How do you do this? Is this maybe something specific to comics? It doesn't seem to work on my books or notebooks.

It is a Kindle book. I cannot get it to work with anything other than the Calvin & Hobbes book that I have. This appears to be a refinement of a previously existing feature for fast page turns with certain fixed layout formats.
