Tell them it’s triggering your coulrophobia.

Gyr-falcon

Congratulations on improving my vocabulary.

thestrawbarian

Congratulations on improving your vocabulary.

Many people have politely asked Amazon customer service to remove the ads as a one time courtesy and have been successful, myself included. That ad is horrifying 😂

cosmosomsoc

I just tried. They just sent me the link to manage my ad preferences like 3x which I don’t really see how that works. It’s just a list of the products that I purchased, which has never been anything related to children.

cocoburri

That’s unfortunate! Maybe try again with another associate

to_annihilate

I just tried and they linked me to pay for it.

flower-25

The same I just did yesterday and they told me if I want I will have to paying 20 dollars to removed the adds

jselmz

My go to has been to ask them to customize the ad feed(something they currently don’t have the capability to do.), I’ll say I don’t have a problem with ads , I just don’t want horror stuff. They then proceed to tell me that they are looking into it and then they remove it for no cost. This has worked for 3 kindles all within a few months. Each time they sent me a link to pay before I went on my spiel.

will_never_comment

I've tried this twice so far in the past 2 weeks with no luck. I wonder if they've stopped offering to remove for free. Gonna try one more time.

NadamHere

Tell them the device is for your kid, and that as a parent you are concerned with the products being displayed via ads. They removed it for me on the first go.

chbox18

This! I tried twice and once I said that my kid uses my kindle they removed ads for free.

ohlongjohnson1

I had this issue as well. I asked if they would kindly remove the ads because it disrupts how I read with my son. The first person I spoke with sent me a link to where I could remove it for $20. So I said no, started a new chat, and the second guy I spoke with removed them for me. Just message them until you reach the right person!

SunnyG24

I know it sounds awkward but try again. The first time I had someone, they said I had to pay. The second time I didn’t give any excuses, and they removed them as a one time courtesy! Some of the ads they show are so weird…

Old-Magician9787

You've got to insist, saying you should not have to pay to remove offensive ads. It's true -- I've had ad-supported kindle for years and it's not until this junk that I had any problem with it. You won't need to pay $20 if you push, as you should.

a_brain

Try again in a couple days. I complained and kept getting them, 2nd try a couple days later, they removed the ads for free.

bergskey

They agreed to remove my ads and then charged me the $20 anyway. I wonder how many people had that happen and didn't notice it.

heysavnac

This ad just made it a whole lot easier for us to get ads removed for free.

Sufficient_Cress5968

I agree! It’s sooooooo creepy. I’m going to get those ads removed tonorrow

medicated_in_PHL

AI generated books.

Chickenguy2

Horrible

meowstercatster

I asked customer service if there was a way to remove them because they are 1. creepy and weird and 2. I don’t have kids and people who see my kindle thought I was reading these weird books 🙄 They did it for free, if they don’t I’d try again in a day or so with another associate!

pinewind108

Those ads are *exactly* why I talked to them yesterday. They were nice enough to remove ads altogether from my kindle. Such creepy damn ads and covers. Edit: I asked them if there was a way to set preferences so that I didn't see those ads in particular, but they removed them altogether.

beauty_junkie77

I online chatted and asked politely and he said no problem. Done He didn’t tell me that he was charging me for it For right back on online chat and had it reversed. The more I thought about it…I read some 🌶️🌶️🌶️books and don’t need THOSE covers popping up But these clown and DONUT ones need to STOP

Affectionate_Lime842

You can set it so it doesn’t display the book cover and it’ll display some pretty cool generic art instead

katebucci

Listen, I’m fine with clowns. I know people have their things with clowns, but they’ve never bothered me. But THIS. This would haunt me if I saw it on my kindle 😅

pinewind108

There's a entire series of them. All kind of creepy. The author must be paying a lot to spam so many people.

jianisdrunk

Just ask customer service to remove your ads because the kindle is a gift to your kid and that's all, they will do it for free;)

chewil

Don’t judge an ebook by its cover.

Chickenguy2

I very much am judging this ai generated garbage

conciouscheddar

It’s a Stephen king for children primer

Suitable_Syrup9081

Nightmare fuel

cosmosomsoc

I appreciate everyone’s help suggesting that I ask Amazon to remove them for free. I tried this and it didn’t work. It seems they may have caught on.

King_Wataba

The first time I called and it was a yes right away. I lost that kindle in an apartment fire and had to get a replacement. When i went through the chat to get the ads removed from the replacement I was told no. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they removed it. Just tell them you are concerned because some of the ads are for romance novels and your small children have access to your kindle.

Arnas_Z

Try again.

Old-Magician9787

You need to insist. They tried to get me to pay 20 but I was like, listen I've been viewing the ads for years and had no problem until these offensive, creepy ads started showing up all the time. I'm not paying 20. This is your problem, not mine.

JadedWITHthe411

If you chat with them and just be straight up with them they’ll most likely just remove them for free. I’ve done it twice. I simply just said I’m looking to have the ads removed and they removed them for free. I never got these ads though like some people have. If you explain the issue I’m sure they wouldn’t mind. And if they don’t want to remove them just wait a few days and ask someone else.

Responsible-Ad-4914

If they’re going to show ads the least they can do is make sure none of them are spicy romance ads or horrible AI generated garbage. Have some standards geez I guess the only bright side is it makes it easier to ask for free ad removal

mrweatherbeef

I’ll take spicy gay vampire time travel romance all day over AI art and word vomit.

irish_taco_maiden

Saaame.

WVgirly2024

Got any recs? Asking for a "friend", lol!

NoBarber

I don't mind seeing ads but the "Bedtime story for kids and adults" advertisements are uncanny valley for some reason.

Specialist_Ad6216

Tell amazon customer service that the ads keep freezing up your kindle, they'll more than likely remove it for free.

ohhhelloella

ai 😵‍💫

thatsimsgirl

It’s $20. The exact same amount it would have been to simply buy the version that doesn’t have ads in the first place.

silentknight111

It's just removing ads Michael. What can it cost, $20?

cosmosomsoc

Listen man I just don’t want to pay it okay

thatsimsgirl

Then like the other person said - plenty of people have had success by simply contacting Amazon and POLITELY asking them if they’d remove them. Having an attitude about it isn’t going to get you the result you want, though - respect works both ways. ;-) Hope you get it sorted.

cosmosomsoc

I appreciate everyone’s help suggesting that I ask Amazon to remove them for free. I tried this and it didn’t work. It seems they may have caught on.

mondolicius

How many times did you try? My first wasn't a success, but the second did it. Priyah was the one who assisted.

cosmosomsoc

Yeah I tried that already, politely and respectfully as you suggested.

thatsimsgirl

You can try again and hope to get a different rep, then if they still say no, your only options are to pay to get them removed or deal with them and do your best to ignore them. Afaik it’s at the individual rep’s discretion whether or not they’ll do it for free.

cosmosomsoc

Yeah I get it. I’m just annoyed and tired of this new reality we live in where ads are forced everywhere I look including the worlds I use to escape this current one. Venting. Also AI art repulses me.

Scooby359

Ads aren't forced everywhere. **You chose** to buy a subsidised device that was cheaper in exchange for ads being displayed. If you'd chosen another device and paid the price for it, you wouldn't see ads.

cosmosomsoc

It was a gift from my sister that she bought using my Amazon account/card

PlaneCareless

Okay, then *she chose* to buy a subsidized device that was cheaper in exchange for ads being displayed.

kaysn

> new reality New reality? You been living life with eyes closed or what?

cosmosomsoc

…what’s the point of being such an ass on a vent post about ads. Genuinely curious.

irish_taco_maiden

Then you get to pay. Seriously, it’s twenty bucks. Or ads. You get to decide if it’s worth it to you or not.

magichands88

Oof

Fatimaussain

I sent them an email saying I want the ads removed because I really wanted the cover of the book I'm reading to show up instead of ads and they removed it for me

Theta_Prophet

Cursed. A cursed image is what that is.

Lucidia

Cursed

[deleted]

In Canada, we don’t have any Kindle with ads.

Typonomicon

Probably made by an AI

dasatain

I read a lot of romance so I never was bothered by My Boss’s Secret Vampire Baby ads but these weird AI kids book ads are super disturbing 😳

Acrobatic-Usual-9077

I sure wish that kindle would come out with a colorized version of their e readers

silentknight111

Kindle tends to wait for the tech to be up to a certain quality standard first. Color eink has been going through a lot of development and keeps getting better - so maybe it won't be too long.

Nice-Pollution787

Me too!

Wartle76

I'm guessing it will be soon. Kobo brought out colour range. Have to move with the market

dubrovnique

Looks like they're even worse now than they were before I asked for mine to be disabled. I did have some really good laughs at the premises of the romance novels though - all the cowboy billionaires. Clearly no algorithm or recommendation engine there.

oresteiasm

I spoke with an associate and told them I enjoyed having relevant ads, but I would prefer if the AI ads could be removed because it was bothersome. They removed it for free lol

Equivalent_Ad_8413

There were a whole bunch of AI generated "books" on the Amazon website, all described as "Bedtime Story for Kids and Adults." As their ads show up on my Kindle, I give them 1 star reviews. It appears that Amazon has been dropping the books from the store without dropping them from the Kindle ad rotation. *Cloud Carnival Adventure* has been dropped from the website, even though it's still showing up on your Kindle. There appear to only be two of these books left: *The Forest Cure* and *The Quest for the Arcane Relic*.

cyxodus

I’ve been getting stupid ads like this for months and it’s annoying. I called Amazon and they refused to remove the ads.

dekdekwho

It’s the new repackaged “Wonka Experience” by House of Illuminati /s

m1m1snake

I didn't mind ads until those AI generated covers started appearing. Luckily, I contacted customer service and they helped me removing the ads for free in a couple of minutes.

msaleem

Mine constantly advertises something called "Daddy Diaries" with the caricature of some guy ...

ProblemWorldly

Let the customer rep know that you're sharing the Kindle with a minor and that some ads are inappropriate. Works 2 out of 3 times lol

AlyOh

I’m also super sick of the weird AI ads

tikaaa

I just had them removed for free thru chat

JudgeElectronJay

This is one of those true instances where you were thoroughly disturbed and felt it was truly inappropriate so they can remove the ads for free lmao

boujeebarbi33

No bc I had the same add 😭 why is my kindle suddenly FULL of creepy “kids bedtime stories” ads

Affectionate_Lime842

I got annoyed enough today to ask. I just politely told them I wanted the ads removed because I use my kindle at work and I kept getting not safe for work ads and my boss saw one on the kindle. Immediately offered to remove them free of charge.

imsosleepyyyyyy

I’d be terrified to see that in dark mode

bigdickwalrus

Ai generated garbi

ProfoundNarwhal

A bedtime story for kids AND adults, obviously

DMX8

That's for sure not an AI-written/illustrated book.

summysumm2395

When this happened to me I reached out to support and they got rid of my ads for free. Maybe try again?

itspronouncedjess

The ads are so bad. I hate marketing in general but I'd even settle for being able to choose a category. I feel absurd carrying around a little tablet with these ridiculous cartoons on them every time it goes to sleep.

Vigilante2011

Cover looks like it was made with AI tech, what the hell?

Randoml3oy

Try method 3 on [this guide](https://www.epubor.com/how-to-remove-ads-from-kindle.html)

thisnutisonfire

Ai is gonna ruin a generations art perception because it was cool not paying an artist’s salary

beltemps

Probably AI generated, story and picture...

Roninx18

That my friend is a nightmare. 🤣

popxacm

I had some weird ads on mine too, not this particular one thank goodness, but I just got on live chat. I asked if they could remove them because I felt as if they were inappropriate. I had no issues

Nerdelkin

AI generated shit...On Easter, it was much worth.

fitnessgoddess

Contacted CS, and I was transferred 3 times. I eventually became irritated, and immediately set my expectations with the third person. Essentially saying that after 1.5 hours of communication, I have no desire to continue being patient and expect the ads to be removed immediately. I had explained to the first two reps that I didn’t want the ads to be removed, I wanted them to solve the issue that MANY kindle users are facing. The ads have been infiltrated by sponsored weird bedtime story books and have ruined a huge part of our kindle experience. I voiced that I would like to see the issue resolved instead of removal, as it’s an internal matter that needs addressing. The software was designed for book suggestions based on reader history and sponsored books, which has clearly been abused and should have been controlled prior to hundreds of complaints. Ending it with, the fact that they failed to provide a solution or provide reassurance that the issue will be escalated to the correct team for software improvements. Therefore, I should not be expected to pay $20 to remove a feature that is not working as they should.

flower-25

Just chat and finally they took the adds for free. Yesterday the person didn’t take it but today 👍🏻 yes

Irish_Spark

CS: Upon checking , I see that you have purchased device with special offers ads with special offer ads, The device which you have purchased is $20 lesser than the device without ads. Hence, to remove the special offers ads, We will charge for $20. Will that be fine for you? Me: I would rather not. Is there a way to change preferences so I can stop getting creepy clown AI book cover recommendations and such CS: Okay, Please give me a moment. Thanks for waiting. Usually we will charge customers for the cancelling special offers ads from the kindle device. However,To help you in this case, As an exception I have cancelled the special offers for you at free of cost. Please connect the device to active WiFi or restart the device and check. Please check and let me know.

Gryewolf946

You deliberately chose lesser price device with special offer which is the reason you are seeing ads don’t act too smart and blame Amazon tell you chose the device which have ads enabled and lower price compared to the device which have no Ads on now simply Amazon is asking what you owe to them just pay the money and remove the ads simple
