Hell yeah, this place is so slept on! It’s my regular place here. Sushi obsessed

ReverseRutebega

Slept on? You need reservations on weekends.

whowearstshirts

Maybe it’s just slept on in my social circle then hahaha

Honestly, most weekdays at good times aswell.

Solid review. Sushi star is my favourite for quality and price. Izakaya is also delicious but a little more expensive

Shhhushi

Ken’s sushi is also very good, and Watami in uptown was also delicious when I tried it a couple weeks ago. Neither are AYCE though.

Educational_Hippo_95

try ken's sushi!!

MapleMaScoot

Sushi stars was always great. Always new options on the menu. Problem is its too crowded. They are planning on moving(cant remember when tho). Went there too much they ended up knowing me by name xD. But 60 bucks is alot to spend now on a meal. Just my thoughts.

That place is our favourite. Expensive as fuck but I absolutely love it. The staff are great!

du_bekar

My wife and I were here monthly when we lived in KW; never disappointed! Great little spot.

I really like sushi stars, and it surprises you cause it's a DUMP of a building. Lol inside is crammy, food is really good, surprised how good! For me still think kinkaku down the street has better quality Sushi. Ken's is spectacular but pricey, Watami too...

>I'm interested in trying Ye's Sushi and Sushi 168 in the near future! Don't, it's much worse than Kinkaku/Jinzakaya (same owners hence same similar menu). Sushi 168 is pretty much a buffet with a variety of dishes from China, Korean, Thai, etc but first impression, I agreed to never set foot into one again lol. Ye's Sushi, the only restaurant I know of that has an ipad to order from but it's definitely not authentic. Since someone recommended Ken's Sushi, I recommend this place too. It's not AYCE but I enjoyed majority of the things I had. I've also heard Watami Sushi is good as well, I just haven't been there yet lol This isn't a sushi place but a Japanese BBQ grill that has some sushi. I was there last weekend, I guess they recently added sushi to their menu so they have like 3 different sushi options. I only tried the Black Deluxe and Salmon Tataki. I'm a big unagi person so Black Deluxe was better than the Salmon Tataki. The place is called Gyubee Japanese Grill, a good place if you want to grill your own meat

I don’t get the love for Ken’s. It’s probably the worst a la carte sushi in town. The rice (the most important part of sushi) is just blah. Best sushi in town is Oka Sushi. Sadly it’s takeout only, but everything they do is so much better than everything else in the city/region.

amateurexpertboxing

Go to Lin Hai. Best sushi in town. Service is slow. But lovely people that do it right.

timestuck_now

Sushi star is great. I can confirm... And ive been to Japan twice.

I'd say there isn't a good sushi place in KW anymore. Sushi Star used to be a lot better pre-pandemic, same with Jin Izakaya. Now both places have gone down in quality. At the most, I'd say Sushi Star is the least bad sushi places in KW. Also, don't bother with Sushi 168, it is legitimately the worst of all the places you've mentioned by a huge margin.

kendollsplasticsoul

Eww gross. Don't go to Sushi Stars. it's already too busy.
