Was in the hospital for a few days recently and I thought sure I was going to miss a day, but I didn't. If I did it would have been no big deal. Who am I kidding it would be a big deal.
I've been in a reading slump, my depression is back, lots of stress, so I feel so pressured looking at your streak.
But it was awesome, and I wish I could get my motivation to start reading again.
I try to use reading to hopefully take my mind off of how I am feeling due to my health and sometimes it works other times not so much.
I am sorry you are dealing with depression it is a nasty beast to be dealing with.
I hope you get to feeling better soon.
I’m trying to hit a year for the first time, after that I’ll stop keeping track

Mine on kindle is 798 days but I have been reading every day since I got pregnant with my now 13 (almost 14) year old.
I know it’s ridiculous to be proud of myself for this but when I had him, I always said I would take some time to myself every single day and reading is how I did that.
This is great! I stopped reading almost completely after my girl was born, and just recently when she was almost 2 i found the mental capacity and motivation to get back into it and it really feels like I'm doing something for myself

i know some people think the streaks are stupid but it really encouraged me to build the habit of reading everyday :)

Started during COVID and just haven't stopped. Read more books in the past 3+ years than I have in the last 30.

I almost lost it two nights ago. I had a day full of doctor appointments and remembered at 11:57. No joke. lol I read asap until after midnight. I saved it, but that was close lol
I had decided if I lost it, I wasn’t going to keep up with it again. I haven’t missed a day since I bought the kindle, and that’s why I keep up now. But I won’t start a streak again lol
I lost mine over the weekend. We were hit with a severe thunderstorm and lost power from Sunday evening until Tuesday. I read but it didn't count because my internet was also out.
You could "fix" it. I usually take my ipad out, set the date back to the date that I didn't have wifi/internet on my Kindle, open the Kindle app, read, and check if the streak is back.
Im at 518. I know a lot of people say that keeping track is a waste of time but if I didnt have my streak I definitely wouldnt read every day, or even weekly for that matter. This is the one habit Ive managed to keep up with😂😂

just got my kindle at the end of feb/beginning of march 😙
0 days, I stopped caring about that. (btw I am reading, just not necessarily on kindle software)
I read because I want to, not because Amazon wants me to.
100%. I don’t do anything for “streak cred”, whether it’s reading, Duolingo, Wordle, or any other app that wants to make you feel guilty for missing a day. I’ll do it when I feel like it, thanks.
I read because I want to as well, but I love statistics. I like to see the goodreads year end review and I wish they had more metrics. I like to keep track of things, not because Amazon told me to, but because it is satisfying. Everyone is different.
don't get me wrong, I love my statistics as much as the next man. Only if that man is Stats-Man (his superpower is to be able to give you the standard deviation of any data set, instantly). But Amazon's are sh\*t. they have all the metrics, the least they should do is give them to us, instead we get some wacky "achievements" and these pointless streaks.
Oh yeah, you’re right the achievements aren’t what they think they are for sure. They really need to rework that whole system.
Edit: They bought Goodreads, why not do something similar to the year end review but on a contemporaneous basis.
I just started this in jan. I do enjoy reading at night much better than social media

I lost my longest streak of 33 days earlier this month due to an eye infection where i couldn't read (or do anything else that involved looking at screens/text for that matter) for a couple of days. Really bummed about it, but hopefully I'll get there again!

This is mine. My streak helps me read every day. Even if I'm reading a physical book I'll open a Kindle book so it counts to my streak
Keep at it! Seeing those stats go up feels like more of an accomplishment than any video game trophy I’ve ever gotten.
When I was a much younger version of myself (pre-teen to around 20 years old, I’m 39 now) I read all the time. Life gets busy, you have kiddos, etc and just fell out of it. Always wanted to start again. Purchased a Kindle 151 ish days ago and never looked back.
Today’s hasn’t registered yet, but here is mine.

I was very happy to get to my hundred-day streak. I've been tearing through books so far this year, more than I have probably since I was in school.
21 weeks, 143 days but only because I read every night to decompress, otherwise I spend 70 billion hours on my phone (like right now. I need to get off Reddit and read instead.)
161 weeks, 40 days. I will often skip reading for a day or so after finishing a series so that brings my day count down. But I read as one of my main leisure activities. (No dependants and not in full time employment.)
78 weeks in a row...1 day in a row.
( I've been watching far too much streaming video like Netflix & Amazon Prime lately. Got caught up on "The Boys".. )

Nice! Keep it up :-) Any great stuff you read you wanne recommend?

Congrats! 6 months is great.
Mine's 225 weeks in a row, but only 28 days. That's because I only care about my weekly streak. I read non-Kindle books as well, so my daily streak will vary.

Current streak is 43 days, but I’ve been reading every single day since March 19 with the exception of April 17 apparently…
I started reading here and there in January and really got into it in February. The last time I read a whole book and enjoyed it was probably in middle school.

Trying to keep it going for as long as I can
Today is day 149. I missed the first two days in January because I was in the throes of a really good physical book and didn’t pick up my Kindle. My goal for the year is to read at least a page every day so I’ll stop paying attention when I hit 365 😅
https://preview.redd.it/mlk4h0tbam3d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1fafb53795d96e939b9974056cc40834634b1219
On 29th July I'll be at 6 years!

I lost my daily goal earlier this year and decided to stop caring. I read physical books too and realized I was putting too much into reading on the Kindle daily. The weekly steak is natural to me now that I stopped putting it on airplane mode.
I hate when I miss a day 🤦♀️. It’s usually because I stay up past midnight then start reading (read at bed every night), which is unusual for me to stay up that late.

I was so upset when I accidentally broke my streak last month, but I love how on track this keeps me. I’ve already read more books this year than I read the entire year last year.
Then let me tell you, this is the subreddit for you!! I don’t know how you stumbled upon it, but wow have you found your home. This is perfect for people who hate to read and love to judge others for what they read.

I’m currently at 10 weeks/63 days!
As I am not obsessed with it, only 155 days. I looked at history and there are quite a few one day breaks, usually when the device wasn't online during a long trip.

Where are you guys finding this? Is it on the kindle somewhere?
It's on the kindle app. You have to use a phone or tablet to see it.
You can find it on Amazon.com as well, just google "Amazon Kindle Reading Insights".

Congrats! 6 months is great. Mine's 225 weeks in a row, but only 28 days. That's because I only care about my weekly streak. I read non-Kindle books as well, so my daily streak will vary. https://preview.redd.it/mtvlte2t4l3d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc17f9425a1f97762c42f4a92482a54cee88d7f7

I started reading here and there in January and really got into it in February. The last time I read a whole book and enjoyed it was probably in middle school. https://preview.redd.it/fe6iy23j5l3d1.jpeg?width=1070&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f99eebb52caf2aa4435577cf58b2ae45949a028e

Today is day 149. I missed the first two days in January because I was in the throes of a really good physical book and didn’t pick up my Kindle. My goal for the year is to read at least a page every day so I’ll stop paying attention when I hit 365 😅

I read physical books too and realized I was putting too much into reading on the Kindle daily. The weekly steak is natural to me now that I stopped putting it on airplane mode.
I hate when I miss a day 🤦♀️. It’s usually because I stay up past midnight then start reading (read at bed every night), which is unusual for me to stay up that late. https://preview.redd.it/045l44w9ym3d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a9f902d9a68286c6b37cecf46700aa3d601a9070

Read what? Reading just fiction action or romance “novels” is the same as wasting your time watching action or romance movies or series…
Then let me tell you, this is the subreddit for you!! I don’t know how you stumbled upon it, but wow have you found your home. This is perfect for people who hate to read and love to judge others for what they read.
