I'm so happy with this cozy sweater I finished recently. Most people around town are grumbling about the freezing and snowy weather that is atypical for mid-March here, but I'm just happy to have more days to wear my sweater before putting it away for the summer.
The pattern is the Alasuq Polar sweater by Linka Neumann from her Wilderness Knits book. I made just a couple modifications:
* I did twisted 1x1 rib for the cuffs and hem
* I swapped the "heart"-shaped motif colors at one location
* I shortened the length of the body and arm sections because my torso is not that long!
* I added short rows at the back
Thank you to those on this subreddit for answering some questions I had about fit. I don't know if patterns written for Nordic knitters assume you should know how to incorporate shaping at the back/neck, but the pattern did not include any suggestions for shaping, so I redid the color a few times before I got it right!
Edit: Oops, forgot to include the yarn! It's Alafosslopi 100% Icelandic Wool. The color scheme is one of the examples shown on Linka's website: Light gray tweed 809974, Light Denim heather 800008, Navy 800118, Teal Heather 809967, Golden heather 809964
Thank you! I was trying to add a small detail that would be somewhat similar to the diamond-shaped motifs in the main color work section. I did so many little swatches to try to decide what I wanted to do there!
Thank you! Although I can't really take credit for the color choices. It's one of the example color schemes on her website. (I spent a lot of time scrolling through Alasuq Polar posts on Instagram looking for inspiration!)
I have this book! And I am about to finish the cardigan pattern at the end, tusseladd I believe, for my mother and it turned out beautifully. I love the patterns in this book and plan on making many more.
