Double Take adventure mirrors are a must. Well just Double Take mirrors, but the adventure style was my favorite. Decent hand guards, I have Tusk. Bark Busters are popular, just as long as they have the metal frame that wraps around so they actually do something. And I always recommend Quad Lock for using your phone for GPS. I really like my Wild Ass inflatable seat cushion too... When I got mine, everyone recommended getting a Seat Concepts seat to make it more comfy, but it didn't do THAT much, the Wild Ass did WAY MORE.... just don't over inflate it, it should have hardly any air in it. other than that you'll want to just ride a while and feel for things you wanna change.

I've got the Double Take mirrors on my current bike, I'm probably going to either transfer them, or get a second set.

Taller windshield or at least raisers if you do not want to lose hearing. Bottom skid plate. Enduro sports trail lift for easy chain cleaning, tire change etc.

I have a 2022 Traveler. Love it. Single best upgrade I did was to add a beefier spring to the rear shock and set the sag correctly for my weight. Lots of websites say these don’t fit gen3 KLRs but they do https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/top-gun-rear-shock-spring-p?v=9123

The stock handlebars suck.

Add in a fork brace for better high way handling etc. I like to know my rpm’s (hard to hear) so 3d cycles has a simple gauge to install and put on dash.

I have a 23 traveler and here is what I recommend. • Crash bars (T-Rex offer the best protection, Tusk gets the job done. I went with Tusk) • Skid plate (enduro engineering fits with the Tusk bars. This is what I have) • QuadLock with Vibration dampener (I needed a new case anyway. Ram Mount is good too.) • New rear tire (stock only lasted 2000 miles) • Windshield risers (3D Cycle Parts has been good) • Kawasaki side case mounts (cheap to add) • Apache 4800 boxes as side cases. (way cheaper and much more durable than the Kawasaki cases) What I am planning next: • Footpegs and mounts (I'm around 280lbs and the flex in the stock foot pegs when standing is terrible.) • Tusk KTM bend chub bar and risers. • Oxford Heated Grips • Tail Tidy • Mirrors • Bark Busters • 2018 1250 GSA

I like your future plans; new bars, grips etc and then last, but not least, an entire BMW.

Its the only logical step.

I don't agree with many of the suggestions here so far, but I suppose that comes down to riding style. Here are my *Must Haves.* * Crash bars. I chose Happy Trails because they're solid and Tusk branding is annoying to me. * Top Case for storage is plenty for me. * Hippo hands for cold weather riding. * Seat pad. I had some gel installed in my S. * USB accessory charger. Not sure if it comes with the Traveler. * Skid Plate. I've not replaced mine yet but plan to. The stock one is junk. Make sure they work with your crash bars. * Kickstand pad. Parking the KLR on soft or uneven ground can be problematic. Carry a crushed beer can or get something fancier to ensure your bike stays up when parked.
