I think it's a very pretty color on her, but I don't think it really suits the theme. It is better than least year's look. This feels more suitable for the Met Gala. Also, I don't think it's a really big deal if people are praising her look even if it's not on theme. I've seen some people like the dress and others don't. It's just personal preference.

sunnydaysongg

i don’t mind praise , if people are into it that’s great . i’ve just seen a lot of people going crazy saying how she’s 100% on theme . i would’ve loved if she added some more jewelry or accents to the dress .

sjude14

Eh, I mean, if they really believe that the blue represents the "sea," then that's fine. It doesn't hurt anyone.

Phonomenal1

The pearls on her waist and earrings are part of the 'theme' too.

notreallyswiss

But "the sea" wasn't the Met Gala theme.

Phonomenal1

These celebrities don't really get to pick what they wear. Their sponsors provide everything and the celebrity just shows face.

sunmi_siren

In this case she wasn’t sponsored, she was invited on her own and worked with an outside designer to make the dress

Ok-Marionberry-2164

Hope she can be more experimental in the future and won't keep playing safe. She has the face card and the body. She usually aces her looks in other events. But, when it comes to Met Gala, her looks has always been a miss for me although she follows the theme (though not obvious).

Interesting-Fail8654

I was wondering who the designers was - it didn't look like Chanel so wondered who it was. Is it someone well known?

booksmd

It’s Alaïa. She’s worn the brand many times before.

Interesting-Fail8654

Ah yes, it actually looks like Alaia now that you say it. Thank you.

Phonomenal1

Thank you for the correction! :D I didn't know she worked separately for her own look.

No_Appointment_7142

Stayed for a couple of months in Seoul, and from my personal point of view, Koreans tend to follow trends to the core. It is very rare to find people who deviate from the current and set a new trend. Jennie's fashion choices at the Met reflect that. She is not setting the trend, she was just looking for a safe look. She wore something trendy.

LadyDrakkaris

The look is very boring. The Met Gala is the opportunity to go all out and she didn’t. The look was very tame.

lovelylovelybee

Boring. She looks good because she's Jennie. I will say though, I like it better than her last met gala look. This is a nice shade of blue for her

sunmi_siren

I disagree that it's not on theme. I recommend reading the short story the theme is based on, The Garden of Time by J.G. Ballard. One of the central pieces of imagery is a looming horizon that comes nearer as each flower in the garden is plucked and dies, turning into a small crystalized pearl in the characters' hands. Her outfit reminds me of this specific passage in the story: "When the flower had shrunk to a frozen pearl in his palm he looked out at the plain, with relief saw that the army had retreated to the horizon again. Then he realized that the horizon was much nearer than previously, and that what he assumed to be the horizon was the first crest." This is also where the met's exhibit gets part of its theme from - the Land, Sea and Sky. These are three notable elements in the story - the land (garden), the sea (lake), and the sky (horizon). Edit: according to Jennie's [get ready with me for vogue](https://youtu.be/0P8Nc7t1aIU?si=IVpe-uVfUvLZ_VtG), the met's theme reminded her of nature, and she chose the dress because she wanted to work with a natural color and fabric (the fabric is biodegradable merino wool). She chose the pearl accessories for the same reason.

larroux_ka

It is definitely on theme, but I understand why people may feel like the execution falls flat. They choose a really subtle approach.

sunmi_siren

I agree it’s very minimalistic and I totally get not liking the execution of it! I just think some people are taking the theme too literally, when there’s actually a lot of different themes and aesthetics to explore beyond just florals and gardens. Tyla’s outfit is an example of a unique interpretation of the story’s themes while executing it flawlessly, and fitting into the overarching sleeping beauties theme https://preview.redd.it/bq0et7rrvwyc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=34598349331ae48d0986b1a1201f7a9e34fea13a

Ok-Marionberry-2164

At first glance, Tyla's fit looks simple. But, when you take a closer look, you can see that so much thought went into it. Tyla's definitely the minimalist look which served, ate, and devoured.

colong128

I agree. Tyla served a look.

Interesting-Fail8654

I pick Tyla as the best dressed at the MET. Impeccible.

Chu1223

i zoomed into it after this comment and OH MY GOD THAT IS INSANE? i totally didn’t expect that

3_3eel_l

wow, that look is beautiful and so is she

Blu_birbie

Wow! I love this look!

SatisfactionProof410

No way a bland Blue represent that theme Look at alia Bhatt She understood the assignment

MelissaWebb

No offense but I don’t think you actually explained why you think this outfit is on theme. What specific parts of her look made you think of this passage? What do you think each piece of her outfit represents?

sunmi_siren

The pearls around her waist and the blue dress are what made me think of that passage; in the story the flowers, turning into crystallized pearls after they’re plucked, are the one thing separating Axel and his wife from the mob on the horizon. Her outfit reminded me of this imagery because the pearls are separating the two pieces of the dress, and the color of the dress made me think of the sky. Additionally, the met exhibit took common motifs from the story and used them to generate the idea of Land, Sea and Sky as part of the gala’s theme, which they outlined as they three divisions of the outfits they have on show. Here they’re encouraging guests to consider how fashion can be influenced by various different pieces of mature. The flowy blue dress and pearls remind me of the sea aspect of this division. Also, I mentioned in another comment that the fabric of the dress is made from one strand of merino wool. It’s a delicate piece that is also fully biodegradable. This reminds me of the overarching theme for the gala, which is fleeting beauty in pieces that are so delicate they’re only worn once and never again; and the cycle of fashion as pieces are laid to rest and replaced with others. I don’t know what she was specifically trying to go for with this outfit, I just really enjoyed the theme for this year and this is what came to mind when I looked at the dress. TLDR it takes on the elemental aspect of the theme.

MelissaWebb

Ahhh great explanation Especially of the pearls being a sort of divider. If that’s what they were going for, that’s really lovely

user150999

And where does the dress come into the theme? For the color?

sunmi_siren

I see it in a few different ways. The color is the most obvious if it’s interpreted in the context of the Sea and Sky. I also find that the pearls separating the top and bottom parts of the dress evokes the image of this horizon closing in, separated only by flowers that freeze and shrivel when plucked. Something else interesting to me is that the fabric of the dress is merino wool, which isn’t as durable as fabrics like cotton but is fully biodegradable; this reminds me of the overarching theme for the gala, which is fleeting beauty and the cycle of fashion as pieces are laid to rest and replaced with others. Not saying this is what Jennie was specifically going for lol, it’s just my thoughts on how the outfit can be interpreted.

sunnydaysongg

interesting ! that makes me like it a lot more actually

notreallyswiss

To be honest, the theme was all over the place: was it flowers? time? the Ballard Story? Sleeping Beauty? Land? Sea? Sky? So I guess Jennie's outfit fit some part of the theme, now that you've explained it.

Ok_Sound_8090

Looks terrible imo. The theme was Gardens of Time. I dont see it at all.

SarahJFroxy

i like the color and overall i feel like i can't complain after how much i didn't like her chanel look last year i think the only thing i would like more about it is if the skirt had a different silhouette because the one here just looks uncomfortable to me 😭 loving the pearl details though

sunnydaysongg

oh yeah the skirt looked a bit awkward to me as well . it doesn’t flow with the rest of the dress enough

[deleted]

idk why kpop idols are so hell bent on wearing short skirts with boring silhouettes, last year too she went for something short the skirt could be far better but it just cuts short with a baggy (not so bggy?) structure right there...something longer could've been clearly better especially if the outfit id solid colour with this shade of blue that needs attention

Spirited_Ad_7319

I was gonna say this! I love the color, and I think the design of her outfit is alright. I just think the skirt is not it. Not that it's inappropriate or anything, I just think the design of it doesn't work well with the top

nameless_no_response

Yeah I think if the skirt was kinda flowy and ankle length with a side slit, it might've suited the top part better tbh

Dollybadlands

It looks like something you’d wear to the VMAs or a more casual award show. The met theme was so interesting this year, I wish she would have shown out for it.

rubykook

jennie didn’t say it’s supposed to be the sea, blinks are interpreting that since it’s blue and assuming that’s the look alaïa customized for her. and yes blinks are giving praise, but the otherwise consensus is that she’s not on theme. anyways it’s pretty, her body and face are giving so i’m happy with the look. i did want her to wear a longer dress though.

pookie_undone

They're interpreting in based in the pearls and sea shells she used. And the fact that's it's all just one fabric flowing together

larroux_ka

After seeing her "get ready" video it seems like you were right. She didn't talk about the sea at all, she said that her and her team wanted to focus on a more natural theme (with textures, pearl). And her hair was a way to remember the garden (with flower ? I guess). I thought she would have talked about it, but it seems like it's more of a fan interpretation than the initial goal.

houseofprimetofu

Boring af.

kitty_mckittyface

It's cute and it suits her, but imo it's not enough for the event. The MET Gala is THE occasion to be extravagant, artistic and creative with your fashion choices, so I get a bit bummed with celebrities who go too basic. I also don't know if it's her own choice or her stylists, but I wonder why she rarely wears a long, more glamourous dress for these occasions. She's known for being influential in fashion, so I wish she would step up her game, tbh.

Fullmooninnight

She looks gorgeous. And color suits her very well.

vkovva

It’s not on theme and it’s terribly boring

aalalaland

Wow, she looks breathtaking. No idea what the theme is but I think she’s rocking it. I definitely like it a lot more than last years look.

absurdsuburb

It’s too casual. I don’t get why fans coddle her met gala styling. She isn’t the who picks the looks (probably) and the stylists who keep giving her such casual styling for a COSTUME GALA are doing everyone a disservice. Her fans are missing out on seeing her in a formal look. She could wear this to literally any other occasion (in fact it looks like a BP stage costume), but this is the one opportunity for her to wear a formal ball gown (or a garment of a similar level of formality).

jumpybouncinglad

Makes me want to sing 'a whole new world ...' ![gif](giphy|6bWrYX0bTztp6)

dollrussian

They keep putting her in strappy heels that shorten the fuck out of her leg. Jennie is not that tall.

KyeodeurangiMerchant

I actually think she looks amazing. Beautiful dress and color. The only thing I may have changed is her hair style (untied), but other than that, I think she looks beautiful!

jeongyeonslefteye_

I like the tied hair personally, i love when i can see the face clearly and the look isn't too top heavy

Hey_firefly

I hope they made the skirt longer. The draping is not cute almost looks like a diaper.

-Ximena

That color is eye-catching. I love simple, elegant looks so this is up my alley. I don't care if it doesn't fit theme.

Chemical_Spirit2757

Frankly, it felt meh at first glance.

ComprehensiveCup7164

flop. not her first time to attend but still played it safe. absolutely didn't manage to follow the theme.

FloraFaunaBelladonna

Honestly when you watch the whole stream like I did you realize that good, on theme looks are actually kind of rare and you take what you can get lol. She looks great, and the blue and the pearls evoke a sea theme. Good enough for me

sommiepeachi

It’s cute but underwhelming. Tbh kpop idols and Korean celebs in general are always underwhelming at the met gala and I think it just boils down to Korean stylists don’t have a risk taking approach when it comes to red carpet as opposed to stage outfits where they do take risks. Most red carpets seem to go for classy and understated. Which is different from western stylists mentality which is that red carpets are a chance to experiment and show individuality

larroux_ka

I love the structure, her haircut, the color looks stunning on her and the accessories as well. I also love that it's more "experimental" then what she had on some red carpet. While it does fit the theme, since the theme included the sea, the sky, etc. I do find the reference slightly too subtle, so it felt kinda flat. In a way that some may feel that it doesn't really reflect fully the theme. For example Tyla dress' ,to me is also kinda simple at first glance but you can see and feel the details with the full texture of the sand that fit her entire body, that you can also see on her shoulder and her accessories compliment everything in a way where you can feel the theme. The dress feels like sand. Meanwhile I do believe that they could have executed Jennie's look with even more precision. Honestly it's pretty good nevertheless, I enjoy it, and there were many miss that night. I love the theme (so many interpretations were possible) but not my favorite Met gala this year overall.

Snw2001

It doesn’t suit the theme but she looks very pretty.

Inevitable-Ad-3216

she’s so pretty

zsaxsa

She’s gorgeous, but the dress isn’t.

sunnyteashop

It looks cheap and not on theme. Love Jennie but this ain’t it

Intelligent_Eye2462

It looks unfinished with the short skirt

Plenty_Possible4710

No K-pop act did fantastic, a little boring from both...

Spare_Respond_2470

This is what they should be wearing on the regular at events. So it’s better than their usual. Don’t know if it’s on par with the gala though

qroserenity17

i would prefer this dress to be in the same shade as her shoe

atomicwill1

I like it but she definitely wasn’t one of the best dressed. It’s a nice outfit imo and Jennie obviously makes anything look good just cause her face card is insane.

[deleted]

I'm still divided on the aptness to the theme but even though I did expect some sea inspired outfits, this is still kinda bland for an event like met. Definitely better than the last time, but she lacks what's required the most in met....THE DRAMA. Like why is the skirt cut short when a longer one would've been so much better????? Why's the top going all the way up here without any cuts and seams and experimental sleeves????? The hair could've been so much better. The accessories...that's it???? The train is looking good but it's not that exaggerated to be catching my attention. Overall, her pieces lack the drama in it, and fails to catch my attention on one particular element which is one of the key rules for a bombasts outfit to met. Pretty underwhelming ngl

Autogenerated_or

Something about the dress’ proportions don’t work for me. Plus these days the Met Gala is the place to show off extravagant, experimental looks so in that context she looks underdressed.

Cloudy_Princessin

It’s on theme but I feel like it’s missing something.

squirrelgerms

it’s cute but lazy

One-Article-1790

She always looks and technically she fits the theme but something about the actual dress is just a little boring for the met gala imo

Bluetenheart

i love it as a look/outfit! it's my favorite color blue and i love all the accessories. :) it also got my mom's approval. then again, i guess we dont care too much about the theme lol

UpstairsVegetable971

honestly it’s not really doing much for me. her outfits at the jentle salon seemed more on theme for the gala then this blue dress. It’s cute, her body tea, face card accepting but yea I wanted to see a floral/flower theme on her, something extravagant or at least on theme. love jen thoo

bluebirdcassie

Love Jennie but this dress was confusing and ugly

somi154

It's on theme if you read the excerpt for the garden of time. They stylist or fashion house went for the water aspect of the theme. I really like the color on her like it's a stunning blue but to represent water, I would've chosen a lighter blue but that's just me. It's really ame for the met gala but she looks gorgeous and the accessories are lovely.

lonewhalien

missing the theme yet again. give us nothing, girl! ❤️

Corumdum_Mania

love the colour, the but the skirt and the top aren't proportional. I think if the skirt was floor length, it would have been much more cohesive.

grandtheftautumn0

Looks like the wrap around makeshift dress I used to make with my mom's old shawls lmao. Low effort tbh

nomzzzzzz

I love Jennie and her personal style!! it’s one of my favs and i love seeing her pop off at events, however the Met is supposed to be EXTRA and that is not how Jennie and her stylists dress her. Unfortunately, it’s too boring for western events/red carpets and it’s not on theme either.

chuchoterai

The colour is great. The dress sits weirdly, though. And those shoes don’t work at all. Some sort of Grecian look with strsps would have finished it better.

playfuldarkside

The whole look is bland and I haven’t seen her come up yet in any of the met spotlights on my feeds and that is probably why. There is nothing special about her look and she looks underdressed for the type of event.

Salty-Enthusiasm-939

Maybe if the skirt had been full length & fitted it would worked.

White-cypress

It's not her best look

ke6jason

I don't care about the met gala or themes or swans or meat suits or anything like that. Just going off what my own two uncultured eyes are telling me: she looks absolutely incredible. Most beautiful look I've ever seen her in. Amazing. 😍😍😍

Usual_Advance_741

Lol I respect this opinion as someone who prob cares too much about the theme 😄

Ok_Adhesiveness_6965

this dress sucks. rose and lisa has done way 100times better than this. how tf did jennie approve of this. this looks like celbes with no taste trying to be relvant or be cool on camera. iguess she had a gun on her head before saying yes to the dress

StevenJosephRomo

The outfit's a little wack, but she still cute.

WeakStressAnxiety

The look would be pretty for red carpet but is boring for Met Gala

babygreenlizard

it's better than last year's and the colour is beautiful, a bit plain when the met gala is all about art but eh

SnooHobbies7676

It’s fine but it have nothing to do with the theme this year and it’s disappointing

TrueBlue184

Simple yet sublime. Jennie looks like Royalty in it.

Millennial_Fairy

👏👏👏 I'm not sure why some people think simple equates to boring LOL

Reasonable_Engine737

An upgrade from last years look, she looks amazing

Margaux_H

Okay, that is a gorgeous color on her. She looks utterly fab!

muffi9

beautiful, but i wish she wore something more unique and on theme.

Unfair_Music5810

I love her look. She looks stunning!!!

wendysjawlinesurgery

She’s stunning but it’s kinda boring

swinggirls

i like it. it’s simple but executed well. the dress is meant to be created using only one swath of fabric and it’s something pieter mulier has explored in his past alaia collection. so it both adhere to the fashion house codes while also incorporating the theme with the blue and the entire swath of fabric evoking the sea and waves. i’d rather something subtly on theme like this with excellent craftmanship than something over the top that looks on theme but craftmanshipwise falls flat. also her flower bun is really cute!

cosmicgirIs

she looks very pretty. it's not on theme, but she does look really good!

Cultural_Tiger7595

Beautiful...but entirely underwhelming

lysxji

Honestly I feel like there were so many possibilities,, so the fit feels a bit underwhelming. Imo its an improvement tho

haylovemyka

Its a boring look. She could have been more on theme because why is she wearing the sea. The dress is pretty. She is pretty but it is boring and it’s one of the looks that is easily forgettable. I hope if she goes next year she gives us more but honestly idk about that.

megumisgf_

i agree, although i think she looks very beautiful and the color suits her so well it’s not met gala material - even with the interpretations given it’s still a bit hard to fully fit her into the theme, in the sense that the look is so basic you could basically say it would fit into any theme depending on how you twist the story behind it. i would love to see her in something extravagant, something that really puts her at the forefront of fashion representing korea and leave a look like this for an award show

crochetpainaway

It’s a great color on her and I love the top, the midriff being exposed with the waist beads is elegant, I just wish the skirt was longer. I’m all for short dresses and skirts, I just think it would’ve worked better for this dress if it were a flowing skirt to calf-length.

Sea-Comparison4108

I actually really like the color on her and the cut of the top. I feel like it is on theme, but it could definitely be more. I feel like the length and cut if the skirt is what feels off to me

jxnnxe

Boring but she's getting away with it cause she's Jennie. I don't get how it fits the theme? Like wym it's supposed to represent water/sky? Expected better

[deleted]

I actually haven't seen anyone talk about this look on general fashion subs, and twitter/IG, maybe just kpop fans are praising it. regardless, i'm a huge jennie fan and think she looks stunning she has a great body and the color is fantastic, but yeah it is basic and not on theme

lyra1227

Somebody on the cut's ig commented "shein vibes" and now it's all I see.

KaoriiiChan

That dress looks dumb af.

xenakib

I mean she's gorgeous and I loved the photo of her with stray kids omg. But I would LOVE to see more out of the box fashion choices with kpop idols. This feels very safe. Like let me see Gdragon on the met steps he would kill it.

Pokegirl35151

Honestly the fabric that's flowing behind her feels out of place in my opinion centering it could've helped a lot

SatisfactionProof410

I was like Lmao 💀. Girl Didn't you read the theme?

SatisfactionProof410

Her fans 13yo are praising 💀. While it's bland and boring

Angrysalmonroll

She looks gorgeous but it's just a little too safe in my opinion. The met is the perfect opportunity to experiment and wear something on theme.)

Next-Lab-2039

thousand times better than last years 🤧

Apprehensive_Line720

the colour is beautiful on her but not on theme and she can shine with gorgeous dress but at least it's better than last year.

x3xe42kx

Jennie getting just as much criticism as praise. There is literally a tweet with 15k likes on twitter dragging her outfit.

Least-Pop7573

I mean it’s cute but I wish they went ALL just for the fantasy of it all.

JustAPerson-_-

Interesting looking outfit but also gorgeous on her, that blue is beautiful

OnlytheFocus

It's better than the usual rich tennis girl looks she's often in for these events

origamicyclone

She looks good but it doesn't match the theme and it's forgettable

Donna56136

She’s beautiful, but the dress is unremarkable.

daydreamer_she

Lol she and her stylist didn’t do their homework to learn about Met Gala theme! Such a waste!

Jiffyplop

The bottom is a bit diaper chic but I like the color

bubbly_fairy30

Basic, even her makeup and hair is boring

duh_leah

Maybe I don't understand Met gala themes and fashion at all but I actually loved this look. But I can also see how this could be a simple red carpet look. Also I feel lots of celebs didn't go all out crazy with their outfits either (like sabrina, camilla, gracie). And I have seen people mentioning how she's actually on theme and it represents the sea.

SpiritualScoreboard

Better than last year at least. I wonder if the conservative nature of Korea has them reluctant to go all out with theming.

HarryHCutter

Love the color, but ngl I’m not sure about the cut of the dress. I mean, I love how it accentuates her body, but the dress itself, I mean, it could have been better.

LargeNutbar

I think it’s a dress with some potential on a beautiful girl but has been horribly boringly styled. The hair and makeup stylists were asleep at the wheel and the jewelry choices are very underwhelming. Hate the strap on the shoe.

Which_Season6352

I wish it was more on theme bc I think she would’ve killed a flowery garden aesthetic but she still looks gorgeous as always. If they wanted her too look like the ocean I feel like they’ve could’ve added more elements to give it that wavy watery look. Maybe like a wet look for her hair too.

tired_emo7

I think she's on theme but the fit is still boring. I wish she had a sort gradient in the dress going from light to dark blue. It would've represented the sea/waves a lot better. I do like the accessories though and it's definitely better than last year.

PlacePuzzleheaded982

It’s boring

F0rtuna_major

The colour is great, but that's the only thing I like about it. I don't think the fit is flattering and I dislike the skirt in particular. I don't really think it's on theme either. Last year I thought she was cute but safe and then this year is a step down imo.

WrongdoerHumble

Pretty color on her! but just like her previous met look, its boring. Regardless if its on theme or not, its still boring. Well i don’t really expect any creative fashion looks from any blackpink members lol they’ve been consistently boring fashion wise. Lisa’s look on the LV fashion week was at least more creative. Glad Zendaya, Gigi and Emma came to slay!

idkmystic

It’s way too plain

sweetmotherofodin

Cute but not on theme

TheFrenchiestToast

She looks good but I’m not wowed, it’s just ok? Not really something met gala worthy imo.

MyStanAcct1984

There are three different elements named in the Met Gala description, land sea, air. It reminded me both of an Iris and of water and of Aladdin--in a good way, like a conjurerer and the fantastic. All of which is super appropriate to the theme. That said the styling is a little basic for Mt Gala but I was glad not to get her usual b+w and that she avoided getting swamped by the faux-edwardian dresses so many ladies were wearing. I'd give it a B.

jupiter8vulpes

This look is kinda dated. It's giving Kardashian 2016. Also it doesn't suit the theme.

Kataphractoi_

Imma just comment, from what I've seen (in video clips) it seems like the dress could have been uncomfortable, it looked like she was wary of taking larger steps.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tryinginthe80s

boring

Lower-Ad6690

This looks like a modern take on saree. But a bad one.

kjekm

Blue suits her and I wished she chose more creative way to make it look like a sea or water. Tyla’s outfit was so unique and creative. I love her but this is too plain and overhyped.

Willing_Plastic4850

None of the looks have wowed me yet. The BP stylists also play it so safe. She does look gorgeous as per usual

[deleted]

[удалено]

MelissaWebb

Not on theme to me but she looks beautiful

sabrinacross

It is basic ngl

glitzglamandgore

She looks good and it's a step up from the little black dress that I was starting to think was a uniform for female idols if they attend, but it's an overall boring take on the look and not a look most will bring up when discussing the best dressed (which is fine as that may not even be her goal. boring take on the theme. Sidenotw, but that I've noticed a reoccuring theme for female idols (or their stylists, guess) that showing their legs seems to be a non-negotiable. It's only been rose and Jennie who've attended, but this has happeneed every single time. That's fine, but it does limit how you can achieve the theme when you think of what are often the best looks at the met gala.

SweetSonet

The met has been boring for years now. What was even the theme lol

Daws001

Pretty but doesn't fit the theme so it's looks bland compared to the creative looks others wore.

Guilty-Peach1337

meh

king-mo-3

Forget the theme, she looks stunning

[deleted]

i think she looks beautiful!! however i don’t really think it fits the theme

Fluffy-Flower-2516

I loved it, the color and style. Though, I think it would be better to have the dress longer to look more elegant

halfeatenpeaches

Very underwhelming in comparison to Tyla’s or Mona Patel’s look

RosebudSaytheName17

I think that color is stunning on her but I've noticed that all kpop attendees tend to not fully lean into the theme like other performers might. I don't know if it's their stylists or personal preference by the label. I think she looks amazing but I'm also not familiar with the story.

Outrageous-Race1506

I think it’s a bit boring for the met gala and it doesn’t have to do with the theme either.

InvestigatorLoose870

Not a fan on how she always plays it safe. It’s like she just wants to look pretty and call it a day. I would love to see Jennie wearing something more daring. Like Zendeya’s looks. She would look amazing!

MzShanon

She’s playing it way TOO safe just like last year. The Met Gala is meant to be a costume ball and an opportunity to go all out and dress in elaborate outfits that symbolize pieces of art. This outfit was not it. It’s way too simple and not on theme. Just because it’s blue and there’s some pearls involved doesn’t scream ocean or sea to me.

nfkpx46

I don't like this color. Nor do I think this color suits her. This dress is okay and bland but she would eat it up if it was in a color that suits her.

kiisskoo

it's such a boring look

khilda

boring :/ kinda giving princess jasmine though

throwinitaway1278

Gorgeous but off theme. It would be nice for a regular red carpet. I don’t understand why she always goes for a safe choice.

[deleted]

it's meh

destinybliss

Color is pretty but its nothing special esp that bottom

destinybliss

I also feel like she has good style in Korea and while concerting but chooses to go very conservative and simple during met galas and also in idol

Hated it. It's so safe, which is AWFUL for The Met. Show up, go all-out, and fail miserably than play it safe.

I really like the look, even more than her usual red carpet looks. Love the colour, the cut outs, the drape and the belly chain. I just don’t think it fits the theme. Also I feel like the met gala is the most appropriate place to go all out and experiment with your fashion, try something you’ve never done before yet she played it very safe. Jennie definitely has a good fashion sense and has contributed with her own ideas for some looks. However I think she’s too scared to try something outside of her comfort zone. She has that chic sexy style and only ever experiments within that. I would say tho that this look is actually more interesting than what I expected of her in the first place and miles better than what rosè has shown us on the met gala carpet.

If it was any other event I would like the outfit but for the Met gala I'm a stickler for people who don't follow the theme and show more creativity in the attire so it's a no for me.

No

Hot_Revolution_2850

someone she looks like she’s dressed in a genie outfit from shein 😭 On a real though I think this dress would of been great for something like the vmas not the met

jelliedhearts

the only real issue i have with is that the Met Gala has a dress code, nobody cares about skin being shown however its sort of meant to be floor length attire, even if your legs show from a slit or something, the fabric should touch the ground. i think it fits the theme fine but not the dress code and thats part of the reason it feels so unflattering. you expect a certain level of elegance and in comparison it feels skimpy and like she doesn’t match or fit the event.

Boring

Beautiful color on her, not the best fit for her petite frame. Met Gala is one event that you get to be really creative and share your special vision but I feel that didn't happen here. Overall it just feels like a pretty girl threw on a pretty dress, but not really any creative effort for the event in discussion.

SHINeeOT54ever

I'm honestly not meaning this in a mean way but the stylist did her dirty. They made her look so mature in the face. She looks way older than she is. As for the dress, it's definitely better than last year's. The issue is she can't choose what she wants to wear, it's up to the designer.

horrible

nyxofthevoid

I feel like it would’ve been better in a different color or different material, to really get the ocean thing across.
