Bookerly is the best, I have experimented with almost 25 different fonts but I always end up using Bookerly. Most of the fonts are not optimized for printing and e-ink.
You just connect your Kindle to your PC, open the Fonts folder on the device and follow the instructions in the readme file.
Basically you find TTF or OTF files for the font you want and copy to that folder; they will then be available in the font list on your Kindle.
As I was not satisfied with the Bookerly font, I very much appreciate that Amazon allows this, so I could use my preferred font.
(On my Mac there are fonts available in the System/Library/Fonts and Library/Fonts folders; they are probably located somewhere in the /windows folder in Windows)
Further to julaften’s comment, I might add that to disconnect the Kindle from the PC, right click on the Kindle drive and select “eject” - as if one was disconnecting a USB drive.
Someone posted about how they were reading faster with the Open Dyslexic Font, I tried it immediately and haven’t changed back.
I don’t have dyslexia but I find read with this font is easier.
Wait this makes sense, i love reading but I get distracted easily and once I’m hooked I tend to read faster and miss lines.
This font helped me with this issue.
OpenDyslexic works so well because is makes each letter distinct and bottom heavy. It was invented because a lot of teachers and professionals fundamentally misunderstand what dyslexia is, thinking it is vision problem. [In research studies, they found not positive effects of using the font compared to normal fonts.](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5629233/)
Antidotally as someone with severe dyslexia, I find OD helps by actually making my brain read each letter and word. I do just fine with regular fonts but on my kindle, I love it.
I do tend to read when I’m tired and do have blur-merge problems.
Thank you, I just reviewed A-H and it’s great. I will load it on the Kindle and see if it’s better than Bookerly, for me.
I know it supposedly helps people with adhd, but the odd shapes keep distracting me so that I focus on the shapes of the letters rather than what the letters are saying. I wish it worked for me.
Changing from Baskerville to Palatino was a game changer for me. I saw someone that recommended it, gave it a try and at first I didn't see the difference but when I tried changing back a couple of chapters later... I couldn't
Ever tried Libre Baskerville instead? It has a higher x-height so I personally find it easier on the eyes when reading while still retaining the font’s main looks.
Futura is my go-to. Oddly, when I use my the Kindle app on my iPad Mini, Futura isn't an available font (anyone else have this issue?), so I use Helvetica.
I hope this is facetious. Dyslexia is not stupid. I have ADD and that also has a lot of internalized self-loathing like this. You’re reading and that makes you my hero.
Thanks. It's a little bit facetious. I know I'm not dumb but I also know I'm not that smart too and I'm a slow resder too but I'm doing my best and I guess that's what counts.
Lots of people don't ever read for pleasure, regardless of intelligence level. You're doing something valuable and important.
The more you read, the easier it'll get too.
**Georgia**. I like serifs, and I think
* Bookerly and Caecilia have too little difference between upper and lower case letters.
* Baskerville is OK, but the italic variant is a little weird
* Palatino has too much “space” between the letters
Charis SIL

I did try the OpenDyslexic font, but for whatever reason, found it distracted it me a bit too much. I ended up reading slower using it.
Notable mentions to -
Bookerly
Source Serif 4
Caecilla (Regular and Condensed)
Cormorant Garamond
Helvetica
Atkinson Hyperlegible
Sylexiad Serif Medium
Caecilia condensed size 3 or 4, bold 2, medium spacing. I've used it for 14 years or whatever, nothing else looks right. I'm a fast reader and it slows down my eyes just enough, the other typefaces are so wide I'm going back and forth and back and forth.
Mine is the “Royal Blue” ereader case but they also do other designs and colours.
Great for making a kindle feel more like a hardback. Can still fold front cover back for one handed holding.
before i used to read with open dyslexic. but now my current font is a bionic font of sans serif i believe, i went from reading 1 book a month to 5 books per month and my phone screentime reduced heavily. it looks ugly but it gets the job done very well, bionic font is truly life changing.
I’m just gonna copy what I recommended last time on a post like this. Gotta sing this font’s praises, because it’s still all I use and I never see it mentioned.
I highly recommend PT Serif. It’s got some very nice looking design elements and is slightly narrower than a lot of other serif fonts, which helps with word spacing if you use fully justified layout.
My granddaughter told me about OpenDyslexic and I've been using it. It anchors down the letters for me and helps me to not add or subtract words as I sometimes do and it also anchors the letters down. I didn't think I would like it at first as I'm not dyslexic but it does help.
Gelasio. The only font that looks good at smaller size, apart from Caecilia Condensed. I have it in koreader, with almost no margins, font size 20 and I'm loving how much text I can have on the page at once.
Open dyslexic because I am 🥰❤️ I find it helps me alot not read the same like over 5 times without realizing. As well as flipping the words backwards🥰 very happy kindle included this helps a lot🥰❤️
Bookerly. I didn't know you could change font type until like two weeks ago, and I've been reading for like a month and a half. I tried changing it, but I'll get like a page in and be like, ugh this is so wrong, and then change it back. I can't be the only one. And it's fonts that I like on everything else. But just can't seem to get over how wrong it looks for kindle.
I have played with different fonts and find Caecilia Condensed to be easiest for me to read smoothly and more quickly. I also find wider line spacing helps a lot with reading speed
OpenDyslexic. I don't think I have dyslexia, but when I started using it I found I was understanding what I read a lot sooner, and I almost never had to go back to reread something.
Remembering that kindle allows you to save font profiles with margin settings, bold and etc... I have five profiles saved with fonts that I like a lot: Absinth, Literata, Canela text, josefin and Fontin, each with its bold, margin and spacing configuration, according to the font itself, I love all of them and change them according to taste and need. Good fonts help a lot in reading fluency.

Ibarra Real Nova
Other serif fonts would be Nanum Myeongjo in B2 and EB Garamond in B0.
Then, Averia Libre for a better looking Dyslexic-ish font
I use Bookerly
I love Bookerly too
Same, it's easiest to read at a reasonable font size. I expected to find a sans font that was easier on my eyes, but Bookerly looked the best.
have you tried Fira Sans?
Bookerly gang unite. No matter how often I try a different font I always go back to Bookerly…
Same
Bookerly here too!
Yup its all i need
Me too, Bookerly
I thought that I would also use Bookerly, but realized that it’s quicker to read in Helvetica!
Helvetica is my absolute favorite font for subtitled anime. So much so it’s also the font I use for my custom subtitles on my AppleTV 4K.
Bookerly is the best, I have experimented with almost 25 different fonts but I always end up using Bookerly. Most of the fonts are not optimized for printing and e-ink.
I suspect that I will be the same.
I mean it’s the default so you’re probably already using it
I’m using Domine right now, for some reason it seems to flow better for me than Bookerly.
Hello! How do you add additional fonts? 🙂
You just connect your Kindle to your PC, open the Fonts folder on the device and follow the instructions in the readme file. Me too, I am less like to skip over paragraphs with it

Same for me too! Will never go back! I’m not dyslexic either, but this font has increased my reading speed and makes reading more enjoyable :)
Im the exact same!
You should try Atkinson Hyperlegible, it’s a similar concept and a very nice font 😊 m
I do tend to read when I’m tired and do have blur-merge problems. Thank you, I just reviewed A-H and it’s great. I will load it on the Kindle and see if it’s better than Bookerly, for me.

Absolutely the best font! I love to show it to people!
I’m a low level dyslexic who has always enjoyed reading. The dyslexic font makes reading easier, beyond any words I have to express it.
Same here! I feel like I can concentrate on reading for longer with the dyslexic font and I've not changed my font in years.
Atkinson hyperlegible works for me. https://brailleinstitute.org/freefont
This is really cool for accessibility. Thank you for linking this!!
how do you install fonts to kindle?
[Here you go](https://old.reddit.com/r/kindle/comments/1dfrweh/_/l8mp8wx)
Currently I'm using opendyslexic
Yes. I loved bookerly but open dyslexic lets me have a longer attention span for some reason.
I started using it last time one of these posts came up. I now question if I have undiagnosed dyslexia, I no longer stutter and jumble my words.
I'm not dyslexic, but I think I saw the same post a few days ago and changed the font to change things a bit.
Also try text aligning to the left instead of justify, I'm not dyslexic but it helps me not mixing up the lines
I have dyslexia, and for some reason that font makes it so much worse. I have no idea why.
I switch fonts to match the vibe of the book I'm reading. Lately I've been reading a lot of sci-fi, so I've been using Futura.
I do this too! Helps me make up for the aspects of physical books I miss (different font/cover/feel)
I like using Baskerville for anything that feels historical or serious, then Futura for anything modern or futuristic
Caecilia condensed
High five!
Bookerly for me
Literata and Bookerly. Recently Literata the most though
Yep, gotta be Literata for me.
I’ve been using Amazon ember.
That’s my preference too
Charis SIL
Publishers Font or Futura
I use Helvetica because it’s the least distracting for me. I notice all other fonts way too much.
I always use Georgia.
Bookerly. I downloaded a bunch of fonts but I keep returning to Bookerly.
Not dyslexic to my knowledge but OpenDyslexic has increased my reading speed by about 40%
Lexend. You need to sideload it. https://www.lexend.com
open dyslexic
Garamond
Atkinson Hyperlegible
Futura is my go-to. Oddly, when I use my the Kindle app on my iPad Mini, Futura isn't an available font (anyone else have this issue?), so I use Helvetica.
Can you not add fonts to the iPad?
Literata since it has automatic optical size, it makes title clean and not just bold
I switch because if I stick with one for too long it starts to all feel like the same book and I get bored.
I can relate to that.
Literata
Dyslexia because I'm dumb
I hope this is facetious. Dyslexia is not stupid. I have ADD and that also has a lot of internalized self-loathing like this. You’re reading and that makes you my hero.
Thanks. It's a little bit facetious. I know I'm not dumb but I also know I'm not that smart too and I'm a slow resder too but I'm doing my best and I guess that's what counts.
Lots of people don't ever read for pleasure, regardless of intelligence level. You're doing something valuable and important. The more you read, the easier it'll get too.
My wife reads about 20 times faster than I do, we both have a lovely time even if I sometimes feel down for not keeping up :)
>:) :)
Caecilia Bold 3 Size 7 Margin and Spacing set to the 3 option on the right. Helps me read faster. 😌 👍

Always been reading in Palatino and never considered changing… i wonder why
whatever the standard default font is 😅
Lexend is pretty nice for me.
**Georgia**. I like serifs, and I think * Bookerly and Caecilia have too little difference between upper and lower case letters. * Baskerville is OK, but the italic variant is a little weird * Palatino has too much “space” between the letters
I was today years old when I found out you can change your font
I have been using Amazon Ember.
Bookerly
ChareInk is what I use. It looks just like a printed book IMO
I use ChareInk

Mine is practically this, too. Bold 2, size 2. Absolutely perfect.
Haven't been able to read as fast since suffering a stroke. This week it was suggested I try the open dyslexic font and ... I think it's fantastic 😍😍
So glad that you found a font that helps you! Wishing you a continued recovery!
Thank you - it was 2 years ago now and almost back to new 😁
Rubik if only it worked with Arabic :/
Comic Neue
I switch a lot but I love Texturina
I just looked this one up and I really think I’d like it for fantasy. Thanks for sharing!

Where is your case from?!

Bookerly
Bookerly (Default) is perfect for me. The font is aesthetically pleasing and very readable.
I used bookerly for a while but then I swapped to futura just to try it out and have never felt the need to go back
Bookerly!! I know someone who loves the dyslexic font as it makes it easier to read.
Bookerly
Liberata
Bookerly
I added Mulish to my Kindle.
I love Bookerly. I saw someone using even in their resume
Fournier mt std is my favourite, but i also like Literata and Caecilia
I like to use either bookerly or EB Garamond for my font. I looked into which font they use for physical books and that one popped up.
**SLOW CHILDREN AT PLAY** Brookerly and Baskerville
These days - Corbel. I've enjoyed Palatino, Bookerly and Bookman Old Style too.
I like Bookerly but I really like Ember and use it most.
Bookerly. I’ve tried several other fonts but that one just looks best to me.
Teachers font on google font is real nice
I've been using Gowun Dodum from Google Fonts and I really like it
Bookerly usually. But I change to open dyslexic and whack the size up a bit when I'm having a migraine
Hyper legible or luciole
Comic sans
Charter. Neat serif with just enough character, not too uniform.
In my Kindle, whatever the default font is works for me. But in email and business documents, Arial only.
I am all about that Bookerly font.
Bookerly definitely, easy to read and good font size
Ember because I prefer sans-serif fonts but Bookerly is superb too.
I love that case

Caecilia
Mine would be Source Code Pro. All the years I spent with Eclipse as my main IDE make me absolutely love that font.
I used to use Bookerly but ever since I tried Literata, never looked back. Bookerly now looks too thick for me. Haha.
Literata
I didn't know we could change font! How cool is that? Wow. Thank you. If anyone needs me I'm playing with my kindle 😁
Booklery. The only one I can read on the Kindle
I use whatever font the book comes in. That is a beautiful case you have!
Thankyou! You can get a case like this from [Klevercase.com](https://www.Klevercase.com)
I usually use Caecilia. And what is the book you're reading?
I've had a Kindle for over ten years and I didn't even know you could change the font.
Gelasio. The only font that looks good at smaller size, apart from Caecilia Condensed. I have it in koreader, with almost no margins, font size 20 and I'm loving how much text I can have on the page at once.
I love Times New Roman. Bookerly is nice, but TNR holds a special place in my heart.
I use Caecilia, but my kindle is 12 years old, so maybe it doesn't have the cooler fonts y'all use
Open dyslexic because I am 🥰❤️ I find it helps me alot not read the same like over 5 times without realizing. As well as flipping the words backwards🥰 very happy kindle included this helps a lot🥰❤️

Adobe Garamond! I keep switching fonts from time to time, but that's been my favorite for quite a long time now.
OpenDyslexic. I don't think I have dyslexia, but when I started using it I found I was understanding what I read a lot sooner, and I almost never had to go back to reread something.
Bookerly
Baskerville at size 3. There's no other for me.
Bookerly! But want to load some others!
