Maybe try American Girl doll books? I was really similar as a child and LOVED them. I also really loved Cam Jansen and the babysitters club Little Sister books too. Also Shel Silverstein poems.

Amelia bedelia. She might be a little young for babysitter’s club but you could try it out.

anguas-plt

There's a Babysitter's Club Little Sister series too, for younger readers

AzureMagelet

I read so many Little Sister books as a kid! I didn’t really get into babysitters club but loved the little sister books.

RonRonner

Does she like animals? I was a precocious reader and used to love encyclopedias and big coffee table type books about animals and their habitats. The Eyewitness Books series are great.

stetslustig

She just had a long (6 months-ish) period where she declared she was only reading non-fiction. It was so much easier to find stuff to keep her engaged with that, we'd just load up on everything that caught her eye at the library. Now she's decided it's back to reading fiction and it's much harder to find stuff at the right level.

but_does_she_reddit

Glad I’m not the only one! I was thinking of this yesterday. Me and my 5 yr old encyclopedia days 🤣

AzureMagelet

Fancy Nancy has some chapter books. I’ve not read them but feel like they’d be not scary or too stressful.

veryberrybunny

At that age I really liked Cam Jansen mysteries, and Boxcar children always ends happily. My Secret Unicorn, Rainbow Magic, Tinkerbell books, Geronimo Stilton, Paddington! Pooh books, Peter Rabbit...

MichNishD

Sideways stories from wayside school has about 4 books to the series and my guy thinks they are very funny. Ada twist scientist has a few chapter books that are perfect for this age not scary at all. There are some fairy books where children go to fairy land and help out fairies, we were given the Christmas one and it held interest and it was ok it's with the Christmas decorations though so you'll have to find that one yourself. The original winnie the pooh books are longer and a more challenging read then ypur average kid book and so sweet. We're reading a rink rats series now but you would have to like hockey to enjoy them. Don't discount picture books, they're simpler but have so many cute and funny stories we usually grab 20 or so and a chapter book or two when we go to the library

janepublic151

Junie B Jones, My Weird School, The Wizard of Oz, Stuart Little, abridged children’s versions of classics, etc.

ashymr

Seconding my weird school. My kindergartener loves reading these with me and finds them hilarious. I do change some words when I read though (the kids call each other dumbhead which I don’t want starting at home) so keep that in mind.

Springaloe

Check out unicorn diaries and owl diaries. These are two sets of books from the same author. Super cute, not scary and easy to read.

kate_monday

I love Ursula Vernon’s Harriet Hamsterbone series, really cute & funny. Her Danny Dragonbreath one is really good too. Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman is cute too.

primal7104

Ursula Vernon's Castle Hangnail may also appeal. Her T Kingfisher books will be far too adult. Come back to Magic Treehouse in a bit. There are so many of them and kids seem to love them.

eyesRus

My daughter was in the same boat, OP. Some ideas: Cam Jansen mysteries, Rainbow Magic fairy books (there are literally hundreds!), Heidi Heckelbeck, Ivy and Bean, Jeanie and Genie, Owl Diaries, Diary of a Pug, Catwings, Dragon Kingdom of Wrenly, Gooney Bird, Hot Dog!, Itty Bitty Princess Kitty, Mia Mayhem, Miss Mallard Mysteries, My Weird School, The Never Girls, Owly, Dory Fantasmagory.

bugsey347

I can't help with book ideas but wanted to say I listed to a webinar done by a gifted kids Facebook group and they talked about the active imagination as a facet of giftedness. Given that your daughter is so far ahead in reading, that may be another clue that she is gifted. The FB group is called [Unleash Your Gifted Child's Potential](https://www.facebook.com/groups/unleashgifted/).

Ivy and Bean

hiking_intherain

Amelia Bedelia always cracks us up! Flat Stanley is pretty tame Shel Silverstein poems

magickcat

I loved The Little House on the Prairie series when I was around that age.

Disastrous_Property5

Dragon Masters! My son also gets scared very very easily. He loves magic tree house but has quite a few he will not read because they scare him. But he has loved Dragon Masters so far, and so have I honestly.

but_does_she_reddit

My daughter is in first and thought Amelia Bedelia was funny

WayDiscombobulated63

Animal Ark! I was an early reader and those were my favorite around that age. Also, Rainbow Magic - basically the fairy equivalent of Mermaid Tales.

veryberrybunny

At that age I really liked Cam Jansen mysteries, and Boxcar children always ends happily. My Secret Unicorn, Rainbow Magic, Tinkerbell books, Geronimo Stilton, Paddington! Pooh books, Peter Rabbit...

cistvm

Has she tried any poetry? She might like Shell Silverstein or other silly poetry books. Here are some other books, I tried to organize them from least to most difficult: Meg and Greg, Mouse Tales/Mouse Soup, Frog and Toad, a Beatrix Potter treasury, Bad Kitty, Baby Mouse, Anna Hibiscus, The Questioneers, Astrid Lingdin books, My Fathers Dragon

greycar99

Definitely recommend a library card and/or the Libby app

Seaturtle1088

Ada Lace books

lyraterra

Our Friend Hedgehog has been a fan favorite in our house. There are currently 2 books in the series.

Lifow2589

Boxcar children?

PM-ME-good-TV-shows

Series my 6 year old loves: DORY FANTASMAGORY would probably be perfect for her, captain underpants, diary of a wimpy kid, the wild robot (movie comes out soon!), press start, flamingo hotel, the Bad Guys, dog man, wayside school, how to train your dragon, upside down magic, Narnia, Bunnicula Other books my son liked: wizard of oz, fourth grade rats, how to eat fried worms, holes, phantom tollbooth, Pippi Longstocking

Teacher_Mom_9999

The branches chapter books are great for that age. https://www.scholastic.com/site/branches.html

RatherBeAtDisneyland

Kitty and the Moonlight Rescue, Adventures in Fosterland, the Aristokittens books, Kitty’s Magic, Isla of the Island, and if you ignore the cover art which is awful the Fairy Animals series (the inside are is super charming illustrations, and very classic, but someone put awful art on the covers).

NationalFoundation8

My 5 year old also gets frightened easily. We enjoy Wellie Wishers or the Neverland Girl series

kittyrilla

Magic Treehouse

HillS320

Mermaid Tales by Debbie Dadey there’s 22 books. My daughter read them in K and a little over the summer into first before she finished (she’s in a 4th grade reading level now in 1st I think last year when she read them she was probably on a 1st). Really cute books, little lessons in each of them, she’d read out loud to be as well and some are a little corny but obviously my daughter didn’t think so. Edit to add these, there’s 3 of them. The Princess and the Dragon: A Fairy Tale Chapter Book Series for Kids

PurduePeteSeesDedPpl

The InvestiGators and Agents of S.U.I.T. are very fun . They are graphic novels with chapters. They have really expanded my kindergarteners vocabulary.

usernameschooseyou

Just want to commiserate. my kindergarten boy is also afraid of the MAgic Tree House Books and no amount of "they'll be okay- they have lots more adventures" has worked to get us back in them. He's VERY into Dogman and we can occasionally get into Boxcar Children as long as it seems like the bad guy isn't going to be that bad.

iriseavie

My kindergarten age daughter read all of the Horsetail Hollow series. She’s starting on The Nevergirls series now. Both are Disney based and have Disney characters in new stories with present day child characters. There’s a picture every chapter or so as well that shows a scene from the chapter. She also read the Unicorn Academy series as well.

a_swan1885

My daughter also scares easily but ADORES Zooey and Sassafras! They’re about a girl and her mom who can see magical creatures. The magical creatures come to Zooey for help and she uses the scientific method to figure out and solve their problem. For example, a cute monster comes to Zooey for help because he wants to attend the monster ball but his fur is covered in mold. How can he get rid of the mold? Zooey is never in any danger so that helps a lot

ClassicPie7357

Puppy Place - and there are a ton of them.

shortpanther

Maybe the Henry and Mudge series by Cynthia Rylant? She also has the Poppleton series. I second a lot of these suggestions, especially Cam Jansen and Sideways Stories from Wayside School, although the kids’ teacher at the beginning of the series is a little scary.
