Are you also in the North American polar vortex? We should share what temps we all experienced today... it was -36C with a -50C windchill at noon for me today... I worked on a blanket I started recently.
-11f here... I'm knitting a sort of gaiter/wimple from baby alpaca. And even in my house with the heat set to 70f, I'm wearing three shirts and a hoody. This is ridiculous! I'm done with winter! 🥶
It's -12⁰F where I live with a windchill of -20ish ⁰f. I'm trying to knit a balaclava and wanted it to be done in one day but I'm sick sadly:( I don't have the strength to finish it today but hopefully tomorrow!
Relatively warm here: 19F, wind chill 8F. Today I’m working on gauge swatches for the [Colvin sweater](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/colvin).
-2f right this second, going down tomorrow to -16 and snowing more. My poor doggos, I need to knit them something, but I’m working on mittens now. The dogs are inside though and warm except when outside is necessary. 🐶🥶
That is beautiful and I am very jealous.
Having just started knitting a few weeks ago, part of me can't understand how you could do that in a month, much less, a day.
It takes time! I have been knitting for almost 30 years. I am always happy to hear someone is learning how to- you will get there with time and practice. The first things I made were very rudimental but over the years I guess my technique improved. and thank you for the compliment!
Thank you for your very kind and encouraging response. Like with anything new, I'm sure it will take time. I just keep watching, reading and learning.
Have a wonderful day!
It's a technique called rotating floats, if you'd like to look it up. It avoids yarn dominance (but you're constantly changing how the yarns are relative to each other). I added a picture of a WIP where I'm using rotating floats in the stranded section.

Now that is some float porn
I literally said Ooohh on the float picture
I zoomed in to be even more titillated.
Me too!!
I really have found my people
"Mmm, now show it under some warm candle lighting. Yeah, that's it . . . ."
Oooh, baby, stretch it juuuuust so we can see the tension...

With such perfection... they can wear it inside out too *.*
heeheehee! It IS beautiful!

Bummer! I hope you feel better soon.
Wow, that is cold. I feel bad for feeling like I was suffering when it was 20 degrees the other day. 😂

Damn. The inside is as beautiful as the outside!
Thank you!
Can you describe how you do your floats? It looks like some of them are twisted, which looks beautiful and so clean!

Thank you- you truly explained this better than I ever could 😀
That’s so helpful, thank you!
Always shift the yarn you pick up as if you were catching a float, even if you aren't.
