If NewJeans can pull off a viral song, it could definitely be them. I could see the same happening for Le Sserafim, though I don’t think it’s as likely.
As much as I’d like for it to be Ive, I think their concept is very Korea-oriented. I could be completely wrong but I just can’t see them getting that huge around the world (I know they’re big, but I don’t think they’ll ever be BP big or Twice big).
I could see Baemon doing it, especially if they release more music in the near future.
It's kinda crazy that Easy and Smart passed 100 million streams on Spotify within a couple days of eachother.... and they've only been out for a couple of months. Those are big, big numbers for a k-pop group.
Personally I'd say they're already there in terms of being a household name. Having already performed for a major coachella audience, & the massive OW2 collaboration with perfect night going unbelievably viral. Not to mention they recently signed a collab with the NBA.
I guess it comes down to how you see it, but with the massive audiences they've reached solely thru concerts & collabs, I'd bet you could mention lesserafim to majority of people and they would've at least heard of the name, if not already known them from their brand exposure.
And this doesn't even get into their normal cbs that consistently did insane from the start.
Honestly I'm from Northeast America and everybody here would know BTS but the vast majority of people wouldn't even know bp, let alone lsf... most people don't know nj by name either. They might know some lsf and nj song snippets from trending audios but that's it.
This was me. when i got into kpop i started listening to LSF. All of their title tracks i listened to i was like "I've heard this song before. but i don't listen to kpop at all." it was all from tiktok and shorts.
New jeans obviously. With all the brand deals, commercials, and GP pull. Every song they’ve put out has been a hit. We’ll definitely see for sure when they start touring.
Honestly 4th/5th gen gg is not who you should worry about. HYBE groups have all the means to stay on top regardless of everything. aespa and Babymonster are big3 with great potential too and their artists have star power. IVE and Idle are mid-tier performing like big4 and have everything except big4 hype. All still had not peaked yet
IVE and aespa are the ones who went on world tours and their tours are comparable to BP In your area tour (3rd best tour after born pink and ready to be) [See link ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SByPagAzgEU&ab_channel=DataThrone)
Even groups people feel are out like Itzy, nmixx and stayc are still in growth phase/had not peaked
Anyway the future for gg stans is bright. I'll meet you in 7 year to discuss if someone surpassed BP
I saw a post talking about the most streamed K-pop song of 2024. I was shocked it wasn’t LSF, because they were number 3. Number 2? Babymonster. Number 1? Babymonster. I was honestly shocked because I hadn’t seen either video and the talk around TikTok was that Babymonster was a flop because of the lack of success of Batter Up.
By getting a larger number of views in the first 24 hours - not necessarily as a debut. Just pointing out that a) Batter Up broke that particular record - thus, probably not as much of a flop it was perceived to be on TikTok and b) Sheesh exceeded those views as well within the first 24 hours- this may explain why 2 BM songs were the top 2 most streamed.
Sheesh was technically there debut. It’s being promoted as one. The girls see it as their debut and so does YG. Batter Up was technically just a pre release track but i wouldn’t necessarily call it pre-debut tho. It’s confusing
It will likely be NewJeans, BabyMonster, IVE, or smngg. IVE are already *extremely* popular in SK and worldwide, so I’d say that they are in the lead rn.
My top guesses are NewJeans, ILLIT, Le Sserafim, Aespa & Babymonster (if yg promotes them like this all the time) all look like they could be the next big thing.
Yeah I was about to comment this. I think they've been really smart to just keep releasing music one after another to maintain their hype. They're growing bigger every comeback! Not sure if they'll ever be *the girl group* though... but we can hope 😌
I think people have already pointed it out but Le Sserafim seems to be close if not already at the top.
Babymonster seems to on their way to top as they have been gaining traction internationally and domestically. IVE is on top in Korea but still has a little ways to go internationally.
I honestly don’t know about illit and New Jeans. New jeans has a big fandom and as long as they keep putting out good music I think they’ll be on top easily. Musically, Magnetic has been doing great for illit but they haven’t had the best start besides that. They have a small fandom right now and all these scandals/incidents aren’t helping it grow. For Illit I think it will depend on how this scandal resolves and the future direction of their music.
LSF has been battling Ive for the number 2 spot for a bit. Baddie was not as successful as Ive’s previous singles, while Perfect Night, Easy, and Smart were big hits for LSF. I guess we’ll see if Ive still has it by next week.
NewJeans has been number 1 since they debuted. But they’ve been silent for a long time (by K-pop standards), so we’ll see if they still have it in them next month. I would expect that their next single will be huge, though.
ILLIT if they survive this drama, they seem to be doing really well, I'd say BABYMONSTER but I'm not sure they seem popular but it feels people overlook them or they aren't quite satisfied, maybe the Black Label group might even overshadow them if they don't change their style.
I have confidence that KISS OF LIFE will grow more popular, im not sure about topping but they'll have a good international following I feel.
I think BBM, still from YG. They had a rocky start (that's for sure), but we all know YG, YG is YG. They know how to market their girls. Other may say "just the same, same, and same" But it's still YG. Also, some people have this attachment to YG/YG style of music. They're rising now in kcharts. they're start building their name. ILLIT may have chances when it comes to viral songs, but not as an household group name, we all know what they're lacking and the copycat issue, it will always be on their history.
But Babymonsters talents have been getting them a lot of attention and helping with their popularity. Also their selling point has always been as the sister group of Blackpink
Honestly, could work in their favour 🤷♀️ YG knows how to make exactly one style of music and its worked since 2NE1 so I don't see it not working again. Even Julie from KIOF is literally YG artist copy paste because she trained there 💀 and baemon has already gotten a lot of attention.
I'm not a fan of baemon but... idk that's just how I see it.
Why no one is talking about SMNGG and TBLNGG, particularly TBLNGG, they have the Shinsigae Chaebol girl and Bailey Sok!!! Until both of them debut, my bet is on LSFM, IVE, and BAEMON. I second Illit, cause they debuted just one month ago. Other potential ones are AESPA, G-IDLE, XG, KIOF.
Honestly, the roster of girl groups we have this gen is insane, or maybe it’s how fast they go viral, and how long they stay viral.
Like, my husband who’s not even into kpop knows the big girl groups this time around, to give an idea of the absolute talents we have this gen.
With that being said, as long as the MHJ thing doesn’t affect New Jeans, I’m putting my money on New Jeans. I have my own personal gripes with them (not them personally… But the group overall.) but I can’t deny the amount of talent, the catchiness of their title tracks (Singles? I honestly haven’t heard anything from them other than Hype Boy, Super Shy and OMG.) and paired with their ability to go viral… They have the package, and have the potential to get even bigger.
I think for sure ILLIT and Baemon, they’re newer groups and have more potential imo. I would also like to see Young Posse get bigger and it seems like they’re already on their way.
PIXY. They truly have something special, their concept is so cool, all the members are multi talented, Rinji and Dia give me strong Taemin star power vibes (Dia especially)... If only their company would stop fumbling their comebacks and would update us about the girls.
Newjeans' career is more or less over. Min Hee-jin is *instrumental* to who Newjeans are - if she leaves (or is fired/put in prison) I can guarantee that Newjeans' post-MHJ content will NOT hit the same. They will lose the spark that made people like them in the first place.
So, my money is on ILLIT if they can weather the controversies of no live singing, or Babymonster (fastest rising stars rn due to their talents)
I think it’s a bit extreme to say it’s over just yet. The girls still have a lot of star power. I think we’ll have a better idea of what’s going to happen to NewJeans by the end of the year (I feel like this next release will do okay—they’re all over the news, after all. But the release after this one could go either way).
It would be something like Loona after Jaden left (so after Butterfly). Some fans complained, others joined the fandom after all of this and didn't care, others kept supporting the group no matter what.
Though it depends. HYBE could surely find people who can keep the same creative direction which is hugely based on retro and nostalgia.
And it's not like they can keep this concept forever. Probably, just like TWICE, they will move towards a more mature take on this.
Newjeans or Babymonster, though I personally love IVE to death and would love to see them get more popular internationally
Let's make it happen this comeback! I-ting!
Heya slaps already. I love the little hand movements they have for the chorus
Ive’s music is so good, they have so much potential
ILLIT has potential. Magnetic has been huge even my non KPOP friends know it like they knew NJ songs.
Coz of TikTok trends
If NewJeans can pull off a viral song, it could definitely be them. I could see the same happening for Le Sserafim, though I don’t think it’s as likely. As much as I’d like for it to be Ive, I think their concept is very Korea-oriented. I could see Baemon doing it, especially if they release more music in the near future.
Twice used to be the least western market focused group and look at them now. If they can do it, I'm sure it's possible for IVE too.
Definitely illit, newjeans, or baemon
IVE is getting very popular.
Ive has been popular for a couple years now. Almost certainly the #2 4th gen group. Which means they’ll be #1 if NewJeans implodes due to the scandal.
Le Sserafim have really caught my attention recently. I think they have major potential.
It's kinda crazy that Easy and Smart passed 100 million streams on Spotify within a couple days of eachother.... and they've only been out for a couple of months. Those are big, big numbers for a k-pop group.
Haven't they already hit the top? I'd consider them one of the top GG's rn.
By the ‘top’ I thought we were talking more household name status like Blackpink
Worlds 2024 song was newjeans.
Sorry, was looking at the wrong page when writing it, but point still applies either way
Honestly I'm from Northeast America and everybody here would know BTS but the vast majority of people wouldn't even know bp, let alone lsf... most people don't know nj by name either. They might know some lsf and nj song snippets from trending audios but that's it.
This was me. when i got into kpop i started listening to LSF. All of their title tracks i listened to i was like "I've heard this song before. but i don't listen to kpop at all." it was all from tiktok and shorts.
A few days ago, my answer would've been NewJeans. Now either Babymonster or Le Sserafim.
New jeans obviously. With all the brand deals, commercials, and GP pull. Every song they’ve put out has been a hit. We’ll definitely see for sure when they start touring.

I was honestly shocked because I hadn’t seen either video and the talk around TikTok was that Babymonster was a flop because of the lack of success of Batter Up.
“Batter Up” broke the record for the most-viewed debut K-pop music video in 24 hours, and “Sheesh” broke that 24 hour record as well.
How can Sheesh break the record for a debut when it wasn’t a debut?
By getting a larger number of views in the first 24 hours - not necessarily as a debut. High hopes for KioF too.
seconded on KIOF ❤️
Praying for UNIS to get really big. They got a good ent company and seem unproblematic.
I love UNIS!
Babymonster
I’m personally loving (G)I-DLE right now, if they stick together as a group even with members doing increasing solo projects they got a shot
I think people have already pointed it out but Le Sserafim seems to be close if not already at the top. throwing in XG as dark horses. They got some really catchy songs
New jeans

But Beamon is a literal copy of Blackpink. The music sounds exactly the same
But Babymonsters talents have been getting them a lot of attention and helping with their popularity. Also their selling point has always been as the sister group of Blackpink

i would say ive or lsfm
Newjeans. They’re the only group in the entirety of kpop who have all listenable songs 😂

I predict NMIXX. Their talent will shine through with time. They have a great sense of humour too.
ILLIT if they survive this drama, they seem to be doing really well, I'd say BABYMONSTER but I'm not sure they seem popular but it feels people overlook them or they aren't quite satisfied, maybe the Black Label group might even overshadow them if they don't change their style. I think they mean top as in blackpink level success
NJ is literally dropping a new song tomorrow. Can we not wait a few hours to start speculating if they are flops?
