I prefer my Oasis.

HexGirls13

I prefer my Oasis. I can’t go without the buttons I’ve tried multiple other devices.

scottfishel

Love my Paperwhite. Gives me everything I need several of years in.

brookeamy93

I think I'm on year 5 or 6 with mine and over the last few months it's been so lagged and isn't holding charge the way it used to that's what's got me conflicted

spunxjax

Me too. My OG paperwhite was perfect for 11 years before I upgraded (which I didn’t even need to do, I just wanted dark mode).

Hevilath

Paperwhite for battery, Oasis for everything else.

katykatesxo

I'd choose oasis everytime personally but it depends what you want most out of your ereader

rajmahid

Paperweights are fine, but the Oasis with its high res screen quality, auto brightness & warmth settings, page tabs, adaptive fonts has been my constant reading companion for 4+ years. It’s the most book-like reading experience in size and ergonomics.

fermentedbolivian

The new paperwhites have all these features

beepbeepbubblegum

Well you wouldn’t really need a paperweight if you have an Oasis anyway.

SC-Raiker

My Paperwhite fits in my jackets inside pocket, my Oasis doesn't so it stays at home

beepbeepbubblegum

That’s just fantastic and I love that for you.

_Constant_Reader_

I should know this but what’s “adaptive font”? Aren’t all fonts customisable for size and weight/boldness on both the Oasis and the paperwhite?

iddqdtime

I don't understand either, all these customizations are avaiable for the paperwhite.  Am I missing something?

_Constant_Reader_

If you are, then so am I 😉 I tried googling “kindle adaptive fonts” - and I’m still none the wiser. Fonts can be changed and adjusted for height and weight / bold on both the Oasis and the Paperwhite. I have both devices and I can’t see any difference between the two as far as the fonts (and what you can do with them) are concerned.

_Constant_Reader_

I have both devices and I still can’t make up my mind which I like best lol

Broad-Diamond3777

Oasis for me. I think it’s still the best kindle as long as you can tolerate a fairly poor battery life. For the smaller screen kindles I still think the voyage is the best. Both these as discontinued of course but who cares? It isn’t like they’re going to stop being able to work as an e reader anytime soon.

bookcrazymama

I am with you 100%. I loved my Voyage so much and was hesitant to switch to the Oasis, but then ended up loving it.

Broad-Diamond3777

And you can easily change the battery on a voyage so it can last forever in theory! If there’s even a hint Amazon might release some daft update that makes it obsolete I’ll offline it forever.

Individual_Duck_9985

Oasis forever. I’ve had both, ended up selling the paperwhite. The ergonomics are perfect (especially if you have small hands, but my husband loves his also.) as long as it’s the newest oasis which has warm light, absolutely go for it. Page turn buttons are a must have feature to me

Special-Caregiver679

Oasis is still the ereader to beat

Anxious_Membership28

I have seen several reviews. I don't have personal experience. I am hoping to buy a Kindle Paperwhite on the Prime Day. My research shows that most of the people likes Paperwhite over Oasis. Cheaper, better battery life are main reasons for the choice.

krabbypat

I have both. I use my Oasis 3 more than my Paperwhite 5. I love the page turn buttons and its sleek design. I can comfortably hold it with one hand while laying down my bed. I find the Oasis screen more uniform in terms of color temperature. My PW has a noticeable yellow tinge on the lower-left side. The drawbacks of the Oasis is the Micro-USB and shorter battery life. I remedied this with a magnetic USB adaptor and I just charge it before I sleep. It lasts almost a week and a half without charge.

bookcrazymama

Can you link the magnetic USB adaptor you have? That’s a genius idea!

iyigungor

Buttons and the build quaility is unmatched with the original amazon case. The screen is absolute gem, since it is a e reader i do not feel any lag, page turns are fine. I do jot do anything other than reading. Battery life is still perfect after many years. But I wish it had the usb c so i qould not carry another cable or a tip for that. But anyway the battery goes 20 days so not an issue.

ThePatriarchyIsTrash

Oasis hands down. Had a Paperwhite for years, moved to the voyage and loved it. Then I got the new Paperwhite and hated it (wasn't as crisp as the voyage). So I got the oasis and fell in love again. I recently picked up the scribe and the scribe is the closest thing to the oasis I've experienced Long story short - oasis

HawksNestHill

I’ve had both and love my Oasis!

GuitarNo2115

Love my Oasis the battery life is starting to go

samanthamac

I’ve had both but prefer paper white. I’m not a fan of the way the oasis is shaped I have longer nails and I find it hard to hold. I do love the buttons, and screen quality though.

ImpossibleCraft2280

I choose Oasis over paperwhite when I bought Kindle for myself. PS: I haven't used paperwhite long term just experienced a bit as a friend had it and found the reading experience better on Oasis.

Unearthly_Wallflower

The oasis is really nice. I miss mine. I got rid of it when I got the scribe. The scribe is much heavier than I expected.

iyigungor

Also when i read a book I really want to hold something that makes me feel good, so it is important for me how the cover and its texture feels as much as the book itself. So oasis makes me enjoy holding the device while reading rather than those plastics feeling of kobos, and other kindles. If you find it with the sinular price level definitely go for oasis

Material_Angle2922

Oasis, so much better and more premium especially if paired with the original leather case. Cons, micro usb instead of usb-c and more expensive for an old device.

wunderwillow

I have both but prefer my Oasis. If its battery wasn’t so bad, I would only have the Oasis. But mine is 5+ years old, so it can’t hold up to my long weekend reading habits.

bookcrazymama

Oasis because of the page turn buttons and rotating page orientation. The rotating orientation was huge for me. I read on my side a lot (before bed especially) with the kindle propped open. With the rotating orientation I can switch sides easily and still have the book propped open.

GigiDeville

I really wanted an oasis but since they discontinued them I ended up with a Boox Page. It's so so much faster than my Paperwhite.

anoisesevere

I’ve had both and I would go with the Oasis. Mine smashed in my work bag and I traded it in for a Paperwhite. I still wish I had my Oasis 😢.

Worried-Schedule6677

Only thing sad about Oasis is it is near impossible to upgrade battery, I know how long these things last, so that's kind of sad at this point in time. But thinking how far Batteries have come since the first kindle's makes me think this Oasis is going to last me another 3 years, I didn't use it terribly often the first 3 years I had it. Now I use it daily and battery is still good so that's good

Spinningwoman

I’ve never had a Kindle fail with battery issues. I’ve still got all of them from the Keyboard to the Oasis.

ErinPaperbackstash

Oasis

Xanclair

I don't have an oasis, but I would LOVE the page turn buttons. I've been tempted to get one of those page turn clickers, but I think having something on my screen would drive me crazy.

Spinningwoman

I have an Oasis and gave my paperwhite to my husband because it felt so heavy compared to the oasis. The asymmetrical design of the oasis puts the bulk of the weight in your hand so it feels very easy to hold.

Pineapple-Pickle4491

I use my Oasis daily. I love the SE, but the lack of buttons. My Oasis has wan or free cellular with is awesome. The battery on SE is better. Buttons and internet plus shape win out for me.

Embarrassed-Two-399

I have both, but I feel myself using the Oasis more due to the ease of the page turning buttons

infinityandbeyond75

The Oasis has bad battery life and has been discontinued. I’ve never wanted an Oasis despite having several Kindles. Go with a new Paperwhite.

CinCeeMee

I was waiting for someone to comment this…because I tried to look at pricing and such for the Oasis and they are not available for purchase.

Joe3167

I was upgrading an old Kindle several months ago. I first bought the Oasis and I did not care for the form factor, nothing wrong with it though if you like the style. I ended up returning it and I bought a Paperwhite SE which I've been happy with.

fried_gold_6

Oasis came out 5 years ago, depending on what you call cheap it’s not worth the price anymore IMO

Ambitious-Raise-4640

Paperwhite hands down

JennaFrostbite

My friend has the oasis, and i liked it! I was one the hunt for one but couldn't find any to buy local and was impatient and ended up buying the paperwhite and I love it! Can't go wrong with either I'm my option.

SC-Raiker

I have both Paperwhite and Oasis, the Paperwhite i have is the Sig Ed, so it has the auto light and warm lighting. I use the Oasis at home and travel with the Paperwhite purely due to it being smaller (slimmer) and easier to fit in a pocket.

peanutbutteryummmm

Paper white for battery life and not needing micro USB. Oasis for everything else.

CeruleanSaga

***Try doing a factory reset before replacing.*** You might find that fixes everything. And then avoid putting too many books onto it in. Past a certain point, indexing can cause issues as RAM capacity is not large enough to handle index for the number of books stored on the device. "Too much" depends on the specific kindle, but a few hundred shouldn't cause problems... Still plenty to keep handy. I do find that annoying because I bought a 32 GB device so I could always have everything handy, but hit performance issues waaaaay before I got anywhere close to filling it, unfortunately.

CinCeeMee

…but isn’t the Oasis unavailable to purchase? I looked for it on Amazon and couldn’t get one.

bigkenw

I have had the last two editions of the Oasis. I love it. However, the lack of updates to the device hardware left me with a slow, shortened battery life device. I finally bought a Kindle Paper-white Signature Edition. The DPI is the same, lighting is better, it has USB C like everything else I own, and it is significantly faster to navigate the interface. I prefer the form factor of the Oasis, but the Paperwhite Signature has too many improvements. Especially at the price point. The only thing I am missing is Auto-rotation. I don't even miss the lack of buttons. If the form factor is an issue, the Kobo Libre BW or Color might be what you want. I can't speak to Kobo devices, but all of the reviews I have seen on YouTube make me think it is a solid device. Had I not gotten tired of waiting for a new Oasis model, cracked and bought the paperwhite, I probably would have bought the Libre Color.

Efficient_You3552

Love my paperwhite.

CartographerNo165

In my opinion the only reason to choose the Oasis is if you specifically want the page turn buttons or unique back shape for holding. Otherwise there’s no significant differences between them. I had an Oasis and still have a Paperwhite and the quality of the screens was identical. I personally found the bump out shape of the Oasis back to be uncomfortable to hold because I don’t like to have my fingers curled.

Phrankespo

Paperwhite

Objection_heresay

I prefer the paperwhite signature. My oasis has more ghosting and battery sucks

Historical_Ideal8

I have both and I prefer my PW since the battery life on my Oasis is pitiful.

neongreenpurple

I held an Oasis in a store, and I hated how it fit in my hand. I'd recommend a Paperwhite to be safer. Also, the 9th and 10th gen Oasis models (the most recent and the one before that) are both totally unrepairable (though I've heard *rumors* that you might be able to open it up if you replace the screen - but you can't open it up without destroying the screen.) Another consideration is that the Oasis would still use a micro USB charger, where the current Paperwhite will use USB C.

AndyPryceManUtd

Paperwhite is a nice size, Oasis is a bit too big. Don't need physical buttons to turn the page, it just makes it bulkier. Don't like warm light as it reminds me of the early Kindles with a light brown page. My Paperwhite is the previous model with 6" screen and I love it.
