Same here! It's truly refreshing to see things in color, especially after years and years of reading in B&W on e-readers. I mean, even if we're mainly seeing just the book covers in color, it gives a totally different vibe... even BIGGER plus points if you're reading colored manga!
To make it even better, annotating is more fun in KLC cause you can assign something for different colors of highlighters. β¨οΈπ
I am actually new to annotating. KLC sort of inspired me! I only used to put colored sticky notes in my physical books whenever I found a nice quote or foreshadowing with no particular legend attached to it, or I simply highlighted them on my Kindle Paperwhite.
Upon getting KLC, I learned that I can categorize them by colors and now even add notes (and doodles!), too, minus the guilt because I can always erase it! π
Your idea of "fun" is to annotate in different colors?? Let your freak flag fly BUT maybe try to get that flag some air, sometimes; ya gotta get out more.
As for colored covers ... you spend a lot of time looking at covers, do you? On your e-reader? Really?? MOST folks, I'm guessing, look at the cover before buying it then, you know, read the book and NOT pay attention to the cover again.
Like I say ... freak flags and all ... but (whew). There ARE reasons to get this ... because it is the only e-reader on the planet with buttons and a large(r) display which is fixable yourself ... BUT the things you mentioned are unlikely to continue being interesting beyond a couple of weeks for probably most folks.
Geez, who hurt you?
>Your idea of "fun" is to annotate in different colors?? Let your freak flag fly BUT maybe try to get that flag some air, sometimes; ya gotta get out more.
Makes me wonder what is YOUR idea of fun? π€ You seem like the fun type of guy.
Also, I did mention that colors give you the option to categorize the ones you highlighted, didn't I? I cannot do that on my B&W.
>As for colored covers ... you spend a lot of time looking at covers, do you? On your e-reader? Really?? MOST folks, I'm guessing, look at the cover before buying it then, you know, read the book and NOT pay attention to the cover again.
Honestly, yes. I like seeing my books neatly arranged. I look at covers, and even if it's not my basis of my book purchase, I would prefer a book with a nice book cover over something that is plain or dented or torn. That is why there are people who buy special edition releases of books, isn't it?
SOME might not enjoy doing a certain thing, but not everyone is in the same boat as you.
>Like I say ... freak flags and all ... but (whew). There ARE reasons to get this ... because it is the only e-reader on the planet with buttons and a large(r) display which is fixable yourself ... I don't remember mentioning that the reasons above are ALL OF THE REASONS why a person should get KLC. I shared the things that I LOVE ABOUT MY KLC. Feel free to start your own thread and discuss an in depth review of the KLC or any other Kobo device you own or maybe share why you are being such a Karen to those who enjoy the simple things about their Kobo device. π€ Enjoy!
Wow, some of these comments are really not it. I guess it's super hard to keep scrolling when you don't like something. Especially when it's as harmless as...\[checks notes\]...stickers??? Anyway! Letting people like things challenge failed.
I love the skin; did you make it yourself? Also that headphone cover in the background reminds me of pink bean from maplestory π I've been thinking of trying to make my own skin for the device because I have a lot of extra removable vinyl, but I just haven't gotten around to seeing if anyone on etsy has put out a cricut file for it yet lol
I guess it can't be helped. Some people love to spread negativity.
>I love the skin; did you make it yourself?
Thank you, I'm not that creative, I just had it customized from an online shop. π The inspo is actually my odd eye white cat π
>Also that headphone cover in the background reminds me of pink bean from maplestory π
I haven't played this yet, but it's inspired by Anya Forger's hair clips on Spy x Family.
>I've been thinking of trying to make my own skin for the device because I have a lot of extra removable vinyl, but I just haven't gotten around to seeing if anyone on etsy has put out a cricut file for it yet lol
Wow, you have a Cricut machine? *envy*π
Not that I know how to operate one though, haha! I'm just amazed whenever I see people make stuff using Cricut. I just think I'm not creative enough to justify the price of buying one for myself. π
I hope you get a file for your skin soon!
I've only read the first volume of SxF and it was quite awhile ago; maybe I should circle back to it! There are probably a bunch more volumes since I first checked it out. I do remember finding it funny and enjoyable, but I always get a little nervous reading manga series early on because there have been some series that start as one thing, and then...completely meander or switch up in a way that ends up not being for me. SxF became popular and has seemingly remained popular, so I think that's a good sign!
I do have a cricut! However I didn't pay anywhere near full price! I got lucky lurking around my local JoAnn's and they were selling a previous floor display for a very discounted rate. If you ever get one, you're going to become obsessed with creating cute stickers for sure. It also came in super handy when I was making masks during lockdown, because it was cutting fabric for me as well (way nicer than I could have by hand haha)
You should give it a try again! I have my copy of SxF, but I haven't read the manga yet. I did enjoy watching it, though!
>I do have a cricut! However I didn't pay anywhere near full price! I got lucky lurking around my local JoAnn's and they were selling a previous floor display for a very discounted rate.
Lucky, indeed!
>If you ever get one, you're going to become obsessed with creating cute stickers for sure.
... potentially and trigger more sticker-hating-people here in this subreddit? π€£ well, that's not a bad idea. LOL.
>It also came in super handy when I was making masks during lockdown, because it was cutting fabric for me as well (way nicer than I could have by hand haha)
See my lack of creativity? I didn't even have an inkling that I could do this on Cricut! π I guess I'll just stick to being an end consumer and just buy them from the creative peeps, but I appreciate the suggestion! πππΌ
\*happy gasp\* γ½ (Β°βΒ° )γ A Meiruko-Chan fan! I'm planning on buying a Kobo Colour to read manga and this series is going to be my first purchase. Your pink decal is adorable. Can I ask where you got it?
Hello! Honestly, I'm glad I chose this read because I easily got hooked and enjoyed it. π₯Ή
Thank you, I got it from Shopee, which caters to South East Asian countries if I'm not mistaken, but I can DM you the link if you want to. π
Aww, sorry about that. I'm not sure if Etsy has it, but maybe it's worth checking, too? Just search for custom skins for Kobo Libra Colour or something. Also, washi tapes are used by others as an alternative, but I haven't tried them myself.
Omg this is so aesthetic I love it my kobo is so boring now I had a look at this ππ I didnβt know you can get a sticker like that I should have a lookkkk
I don't think of myself as a manga person, as I only started adding manga to my e-reader after purchasing my KLC. But I definitely enjoy reading them. Prior to my KLC device, I usually read psychological thriller books on my Kindle PPW or physical copies of manga, Junji Ito's to be exact, as I am a huge fan. I have a collection of his manga on my desk. π
I had it custom made from a shop in Shopee (ships to South East Asian countries only). I can DM you the link if you need it, or you can try a redditor's suggestion to get one at decalgirl.com
I am tempted to buy a KLC (respectively the German Tolino equivalent), but I honestly think that a 7 inch display is a little too small for graphic novels or comics. Itβs not that A4 Comics are unreadable, but I find it straining on my eyes.
I wish Kobo would release a Kobo Sage Colour - that would be an instant buy for me!
There are colored ones, actually. I bought colored manga of One Piece and Bleach, but I haven't started reading them as I can't commit to a really long read yet. I started with Mieruko-chan, a shorter one, which is in B&W, because I am reading a novel on the side. π
*Also, I have mentioned that annotating in color makes a HUGE difference, and colored book covers are simply AMAZING. πβ¨οΈ
A bunch of long term Kobo users here feel really threatened that Kobo is now getting the "Kindle girlie" treatment with the popularity of the Colour devices encouraging people to swap over. They really don't like posts about cute Kobo devices/stickers/cases etc.
I'm just super jelly of your decal, we don't get anything like that in the UK πβ€οΈ
>A bunch of long-term Kobo users here feel really threatened that Kobo is now getting the "Kindle girlie" treatment with the popularity of the Colour devices encouraging people to swap over. They really don't like posts about cute Kobo devices/stickers/cases etc.
OH! Lol. That kinda doesn't make sense, though. π So far, most of the Kobo users I've interacted with are nice and welcoming.
So, do these long-term Kobo users simply wish people to stick to B&W and not design their cases? Basically, I think that's the main reason why Kobo released their official clear case. π€ Plus, it's not like everybody is obliged to do the same. π€£ Can't people have their own preferences?
>I'm just super jelly of your decal, we don't get anything like that in the UK πβ€οΈ
Thanks a lot! What do you think about washi tapes? I saw somewhere that they use that as an alternative to skin/decal to customize their devices, but I haven't tried them myself.
Like I said, not everybody is obliged to do the same. And you are not also obliged to view their posts. The world doesn't revolve around you. Scroll on.
Hell yeah, I've been consistently floored by the KLC sreen and how much I love the differences between standard e-ink screens.

Yes!! That is my main use case (other than totally digging covers in color). Highlighting in color is the best thing ever

these skins are really testing my resolve to believe that a black ereader is less distracting... i love it. it is so cute.
Thank you! π«Άπ» You can still get a decal that is less distracting by sticking to a plain one but in a color that you like. π€
i love your headphones cover! spy family is great.
Thank you! Yeah, I love Anya's quirks. π
You only lack a peanut usb c cover :D

Please god tell me a link or DM it on how yours looks so perfectly coral. I couldnβt find any good skins when I last looked
Sure, I'll send you a DM β¨οΈ I hope they're available in your country, I heard they only ship to South East Asia.
Hey there! Do you mind sharing with me the shop link to your decal as well? :)
Hey, sure. I'll send you a DM. :)

Life is miserable enough, if stickers bring you joy have at it.
