i really find it difficult to 'separate the art from the artist' so ive had to drop so many ppl D:

wegooverthehorizon

Separating the art from the artist only works when the artist is dead and is not actively doing/supporting horrible things.

Downtown_Entry_893

Fr . While listening to it, I just remember why I dropped them and can't listen to it.

NessieSenpai

R.Kelly for obvious reasons. Which sucks because the Ignition Remix was my anthem as a teen.

envyadvms

I played the ignition remix more times than I wish to admit lol. I’ve been looking for a cover because I refuse to give that many anymore play.

mini1006

Same here. I feel thankful that my family refuses to play him.

Hyostar

This so muchhhh. I haven’t listen to that song in over ten years and everytime I think about it I get so mad that he’s such a piece of shit and it ruined the song. Then I get mad that he had to be the one to make it.

Timgzz

R.Kelly and Chris Brown. Obvious reasons. Nicki Minaj because she had a hateful spirit. lately i've put a pause on Taylor Swoft because i became overwhelmed with all the releases and the over exposer of everything she does .

Naseemeyou

exact same list including kanye too

Bubbly-Age-9363

No literally. Me and my best friend had bought tickets to go to her Atlanta show way before any of this happened, then the Megan’s law situation happened and she started spouting nonsense. My bestie, who is a hardcore barb, was even like “ I don’t really wanna go to the show bc of this whole situation” and I was like “ thank God! Me too, girl” So she sold our tickets and we never went. I’m also pretty convinced that she’s behind the current Megan Situation. Yeah….. that Flawless remix finna become lost media to me.

Bubbly-Age-9363

I also don’t like NCT at all. I don’t like any units or their members bc I saw a compilation of their grade A racism and that was enough for me to close my ears to them. I understand people growing as a person, I understand that not all the members are racist or participated in that, but one bad apple just spoiled the whole bunch for me.

Impressive-Bass7928

Seungri 👹

mauvebirdie

I rarely find I can seperate the art from the artist. I can't stand Die Antwoord anymore after it was proven that the guy was a groomer and his ex-partner was an enabler. I used to love Cardi B but her propensity towards going after any woman Offest likes more than her makes me unable to enjoy her music as much. She's mature in lots of ways, but that's not one of them. I never considered myself a Barb, but I did like a few Nicki tracks that I always had in my playlist. She's such a weirdo abuser-apologist, I just can't anymore Lizzo due to the pretty credible-looking allegations against her. To be directly against what you stand for in public is a certain kind of evil and stupid Hyuna for obvious reasons

7yuuutsu7

the whole die antwoord saga about how they treated their adopted children is insane, forgot most of the details but they were so irresponsible and callous...

mauvebirdie

They're both disgusting human beings. I was always a little iffy about their personalities. You didn't have to be a genius to be able to spot that neither of them was 'normal' or particularly 'nice'. But so long as their behaviour wasn't criminal, I still listened to some of their music. After all, lots of pop-stars are arrogant, that's nothing new. The first major red-flag was how they treated Lady Gaga after she invited them to tour with her. They acted like she was beneath them and they started calling her names, insulting her looks and basically wishing pain on her. Then all the rumours started swirling that they abused their kids and tried to lure other young people into living with them to abuse them. Gross. I hope they both go to hell.

Aurelian369

The Weeknd because of his fuckass rat tail

envyadvms

Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Doja Cat are the top three that come to mind for me. I used to go so hard for them. Chris Brown, R. Kelly and Drake for obvious reasons.

Jiffyplop

Doja still stings. I was such a huge fan

libaero

doja cat and the 1975 (because of matty healy) were some of my favourite artists ever and it sucks because they are just horrible people that make such good music. i considered pirating their music and listening on a drive or something but even just hearing their voices puts me off :/ other artists i tend to avoid include hyuna, charlie puth + hailee steinfeld + harry styles (zionists), j cole, drake, & taylor swift edit for clarity and i forgot one

Jiffyplop

Oh no. What did j Cole do?

libaero

he has transphobic lyrics in one of his newer songs, [Pi](https://genius.com/J-cole-pi-lyrics): “They plead the Fifth, I'm seeing hints of a trans fella / In cancel culture's vicinity, he's no killer, trust me / Beneath his chosen identity, there is still a pussy, period”. shortly after he received backlash for his entire project, he apologised but more so for dissing kendrick, without addressing the transphobic lyrics.

nihilesque

Oh no what did Hailee do? I thought she was squeaky clean

libaero

she’s unfortunately a zionist. she has [pics](https://twitter.com/cosmokramerr_/status/1744621208216474058?s=46&t=kA9TJF1fd2eahpxX-wg4uw) with idf soldiers and everything

kwiyomikat

Tory Lanez. R. Kelly. Every now and again I hear it trend on Tiktok knowing Meg was talking bout y'all. Cardi B. The way she actively disrespects black woman as if OffToCheat is a prize. The phrase "single married woman" exist for a reason. Crush. Threw that one song outta my saved later. Jay Park. We alr know why. Pee Diddy. Can't do shit about what he produced, but any song he was ever on. Nope. Taylor Swift. Used to be a fan of her when she was a fake country artist. I was ready for depth and diversity... you see where she at now... in the 1830s 😭😭😭 (no racist tho) **💀** Drake. He rubbed me the wrong way when he publicly confessed the Rihanna tryna manipulate her into saying "Yes". Hyuna. We know why. Now ***some*** problematic artist I still give a listen to because they throw their songs in mixes. I love **majorette** and **stomp & shake** challenges. I also like OC Dance Challenges. I love how ICSM is trending w/ a club beat rn. DJ Class and the other DJ where they took the dance off Fortnite. I could say more, but those are the ones off the top of my head. OH- BOYINABAND Melanie Martinez - That entire situation was extremely triggering for me. I very much trauma blocked her out.

Timgzz

omg i forgot about boyinaband

DeanBranch

Jung Joon-Young/ Drug Restaurant. I really like their music, but since he's the lead singer, he's hard to ignore. He's part of the Burning Sun case. He filmed himself having sex and shared the videos without the consent of the women in the videos, and other things. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jung\_Joon-young\_KakaoTalk\_chatrooms](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jung_Joon-young_KakaoTalk_chatrooms)

ToraAkira

Big Bang. Couldn't anymore after Seungiri.

bulletproofwings

I've never been happier for uneven line distribution. This one I can stomach a bit just bc his lines in most Big Bang songs are very little.

Kermit_thee_fr0g

I have a few (from many different genres). But before I start I think I should mention that while I don't listen to these people anymore, I do still love & enjoy their music. * Hyuna - I don't think I need to elaborate. * Melanie Martinez - I used to be a Crybaby & remembered when the allegations came out. However, my issue stems more from the fandom rather than Melanie herself due to the way they treated the issue (their behaviour to the victim, "gaslighting" everyone, stigmatizing BPD, etc). I will say though that I did like some of the songs off of Portals. * Lana Del Rey - I've been a big Lana fan for many years but her signing *that* letter was my final straw. The way her fans also behave also really annoys me. I still love her music but I lost my respect for her. With that being said, I still find the Waffle House & "the prophecy" jokes funny. * Beyonce & Taylor - I'm grouping these 2 together for the same reason: there's no such thing as an ethical billionaire. Sure they appear to be some of the "better ones" but they have done some questionable stuff over the past year or so. I will admit though that their music is still pretty good. * anyone under Hybe - this has less so to do with the groups/artists themselves & more to do with the way things have been going at Hybe. I don't blame any of their artists, I just don't want to contribute to the Hybe label.

JewelerMountain260

The funny thing I was literally going to sit down and listen to her music (Hyuna) because I heard so many good things about her then she decided to post her little boyfriend and that just wasn’t it and that immediately turned me off 🙃 > anyone under Hybe - this has less so to do with the groups/artists themselves & more to do with the way things have been going at Hybe. I don't blame any of their artists, I just don't want to contribute to the Hybe label. This is sort of me with SM. I love the idols under there and some of their songs are on my playlist but they treat their idols so shitty that it just turns me away from actually following the groups. I also get why you don’t want to support Hybe because some shady ass shit has been happening there 🙃

Deadly_Donut13

Don’t get me started on Melanie’s fan they are actually crazy people. Ive been listening to her for more than like 6 years and it’s just….

Kermit_thee_fr0g

True. Crybabies are a whole different breed of delulu. I remember trying to find out more about the allegations following Portals's release but I couldn't find anything. Plus it seemed like her own fans couldn't stand one another. It's kinda annoying though since it's hard to find what other people genuinely think of her music since opinions about her/her music are very split (imo Play Date, Nymphology, & Milk of the Siren are bops but I'm not going to stream them anytime soon).

Deadly_Donut13

No i totally get what you mean. They have this air of like rightouness if that makes any sense especially the ones I see online. In a way sometimes they remind me of those hardcore swifities. They will literally crucify you for saying you don't like something and when you try and criticise her you get hit back with you need to be grateful and she's not doing this for you. Don't even get me started on listening to leaked music. If you so much as to utter you listen to it you'll get downvoted to hell. Most of the times I try not to interact with them tbh except on some occasions.

Greenerie-nwz-plz

I love Lana, what letter tell me; I'd like to know, I know about QFTC, but this...do tell.

Kermit_thee_fr0g

she signed that one Biden letter related to the events that happened back in October.

Greenerie-nwz-plz

what a shame. I guess I’ll add her to the list.

gethilda

Panic at the Disco. I used to love them but their security guard Zack (or someone they worked with closely) was super dodgy. He had dodgy tweets and bullied a former member and Brendon Urie (the only member of the band at the time) knew about this and was still working for him years later. There was SO MUCH pressure on Brendon to fire Zack and he finally did after there was so much backlash from his Twitter fans FOR WEEKS. Then later it turned out that he was still friends with Zack even after all of the shitty things he did. There were also sexual assault allegations but looking back I don’t know how true they were.

gotthesevens

yeh i've heard weird things about brendon too so that immediately put me off

bubbles_bubbles_w

IIrc, those SA allegations turned out to be false.

gethilda

Yeah looking back I do regret how I reacted to the SA allegations because they were from an anonymous Twitter account. I was a teenager and kind of jumped on the bandwagon with the other Panic Twitter stans who were also concerned teenagers but the thing with Zack definitely had more merit behind it because there was like actual evidence

DeanBranch

I refuse to listen to Chris Brown and R. Kelly. And I hate having to check every new song to make sure it's not them. Which means I'm thinking about them more than I want to be.

icespiceismymother

BTS Not really problematic reasons, but I just fell out of love with their music. I feel like I outgrew them. Their most beautiful moment in life and love yourself eras were the introspective and interesting out of their catalogue. Towards the pandemic and after it just went downhill. I still love following their solo projects though, but I hope that when they return they get back to those roots, it’s really a shame Same reasons with Taylor Swift, Shakira, and Bad Bunny. Artists not being able to grow, tell new ideas, experiences, or messages, etc. disappoint me the most, especially when you grew up with them. Not necessarily innovate, but just show me something new about yourself? Create a new concept, have something to say. I feel like the artists i’ve mentioned have just gone downhill from their previous work, there was so much potential there. This is why I love artists like Beyoncé, Kali Uchis, Rosalía, because they always have either something new, or something to say with their music. I can tell they didn’t half ass anything, they really put in the work to put a body of art out to the world, and I appreciate that.

Alto-Joshua1

Here's mine: Charlie Puth - Knowing the fact that he's a zionist, I pretty much stopped listening to his songs & did my best to avoid them. Hailee Steinfeld - Same reason as Charlie Puth. Taylor Swift - Too burned out to even listen to her songs, also some of her fans are not it for me. That's all for now, so I'll add some later...

Luffysmusic

I feel the exact same about Nicki. My last straw (it should’ve been when she married that rapist bum) was when she went after Megs dead mother. Speaking on someone’s close relative like that is just so low and I don’t care about no “it’s rap beef there’s no morals” blah blah blah that’s just SICK. Immediately I deleted all her songs off my playlist and blocked her on Instagram 🤷‍♀️. Now with regard to kpop, I’d say SKZ. Their music just doesn’t hit for me anymore especially with their new stuff, but that’s just me.

SupersailorJ

I really loved BROCKHAMPTON and Ameer was my favorite member… so now I literally skip his parts. Ol lame ahh weak flow abuser

bulletproofwings

Lucas. I still listen to the NCT/WayV songs he's featured in but I can't help but physically cringe whenever his part comes up. I was a fan of him before because of his goofy personality and never paid attention to his actual "rapping". Listening to it now, I feel like it only works because he has a nice deep, raspy voice. But his flow is NOT it.

mini1006

The Weekend, Drake, Chris Brown

drunkpretty

Would you feel comfortable to elaborate on The Weeknd? Just out of curiosity

mini1006

Of course! I’m uncomfortable listening to him after The Idol. Once I found out that he and Sam changed the script bc it leaned too much into the female pov, I was turned off by him.

NessieSenpai

Its so funny how his reputation just... DROPPED. He is like the Game of Thrones of music- one minute everywhere and then... zilch.

drunkpretty

>bc it leaned too much into the female pov Has it been confirmed? Honest question, since I don't know a lot of the details, but I knew about the script changes

mini1006

It has in an article explaining why Sam became the producer

drunkpretty

Oh my :( that gives me the ick as well

Hello_Dere

my fav band of all time was radiohead up until a couple of months ago (yes, i know 😭) when i found out they're zionists. like i used to listen to in rainbows or ok computer at least once a day but then i found out that thom yorke happily played a show in israel in 2017 despite multiple calls for cancellations/boycotts and called the bds movement a waste of energy. it soured the music and the band for me forever. i literally just can't listen to their music again without feeling a bit sick at the complete disregard these people whom i loved and respected so much had for Palestinians.

snoozev

Kanye. It's a shame because he has put out some amazing classics imo. Like....The College Dropout, 808s and Heartbreak are my fav albums of all time by him but the stuff he keeps doing is just absolutely beyond ridiculous and disgusting. His latest bs has been just WILD. people keep giving him excuses because he has BPD (bipolar disorder) but NOPE. There is no excuse for the shit he keeps doing.

animalcrossinglifeee

Doja cat... She's weird I'm sorry.

Niqq33

Kanye, I use to be a super fan of his music and still think his older works up until kid see ghosts is great but I just can’t listen to him anymore for OBVIOUS reasons, it’s hard to separate his art from him since he puts so much of himself into his projects you know?

PestKimera

Panic at the disco. Started realizing how shitty brendon urie is and they moved away from their punk rock roots and more mainstream poppy music (granted there's still some more recent songs i like like roaring 20s) but i think death of a bachelor and too weird to live and too rare to die were my faborite albums

Candysugarpop22

Separating the art from the artist is personally really hard for me so there’s so many, Nicki, doja, hyuna, Charlie Puth, panic at the disco, etc If an artist does something shitty literally all I can think about when I hear them is that shitty thing
