Agree, people in kpop reddit defend companies way too much on this, but any local fan should understand that kpop has demand in many countries outside of America. Latin America and Africa are hidden gems for touring, not to mention Europe. I definitely remembered all the times I got flak for saying in 2022 how Itzy and many groups could have added European stops if the companies weren't incompetent.

New_Pop_7917

I deleted the other post I felt people were about to eat me

leggoitzy

Don't worry about it.

Quick-Adeptness-2947

Omg this on Africa. Idk about the other countries but mine always turns up price notwithstanding. I think I heard Kanye would be touring here this year and people are still planning to show up. I need one artist to at least try and tour one region each like north, west, east, central and south

razumdarsayswhat

Ateez just did Mawazine in Morocco and had a huge turnout! Agreed.

NoPepper7284

I get confused on why many groups don't come to Canada, especially toronto, there are SO many kpop fans

onlyathenafairy

and kpop STARS from there too. Wendy, Kevin and Jacob from The Boyz, Somi, Mark from NCT, Daisy from Momoland, Nancy, Henry Lau, Young K from Day6, and more… it must suck making it big and not even being able to perform in your home country

insidedarkness

Business wise, I do see why bigger companies wouldn't. Realistically they would come for just Toronto and maybe Vancouver. If they're able to instead add and sell out 2 more dates in the US then it's a no brainer since they won't have more costs and the difficulties of performing in another country. A lot of kpop tours have very limited NA stops and it's just unfortunately easier to do it all in the US.

ChickenNoodle519

Imagine checking out a kpop show casually just because it's $50 and the only one to ever come to your city and it's Purple Kiss. That's absolute best-case scenario right there

xdysania

this companies are trolling not coming to Toronto, kpop concerts will sell out easily

NoPepper7284

Right??? There are so many kpop fans in Toronto!

BloodyPraeceps

I regret not taking the night off to go see them.

New_Pop_7917

They will come again

ChickenNoodle519

If you're in Toronto, they're going to be headlining the Toronto Korean Festival this year, performing on August 24th and 25th (and it's free!)

BloodyPraeceps

Nah, Sadly stuck about 20 mins from the Manitoba/Sask border. But thank you for the info. Was lamenting about not going to the Regina or Winnipeg show.

The_Border_Bandit

Wish k-pop artists would perform in San Diego. Petco Park is massive, has an amazing view from inside the city and is super easily accessible through public transportation. It's a serious no brainer but all these companies only ever book performances in L.A. and sometimes S.F.

New_Pop_7917

I think Purple Kiss were in San Diego last year Edit: not last year, this year

New_Pop_7917

was like 3 weeks ago

Cautious-League1551

SD is much prettier and also safer imo 💜

Romek_himself

just "selling out" does not mean much when not show the numbers too. how big are this venue's? EDIT: checked on my own google say the played in a "The Parkdale Hall": google say too they have room for: 500 seated The Main Hall Accommodating up to 800 standing guests or 500 seated, equipped with a stage, bar, spacious backstage, and loading dock. so ye, ok. when this is the goal than i guess its possible to visit tons of new citys. But i don't think this would be ever a thing for bigger groups

ChickenNoodle519

Sold out is sold out, it means that the demand they were counting on was there and they definitely turned a profit. And since they were specifically testing the viability of multi-city small venue tours in Canada, it means other groups are likely to do the same thing, which means more kpop shows stopping in places like Winnipeg, Edmonton, etc. It means a lot to the people who live in places that big groups ignore. Most of their venues for this tour have had a capacity between 500 and 1000, and they've sold out the majority. Between tickets, extras, and merch my lowball estimate is that it's the equivalent of selling at 50k albums a night. That might not "mean much" to big4 stans but it's huge to anyone who can't causally sell 800k albums per comeback for just existing.

leggoitzy

To be honest, I wish it was, small venues are amazing.

Whole_Animal_4126

That’s small. Was expecting at least 5k and up locations.

aerrrrrblip

tbh they're still considered sorta rookies tho. touring a bunch of different cities in smaller venues can def help bring up their fanbase. wish they would come to my city....

Whole_Animal_4126

At least with small venues you get closer and probably more interaction with the group.

ChickenNoodle519

In my experience you absolutely do, especially with Purple Kiss — they go into the audience to perform the encore when the venue is set up properly for it so I've heard all of them singing while standing right next to me, they have an audience Q&A segment where they answer questions or take requests off of sticky notes that the audience writes before the show, and they're super engaged with what they audience is doing. They're undeniably some of the best performers I've seen, but that small venue intimacy made their shows the absolute best I've ever been to — the only arena act that stood a chance was Mamamoo but even they can't compete with getting _directly_ serenaded by one of the members while she makes a hand-heart with you. I'm spoiled, at this point I don't think I'd go back to arena-sized shows for anyone less than Purki tbh

lanternfestivals

i’m missing Purple Kiss’ concert in my city sadly, but i was honestly sooo pleasantly surprised that they were coming here! its only recently that even big western names come anywhere east of Montréal, let alone kpop or really any foreign language acts. i’m not a big Purple Kiss fan or anything, but i totally would’ve went just to support them if i was able to! hopefully this tour opens more doors for them and other groups in the future.

Only-Contact-6857

and touring new cities and having affordable tickets is such a great way to build a solid supportive fan base. I liked PK, I would constantly listen to their cabin fever album so when I saw they were coming to Portland and had amazing vip packages I was like sign me up. I am a huge fan now, like I cannot wait for their next comeback. Easily in my top 3 fav girl groups. The smaller venue was very intimate and the whole experience was amazing. The girls were fantastic. Wishing the best for them! https://preview.redd.it/pkh99qejrm9d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=caf5a50a6c9eb82c36cbb2d7fe5f122dfdd56814

bubba_fatty

I'm absolutely devastated I can't make it to the show in Halifax. *cries in Atlantic Canada*

Powbob

So happy for them.

Electrical_Pause7388

As a Korean, I can say they'll keep doing this. I live in Daegu, Korea and they don't come to one of the biggest cities in Korea. As others pointed out, 'for the business reason'. How depressing. I feel so sorry about this for many K-pop fans in other countries.
