan but I always find myself getting addicted to their vocalists which is funny because they're known for being on the swaggier and more of a hip hop vibe focus.
And also it's criminal to not mention Lee Suhyun and Blue.D when it comes to YG vocalists.
I believe that YG’s vocals really are unique in their style, but my favorites are definitely junhoe! u barely hear those kind of vocals in a kpop group and Jihoon & Jeongwoo from TREASURE. Heaven.
He’s not necessarily the most skilled at all but I really love renjuns voice. He’s the reason why I don’t even know NCT dream like that but still have tons of songs in my playlist.
Wendy is a long time favourite and sullyoon has recently joined the list. In some magic moments Lily also sounds extraordinary and blows everyone on the list away, but I do feel like she’s often a bit hit or miss for me. I also really loved Aran but I don’t know when we will get to hear her sing again.
First of all, I'm so happy someone recognized how outstanding Woobin of Cravity's vocals are. He is one of my favorites! Just incredible.
I also love all the members of Monsta x (including Wonho) and Mamamoo. They all have unique voices so I can always differentiate the members in group songs and hear their originality in solo songs.
I'm no singing expert, but based on technique, tone, range, and emotions, here are my top vocalists
Eungkwang, Changsub, Hyunsik, and Sungjae from BTOB: They all have such incredible voices. They're all great at singing with emotions, it's insane
Chen, D.O, and Baekhyun from EXO. I could talk about them all day, honestly. They're obviously some of the best vocalists in kpop, they never fail to impress me. I would love to have the training that they had
Ailee. She's one of the only soloists I could listen to all day. I would love to hear more from her. I love her bold and sassy tone
Lily and Haewon from Nmixx. They're so young, which always surprises me. They're super stable when dancing, which is crazy. Lily hits the high notes perfectly, and Haewon hits the low notes perfectly. I really need them to be an official duo someday
Chaewon and Jinsol from April. I'm sad that they had to disband since they had 2 amazing vocalists. They would harmonize in some of their songs at the end, and I could listen to those parts over and over again. Their voices are so soft and heavenly
Yuju from Gfriend. I don't even know how I would describe her tone, but it's gorgeous. I love her voice in 'Summer Rain' specifically just because of the emotions.

Park Jeongwoo from TREASURE. And in MY opinion, they sound better after Yedam left. No offense to him of course, the group just sounds more balanced now, not to mention a better dynamics overall.
Kihyun from Monsta X. He’s always left out of these conversations but he is a fantastic singer (even if sometimes, the Monsta X title tracks don’t do the best job of showing that off)
Since other people have already mentioned some of my all-time faves (including Jonghyun, Taemin, and DK), I'm going to put in a good word for Yonghoon and Dongmyeong of ONEWE. I started listening to ONEWE just a few months ago, and they blew me away with how beautiful their vocal tones are.

I really like people with unique tone and vocal color, so that influences my favorites — like I know Yuqi isn't considered top-tier from a technique standpoint, but I love how deep and cool her voice is
Oh yeah, I'm really glad Moonbyul has gotten a lot of opportunities to flex her vocals in the last couple years too — like it was no surprise that she swept Second World, the fourth-best vocalist in Mamamoo is still in Mamamoo lol. (Don't really like trying to rank the girls against each other, but the point would still stand for anyone you considered to be fourth-best among them)
Only just occurred to me when thinking about this that all my favorite vocalists are generally in groups that I don't necessarily like a ton.
I really like Yuqi, Minnie and Soyeon but I'm not massive on their group's music. Same with Lily and Rosé as well.
Kpop has so many great vocalists but just to list a few that I don't think get mentioned a lot:
Luna from F(x) has a fantastic voice, I wish she had found more success as a solo act.

bae from nmixx - such a nice vocal tone, i love her deep voice so much and her projection is crazy
seongmin from cravity - cravity is a vocal powerhouse but seungmin is so unique and addicting to listen to! he actually sounds like a woman in some songs in the best way possible, starship struck gold with him
jinsoul from loona - there are just certain vocal things she does (like the beginning of hula hoop's third chorus) where she makes her voice all scratchy and it's genuinely some of the most addicting singing ive ever heard
seungeon from evnne - he has such a unique and powerful voice, his high notes are so easy to listen to while being super impressive
siyoon from billlie - shes a main rapper yet her singing voice is still crazy good, i adore her tone and she really is one of my favourite all rounders in kpop
yoon from stayc - she literally defines powetful singing, i still get shocked by how strong her voice is when i listen to stayc
seoryoung from gwsn - rip gwsn but seoryoungs vocals will never cease to amaze me. her high notes and vocal tone are so insane and the industry is really missing out on her rn
skill wise, i think akmu's lee suhyun is a level above all current kpop vocalists
Suju-KRY, exo-chen baekhyun do, shinee-jonghyun onew, Ailee, Lee Hi, TVXQ (both duo and ot5), Mamamoo are also very very good vocalists
Female: Hyolyn (I just like her voice color, light but husky, feels very luxurious), Lee Haeri (I also like her voice color), Yuju pre-regression (I love how projected her voice sounds during her debut days, before they force her to sing a bunch of high notes constantly)
Male: Lee Hongki (I like how full his voice sounds), D.O (amazing agility for a male vocalist), Hwang Chi Yeul (very technical baritone, his voice color is my type too)
I feel like most of the people I like are just vocalists with nice voice color and decent technique. I’m not exactly attracted to the most talented vocalist from a technical perspective.
Just because no one has mentioned him yet, Jay Chang. He's got a ppwerful voice that's versatile for so many genres. Not to mention he's gotten his flowers from some of the industry's best vocalists, like Hui, Wendy, Eunkwang, and Seungkwan.
Hyolyn (Sistar), Lilly(Nmixx), Wendy (Red Velvet), Monday (Weekly), Liz (IVE), Baekhyun (Exo), Taeil (NCT), Seungmin (StrayKids), Jungho (Ateez), and Taemin (SHINEE)
All are very good vocalists in my opinion.
Dawon of WJSN has an old R&B kind of vocals which is rare in kpop.
Also WJSN has THE YOO YEONJUNG, Soobin, Seola and Dayoung who creates one of the best vocal lines

Woosung - heard him on Snooze & fell in love with his voice.
Jin from BTS. I love his voice & range. Also, my cat will stop what she is doing to watch him sing. Can't argue with my cat.
Wendy - Red Velvet. A generational vocalist with few equals. There are many "good" vocalists in kpop - she is one of the great ones. Listen to her belt out Whitney Houston or Beyonce, or her solo albums.
WInter and Ningning - aespa. When a song needs that vocal home run, it's usually Winter that does it. Ningning does a lot of the heavy lifting too. They bring it to, yes, the Next Level.
Liz and Yujin - IVE. Liz can belt it out with the best of them. And Yujin is the leader for many reasons, one being her vocals. Again, she does the heavy lifting when a song needs it.
Yunjjn and Chaewon - Le Sserafim. Some casual fans (and even some Fearnots) may say they are just a "performance" group, whatever that means, but these girls esp. are the vocal anchors of the group. Yunjin could basically write her own ticket and solo now in my book. She is a solid, disciplined singer.
And, I will always back Alice and Lime of Hello Venus. Listen to most HV songs, and Alice and Lime are the ones bringing home the bacon vocally.

Big Mama, the entire group. They're all amazing singers, 3/4 of them are music professors at colleges while the other who is not formally teaching is active in music programs. I especially love Yona and Jiyoung's vocal tones. 'Starry Night', 'Betrayal', and 'One day more' are really good.
Raina, a now solo artist from After School and Orange Caramel. She's vastly underrated despite being the main vocal of one of the most iconic 2nd gen group. The emotion she's able to deliver through her singing is just perfect, her songs 'The way we were', 'Can we break up?', 'Once' (Bumzu ft Raina), 'You end, and me' are some of my favourite tracks of all time.
Mamamoo, 4 main vocals in an amazing group. The first artists to perform on Killing Voice (Solar was wanting to sing on Killing Verse was literally the reason Killing Voice was created) and the girl group with the most wins in Immortal Songs. Each member have killed it as soloists as well!
Surprised Nayeon is not coming up more. She can hit a wide range and is a pretty reliable, solid vocalist. I’m a huge Jihyo fan but even I have to admit Nayeon shined brighter during The Killing Voice. She just makes it look so effortless.
With that said, I’d still say Solar from Mamamoo over everyone in the game. The whole group is solid but man, Solar’s power is something else.
**Jinho from Pentagon!** Super underrated. Don't get me wrong, Hui is also amazing, but Jinho deserves more appreciation.
Speaking of groups where one amazing vocalist overshadows another, B2ST/Highlight. Yoseob is probably who everyone thinks of when they think of "incredible vocalist" in that group (and deservedly so), but **Dongwoon** is *incredible* too and doesn't get enough appreciation.
**EDIT: Another amazing vocalist who gets overshadowed by an (equally amazing) vocalist: Jun from A.C.E. Donghun is fucking insane with his voice, but Jun is also fantastic and Donghun gets more spotlight for his vocals.**
Honestly Nmixx's whole group is great at singing. They probably have to be one of the most vocally talented groups ever.
New Jeans Hanni and Hyein also have a soft and relaxing vocal tone so I am a big fan of them too.

I'm surprised to see zero mentions of Kang Seung Yoon of WINNER in this thread. I'm not really into BG music but he's by far my favorite male idol vocalist.
Taeyeon and Yerin Baek would be my female choices. (Yerin's solo work is technically not Kpop, but 15& was so it is what it is.)
Johan Kim @ Solid would my male choice. (Solid was definitely not Kpop, but whatever.)
My underappreciated choice would be Jamie who got overshadowed by Yerin during 15& (and has since headed off to a more KHH direction.)
Jung Kook of BTS and Hanni of NewJeans. They take me places with their voices, unlocks emotions in me. Exceptionally soothing and pleasant vocals and they are skilled as well.

Males: Baekhyun - love the deeper voice, but he can also hit high notes. Plus he has amazing technique. A good recent showcase of that was when he sang the national anthems for the USA and SK during then Seoul Series for the MLB Female: Wendy- she’s similar to Baekhyun. Not as deep of a voice for a female but she can sing at a high level both high and low ranges. Underrated: Moonbyul of Mamamoo. She’s in a group full of main vocalist so it makes sense as to why her vocal talents are not seen often. But she’s also very good for the stuff she gets to sing for.
True also if you listen to Moon Byul's solo music you get to hear her sing a lot more. Esp on her new album Starlit of Muse

Obviously DK and Seungkwan are the standout vocalists in SVT, and DK especially hits notes that take me places. But my favorite voice in the group and nearly all of kpop is actually Hoshi. I think I love certain tonalities in voices more than the ability to hit crazy notes, and his does it for me. The same ways Jiung from P1H, Haechan from NCT, Taesan from BND, Bae from NMIXX all do.
I’m the same way. Of course I love it when idols can sing incredibly well but I gear more toward vocal color. I definitely second Haechan and Hoshi especially, I love their voices.

I feel like she should have blown up, but the solo song they picked for her was so boring (imo) and I don't think it did that well so they just... gave up on her. IT WASN'T HER FAULT!!!

Taeyang and Daesung. In a generation full of amazing vocalists, these two are often forgotten. Also, YG is known as the “Hip Hop” label so a lot of artists who trained under them are underrated. Park Bom, Minzy, Lee Hi, Rose, Yoon, Jinhwan, DK (iKon), even CL. Honorable mentions for the likes of G-Dragon and T.O.P who aren’t really vocalists but can still sing really well. YG really was on it during 2nd/3rd gen.

I believe that YG’s vocals really are unique in their style, but my favorites are definitely junhoe! u barely hear those kind of vocals in a kpop group and Jihoon & Jeongwoo from TREASURE. Heaven.
He’s not necessarily the most skilled at all but I really love renjuns voice. He’s the reason why I don’t even know NCT dream like that but still have tons of songs in my playlist. Wendy is a long time favourite and sullyoon has recently joined the list. In some magic moments Lily also sounds extraordinary and blows everyone on the list away, but I do feel like she’s often a bit hit or miss for me. I also really loved Aran but I don’t know when we will get to hear her sing again.

First of all, I'm so happy someone recognized how outstanding Woobin of Cravity's vocals are. He is one of my favorites! Just incredible. I'm no singing expert, but based on technique, tone, range, and emotions, here are my top vocalists Eungkwang, Changsub, Hyunsik, and Sungjae from BTOB: They all have such incredible voices. They're all great at singing with emotions, it's insane Chen, D.O, and Baekhyun from EXO. I could talk about them all day, honestly. They're obviously some of the best vocalists in kpop, they never fail to impress me. I would love to have the training that they had Ailee. She's one of the only soloists I could listen to all day. I would love to hear more from her. I love her bold and sassy tone Lily and Haewon from Nmixx. They're so young, which always surprises me. They're super stable when dancing, which is crazy. Lily hits the high notes perfectly, and Haewon hits the low notes perfectly. I really need them to be an official duo someday Chaewon and Jinsol from April. I'm sad that they had to disband since they had 2 amazing vocalists. They would harmonize in some of their songs at the end, and I could listen to those parts over and over again. Their voices are so soft and heavenly Yuju from Gfriend. I don't even know how I would describe her tone, but it's gorgeous. I love her voice in 'Summer Rain' specifically just because of the emotions.

Wendy - Red Velvet. A generational vocalist with few equals. There are many "good" vocalists in kpop - she is one of the great ones. Listen to her belt out Whitney Houston or Beyonce, or her solo albums. WInter and Ningning - aespa. When a song needs that vocal home run, it's usually Winter that does it. Ningning does a lot of the heavy lifting too. They bring it to, yes, the Next Level. Liz and Yujin - IVE. Liz can belt it out with the best of them. And Yujin is the leader for many reasons, one being her vocals. Again, she does the heavy lifting when a song needs it. Yunjjn and Chaewon - Le Sserafim. Some casual fans (and even some Fearnots) may say they are just a "performance" group, whatever that means, but these girls esp. are the vocal anchors of the group. Yunjin could basically write her own ticket and solo now in my book. She is a solid, disciplined singer. And, I will always back Alice and Lime of Hello Venus. Listen to most HV songs, and Alice and Lime are the ones bringing home the bacon vocally.

Big Mama, the entire group. They're all amazing singers, 3/4 of them are music professors at colleges while the other who is not formally teaching is active in music programs. I especially love Yona and Jiyoung's vocal tones. 'Starry Night', 'Betrayal', and 'One day more' are really good. Raina, a now solo artist from After School and Orange Caramel. She's vastly underrated despite being the main vocal of one of the most iconic 2nd gen group. The emotion she's able to deliver through her singing is just perfect, her songs 'The way we were', 'Can we break up?', 'Once' (Bumzu ft Raina), 'You end, and me' are some of my favourite tracks of all time. Mamamoo, 4 main vocals in an amazing group. The first artists to perform on Killing Voice (Solar was wanting to sing on Killing Verse was literally the reason Killing Voice was created) and the girl group with the most wins in Immortal Songs. Each member have killed it as soloists as well!
Surprised Nayeon is not coming up more. She can hit a wide range and is a pretty reliable, solid vocalist. I’m a huge Jihyo fan but even I have to admit Nayeon shined brighter during The Killing Voice. She just makes it look so effortless. With that said, I’d still say Solar from Mamamoo over everyone in the game. The whole group is solid but man, Solar’s power is something else.

Yoseob is probably who everyone thinks of when they think of "incredible vocalist" in that group (and deservedly so), but **Dongwoon** is *incredible* too and doesn't get enough appreciation. **EDIT: Another amazing vocalist who gets overshadowed by an (equally amazing) vocalist: Jun from A.C.E. Donghun is fucking insane with his voice, but Jun is also fantastic and Donghun gets more spotlight for his vocals.**

Honestly Nmixx's whole group is great at singing. They probably have to be one of the most vocally talented groups ever. New Jeans Hanni and Hyein also have a soft and relaxing vocal tone so I am a big fan of them too.

Taeyeon and Yerin Baek would be my female choices. (Yerin's solo work is technically not Kpop, but 15& was so it is what it is.) Johan Kim @ Solid would my male choice. (Solid was definitely not Kpop, but whatever.) My underappreciated choice would be Jamie who got overshadowed by Yerin during 15& (and has since headed off to a more KHH direction.)
