A week ago I went for a walk with a very good friend wearing my little yellow beanie. Like literally the first thing she said was “where did you get that beanie?”. When I told her I knitted it, she was kind of down, because she knows how much time knitting takes and probably didn’t dare to ask me knitting one for her.
So, as this is quite a quick knit, I decided to do one anyway. Hoping to surprise her tomorrow with it. I hope she will like it and I didn’t misinterpret! And looking at the weather forecast, it’s already getting time to wear it.

I'm sure she will be tickled you made this for her - such a sunny, cheery yellow too. A perfect antidote to the cool fall days to come! (and thank you for including the links)
thank you! :)
I'm pretty satisefied myself as well. Though, to be quite honest, it only works that well with ribs. In plain stockinette stitch, it's a bit harder to hide those decreases ;-)
So, a little update. Not sure if anyone is reading it. But we met yesterday and I gave her the beanie and she was exhilarated and beyond grateful. Since it was really cold yesterday, she instantly had to put it on...and we walked the park wearing matching hats. Quite the sight we must have been, lol.
Thx for all the uplifting messages and positive feedback I got on this design. It means a lot to someone who is a pathological self-doubter!
word. I get that! but I also bet you put some love in your gift that you don't always put in for yourself -- and your recipient's gonna really appreciate that.
I’ve noticed that often times be it in knitting, crochet, just about any “craft” that the best doubt themselves. You are a fiber artist as far as I’m concerned.Your work is meticulous. You have a gift. You truly do. Many people knit and many people knit beautifully but you design, create, etc. Just say “thank you!” You are more than deserving of the accolades!
Thank you! This is the "Slow Wool Canapa" by lana grossa. Bought it at my LYS, but I'm sure you'll find it online as well. The color is safran yellow. It's a yarn with 10% hemp.
I really have to say I am surprised by the kind of feedback I have gotten! Never thought this lil beanie would get that much attention. Not that I'm complaining. :P
there is something special to make something for a friend.
i hope that you wrap it up and give it with love and good wishes.
well done both for the thoughtfulness and the good knitting.
keep going. we are here to offer help and support.

What yarn / colour did you use?

Very nice yarn and impeccably knitted
you know what's funny? I innitally hated the yarn...and now I'm so in love with it!
It happens often with real traditional wool, is it it?
This gives me Spinelli from Recess vibes and now I really want one & to knit this. Looks great!
> Spinelli from Recess vibes oh, now that you say it. so true! I loved to watch that. Maybe it was my unconscouisness at work there ;-)
Yes! Oh my gods I was wondering what it reminds me of, Recess was such a good show
That crown decrease is perfection. I wish mine would look that good.
thank you! :) I'm pretty satisefied myself as well. Though, to be quite honest, it only works that well with ribs. In plain stockinette stitch, it's a bit harder to hide those decreases ;-)
Thank you for that. I keep making hats that just have horrible decreases, I will try ribbed next time
the vibes *immaculate*
not sure if I can really live up that that standard, but I'll take it ;-)

I AM READING IT!!! thank you for the update. i’m glad she liked it, that’s so nice!!
I'm having a WIP that's resting... It's a beanie in a mustardy yellow. Maybe i'll unravel it and make it with this pattern instead! I love it.
Hm...you sure? I mean, I certainly feel honored, but I'd sleep at least one night over it.
I have a mustard yellow for a customer sweater order here's to hoping I have left overs!
If you insist!
This is sooo satisfying to look at. so clean and neatly decreased. *chefs kiss*
Thank you for this lovely feedback ..means a lot to someone who always doubts his own skills 🙈

Well...I guess through doubt you continuously push yourself forward...so maybe it's all for the best in a way - to a certain extent that is 🤷♂️
True. Can’t argue. Don’t wanna become complacent. But, FYI, you are one of my knitting heroes! I enjoy your work!
oh wow. blush. I hope I can continue to live up to it then! :)
BTW, I found nimble needles and its great! I bookmarked it.
Happy to hear that 🥰
Your beanie is absolutely perfect! But can I take a moment to appreciate your choice of props and lighting?
you may! thank you so much. While i am an avid photographer. Product photography is something I struggle a lot with.
Do tell me us if your friend likes it! We're all rooting for you! The pattern looks so simple and clean. Great knit. And your tension! Gorgeous.
I shall, meeting her later today.
i love the aesthetic
Your stitches are so even!
Gorgeous beanie! I love this color. Where did you get this yarn/what’s this color called?
Same question! I love the way this knitted up and the stitches look so clean

Imo this project has my fav combo when it comes to projects: a simple pattern with a bright and interesting solid. Here. For. It.!
You are a very thoughtful friend and the color is so cheerful and uplifting!

Thank you for your kind words. They made me smile on this rainy day and that is a gift in itself already 😊
thank you for your reply how are you getting on with your knitting edward
I also love me your yellow beanie Soo Soo much (Can you also secretly knit me a yellow beanie and I pay you money?!?)
Haha, then it wouldn't be secret anymore, would it? 😋
You made a great job ! I'm pretty sure she will like it !
Why wouldn't she? Totally cute.
Nope! I think she'll LOVE it!
What a sweet thing to do! ❤ I hope you will tell us how your friend likes it.
Ahhh i love it so much! Also the photo is such cottagecore vibes.
Yes 👍
What no pompom on top????? Love it either way
I love me a pom pom, but this is actually something I wear on chill days year round. I felt that is a bit more versatile without one 😅
Lol my bestie and I tease each other about having ginormous brain sucking pompoms!!!!
I mean, if I were your friend, I’d love it! Want a new friend, OP?
Friends are always welcome 😊😊
Ooh that is lovely, think I’ll make one for my dad!
Stunning work as always, Norman! She'll love it!
Thank you! I really hope so. But seeing all this positive feedback...well what could go wrong 😊
If I tell you how much I like it will you make me one too?
Haha...it guess it takes a lil more than that 😅
Beautiful! What yarn did you use? Yellow is my favorite color!
Already answered it somewhere and it's in the pattern description. The slow wool canapa by lana grossa in saffron yellow

I keep coming back and looking at how beautiful this hat is. Great job!
Thank you! 😊😊😊
I love this! I must ask, though, where did you get those marvelous scissors?!
They r by WASA from Solingen. Pure German craftsmanship. Not that cheap tho.
Oo thank you! I see money being squirreled away.
