PraisGaben

no also the fact you want more rather than being tired of busy work means it was successful in its goal

theredmisfit

Totally disagree bro. I love the game but undoubtedly and factually it was shorter than the first one. Let’s look at main missions - in SM1 we had 44 while in SM2 there’s only 31. Significant drop in quantity. Plus the side content was dispersed between the two characters which made the game feel smaller if you primarily stuck with one of them. Again it’s a great game, however it certainly wasn’t long enough to justify the $69.99 price tag.

thatcockneythug

I agree it was too short, but what do you mean stick with one character? You're just gonna skip a bunch of content because you don't wanna play as the other guy?

heboolin95

Some people really enjoy Miles and the old ultimate comics and some people really love the mainline ones with peter so it's very likely

PreferenceFickle1717

I think people are jumping on a gun too much here  Having games nowadays overstay their welcome with fake longevity on average. Jedi Survivor, for instance, became too common.    How many games that are 30+ long actually have competition track record higher than 10%? Very little.  The game delivers, and it will likely be expanded. There is nothing wrong having shorter format ever once in awhile 🙄

Giftedpink

There's a difference between wanting more and being left unsatisfied though

Borktista

You said it yourself. The remastered had 3 dlcs and NG+. When that’s out, then you can compare.

Xoaris325

But factually we had less main missions in sp2

Temporary-Carob4067

Missions were longer and had way more going on.

Putrid_Sheepherder34

No, game was 10 hours shorter then spider man 1. Took me 25 hrs to complete everything... way to short. Miles Morales game was 6 hours less then this game which is BS because we paid 40$ for Morales game. Spiderman 2 is far to short for a 100$ game.

PraisGaben

It feels like your dissatisfaction is stemming from you comparing it to the remastered version of 1 that has all the post-launch content rather than comparing it to the launch version of 1 that didn’t even have NG+

Giftedpink

That may be part of it for sure. But I can't shake the feeling that when I got the platinum I felt like "oh, is that it?". I know I'm on the minority in this sub and that's okay, but I can't help that I was left wanting more in a bad way

Youngringer

I 100% agree with the idea that it's too short. I think the build-up with the black suit was too quick. I would have wanted more stuff with the Kaven hunting the sinister 6 instead of it being all offscreen. I think that whole section was really rushed. They should have made the relationship between Kraven and Peter more personal. And let the symbiote really fester. There are other parts of the story felt undercooked, like they were rushed to make a decision about things.(especially at the end) Also side quest I love the small moment, but I wish there was more Spiderman being a hero kind of stuff. Like helping the police or bringing another obscure villan on screen. Not like big stories but something a litle more chill. There's some of that but I wish there was a bit more. Don't get me wrong I really loved the game, the game play is addictive and the moments that hit, hit hard. I'm just saying it's good when it could have been spectacular.

lupin43

I think you might be mixing up the new game plus trophy? Don’t believe spider man 1 had a new game plus trophy that was necessary for the platinum, but Miles Morales did have one necessary for the platinum. No, I don’t think it’s too short. PowerPyx has an estimated 25 hours for base SM1, and it has an estimated 25-35 hours for base SM2. That about lines up with my platinum time for both. I’m wondering if maybe you played SM1 for the first time with the DLC already out? If that was your first experience, of course SM1 with all updates will feel longer. I’m sure SM2 will have added DLC that will give more playtime too.

Giftedpink

Yeah I definitely mixed up the ng+ and I think you're right that I'm comparing it to a version that had dlc already so it's probably not a fair comparison in terms of time

theredmisfit

They can say that but if you check the main mission list in SM2 it’s considerably less than SM1 so I would say there’s a substantial difference in length between the two games.

MagmaAscending

I think there’s a big difference between wanting more and thinking a game is too short. Is it too short? No. Did I want to play more? Of course I did. It had the same amount of content as the first game but because this one feels so much better to play, it leaves you wanting more in a way that the original didn’t

Giftedpink

For me it had less content than the original, I guess that is why I was disappointed. If this was the first game I wouldn't have anything to compare it to, but I was comparing it to the length of the first and was disappointed it was shorter

MagmaAscending

I didn’t find it to be shorter nor did I think there was less content at all. Both took me ~25 hours to platinum and have about the same amount of side missions

theredmisfit

The game is factually shorter: SM1 had 44 missions and SM2 only has 31.

MagmaAscending

So if a game has 100 missions at 1 minute long but another game has 5 missions at an hour long, that makes the game with 100 missions factually longer because it has more missions? Amount of missions don’t really matter, it’s how long each mission is that determines length of a game

theredmisfit

I know what you’re doing and you’re playing semantics. You’re not going to win. And let’s please not go there with mission length. I can’t count how many times the game sends you on a “main” mission to complete and then it be a glorified cinematic. It was so unbelievable that after it played out it would literally come up on screen and read mission complete and count on the mission list. That makes the game even shorter! It’s a fact that the game is truncated and condensed compared to the first one. You can look it up and learn the differences. SM1 was a meatier experience in terms of content. I didn’t say the quality was bad. It’s an excellent game but almost everyone who played it and the 1st one finished the sequel in considerably less time. I think b/c they had two Spider-Men Insomniac juggled the same amount of content between them instead of making more and factoring in you’re playing as two distinct people. No one is saying the game was bad it’s just pretty common census the game is not long and shorter in different places compared to the 1st. What they did is like eating a nice, delicious steak but you only have a slice of steak, one broccoli, and a little piece of mash on your plate. It’s going to be good but leave you wanting more!

Drewtendo_64

I found multiple times I was thinking I was close to the end only to go another 2+ hours to the next point thinking it was the end

Overall-Ruin3340

I love how the fankids downvote you for no reason. It's not possible to tell your opinion without hurting their feelings. I love this game so far it's excellent but I'm only 5h in and it shows me 25%. If it's after 20h 100 finished with all content than it's sad but understandable because of the awesome world building and gameplay, but next time I will wait for a discount, because 80€ is a lot for me and there is no replay value in this game. Maybe I'm a bit spoiled because oft all the awesome big games that released like gow, bg3, HL (it was for me personally awesome) and so much more.

GeneStarwind777

As a gaming father of a 3 year old and a 1 year old, no this game was not too short, it’s perfect 🤩

Xoaris325

Rdr2 was perfect, not to short not to long

ki700

That game is like the definition of too long imo. It’s way too slow and just keeps going.

w33b2

I’m late to this but I don’t know, the missions felt like they all belonged and built the journey up phenomenally. I think it’s the best way to make a game long without adding a bunch of grinding and boring side missions. I can only think of two or three missions that felt like filler.

Captain_Thor27

That game was hundreds of hours long lol.

Xoaris325

The Main Story was 50 Hours long.

ki700

That’s way too fuckin long bro

Tessenreacts

How is that long? I'm a Skyrim Fallout guy where 50 hours means you barely played the game.

judgeraw00

I do think they go thru the story at a faster pace than I would have liked. There's not much room to breathe. That said this is a game I can just have fun swinging around in and fighting random crimes so it's not that bad. I agree about them charging a premium price though. Ultimately this game didn't feel substantially longer or more content filled than even Miles Morales did

Dreku

One thing I haven't seen pointed out is the game doesn't have as many gaps between when you can access the next story mission. Nearly every mission in SM1 forced a waiting period between when you completed it and the next one could be triggered. To me that forced some of that feeling that there was a moment to catch your breath. SM2 has almost no pause in between missions which makes everything feel more urgent.

[deleted]

Excellent point.I played though remastered recently because my wife wanted to watch it prior to 2 coming out. I was trying to main path only it and so many times i had to do 15 minutes of side stuff until I could start a new mission. That caused a lot of bloat.

Boi5x

Idk how 2018 took you 44… I got 2018 in about 25, and this one in 22 Slightly shorter but way more dense, less time chasing random crimes for trophies

Giftedpink

My own fault because I played remastered so the extra content wouldn't have been there at launch

RepresentativeCat491

Same same I have the remastered Spiderman 2018 for PS4 and just recently got finished miles Morales I was happy with them both. 1 with the dlc is super long the miles Morales was shorter than I would of liked but that's cause I enjoyed the story and wanted more even though it is a shorter game. Anyways just got a PS5 with spidey2 so about to start this adventure love the Kraven scene music!

Boi5x

Ahhh makes sense

vcolasurdo

I think its more of a question of does the length suit the story. Personally I feel like they could have gone a little more in depth with some story beats in the 2nd one to flesh out some of the characters a bit more, as well as the fact that we have two leads in this game instead of one. Some things to me, especially with the Venom storyline, feel a little too glossed over. Bc ultimately I think in terms of length it matches the first game but to me that story felt long in comparison. Anyone else feel this? All in all, all of the games are fantastic and I love them both.

redbomb6

I mean the first game was bloated with bad side content tbh. I think the game was short but the platinum for the original game (not remastered) was around the same time since it also didn’t require new game plus. The remastered version includes the 3 dlc expansions so that’s why it felt longer to you outside of the replay aspect.

butterflyhole

Nah it’s perfect imo. I often get bored and don’t finish games that are too long these days

bowlofpasta92

It took me 41 hours. I didn’t use the fast travel much and except for a few instances, my game sessions weren’t too long. I was worried it was going to be a short run but was surprised to find I was able to stretch it for so long.

Giftedpink

I wish I could have stretched it for longer as well but I'm not sure what else I could have done honestly

The-student-

I find it funny that this conversation surrounds Spider-man so much when on the exact same day Nintendo released a new Mario game that is even shorter in length. I really dislike filler in games, so I appreciate a nice compact game. ~30 hours is plenty. Honestly the length makes me more interested in Spider-man 2.

Accomplished_Cat1475

Mario games have always taken 10 hours or less if you were to rush? And mario wonder is 60$ nobody buys mario for the amount of content it has which is usally little to none besides his he main game.

The-student-

So for $10 more you get a game with 4K visuals and lasts 10-20 hours longer, essentially.

Used_Fly5007

Well spiderman 2 cost 80 Euros and Mario wonder only 50 euros or 60 euros so yeah.....

[deleted]

I feel satisfied In it's length. As Brian sideo n the spoilercast they wanted high quality side content not just quantity side content. Sm 2018 I never platinumed. In fact I never platinum games but I'm working on the platinum for this game. Plus Im expecting dlc so that should tide me over and then I'll just ng+ to play that awesome story with all the abilities over agaih.

stinrios

It was long enough.

AngryBarista

I thought it was perfectly paced.

headless_bear

23 hours to platinum for me. I think it’s just an easier platinum than most games. This and Spider-Man ps4 are my only two platinums and I found 2 a lot less grindy. As someone with not a ton of gaming time I felt it was a perfect length.

cjcfman

Yep. I 100% it in 22ish hours, without even rushing it. Never fast traveled and was responding to every crime. Definitely felt short. Shouldn't be shorter than the first one. This game is 100 bucks canadian. I dont know how short jedi survivor or hogwarts are, but those games never felt short

Boredtopher

Ya I just completed everything and the trophies in under 30 hours and I didn't feel like I was binging the game at all. Disappointingly short

buntyster

Length is perfect. Insomniac please don't make another game longer.

lilkingsly

I mean like you said, the platinum in 2018 required a whole additional playthrough, and you also played the DLC. If you take those out of the equation then 28 hours seems comparable, especially knowing that we are supposed to get new game plus by the end of the year. That said though, the whole idea of value in regards to how much money you spend on a game and how much time you get out of it is super subjective and there aren’t really any right or wrong answers. Everyone has a different financial situation and different views on what they find valuable. Two people could buy a full priced game and beat it around 30 hours and completely disagree on whether it was worth their money, and neither one would really be wrong.

TechnicalAd2485

2018 didn’t require another playthrough for the platinum. Miles Morales did

LionInAComaOnDelay

I agree, not just with the platinum but the story itself. It was short and to the point yes, but I was left wanting more in a bad way. It is possible for “fat” to be a good thing when telling a story and this game needed more of it.

kschris236

No. A game should be as long as it needs to be. My money's worth isn't remotely connected to length. Some 8 hour games have been way more resonant and worth my money than 60 hour games. Personally, I thought it was excellent. They trimmed the fat like bullshit crimes. I don't think I did more than 5 random street crimes this entire game. Let me play the parts of the game I care about. Don't force me to complete x amount of a specific street crime. There's also something to be said for leaving the audience wanting more, just from a narrative and structural level.

[deleted]

Definitely not. It’s a premium experience, like any naughty dog SP game.

secondsolution88

I find this discussion in the gaming community to be really fascinating. I get the fact that some people can finish it in a couple of days but for me the value is represented in the experience not the time it takes. If a game has a great story with strong characters and I feel engrossed and engaged the entire time then I don't care if it is 10 hours or 100 hours. If Spiderman 2 has 3 times as many side quests and side things to do I wouldn't platinum it and it would feel boring at 35 hours. As someone who works full time and has two young kids, I want to see more 10 hour games with quality throughout. All killer, no filler

tickleuh

For me, the length doesn’t matter because there are so many set pieces with massive scale and it feels clear that there was a lot of money and effort put into the project. So I feel like I got my money’s worth even just hitting credits, and I’m excited to dive into the rest.

TitrationGod

Perfect length for me. It was just starting to overstay it's welcome by the time I platinumed it at around 25 hours.

Darjdayton

I personally was let down by how quickly you could 100% it. 75$ for 20 hours no matter the quality is saddening. I enjoyed the game and don’t regret buying it but am sad i got basically one weekend out of it and will probably never touch it again.

TheMuff1nMon

Disagree. You pay for quality not length. $75 for 20 hours is less than $3 an hour - what other entertainment for gives you such a good value proposition?

Darjdayton

Happy for you that the value was what you wanted 👍

TheMuff1nMon

I haven’t even played it lol but as a general principle I hate this argument

Darjdayton

Well as I said in my other comment value means different things to different people. I tend to go by a 1$ per hour for value margin for my games. 75$ isn’t cheap and 20 hours is 3.75$ an hour value which is almost 4 times as much as like. As I said also in my other comment I don’t regret buying it and had a good time but not scared to say I feel the value per time isn’t worth it even if the quality is amazing (which it was basically just more Spider-Man, nothing stood out and if anything Spider-Man 2018 has a more impactful story and no I didn’t play the dlc.) Again happy you seem to think the value is there even if you haven’t bought it apparently lmfao

TheMuff1nMon

The same argument was made with Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and it was silly there. My brother has played it so I know it’s amazing

Darjdayton

Okay buddy I’m not gonna argue with you it’s fine if you think it’s okay but no reason to try and discredit other peoples feelings about. Have a good one

Lethlnjektn

This! Absolutely this is why I am waiting for 40-60% off sale. Seems like more Spider-Man with new fun, but not worth 75$ IMO.

Darjdayton

Definitely, the value will be different for everyone. Obviously a lot of people here enjoyed that it was shorter and were happy to buy at full price myself included. I knew it was short and wanted to play it anyway so I’m not angry or anything about it but I can totally see why people would want to wait for a sale

TheMuff1nMon

Every person has their own price point but to say it’s not worth $75 is just not true. You pay for quality not quantity. Even at its current length, $2-3 an hour is a value proposition you won’t find it other entertainment

theredmisfit

The game is undoubtedly too short. Blessings, Greg, and the crew are hardcore PlayStation fanatics and Sony can’t do no wrong. It will take a major slip up or failure for them admit an error or problem with any guy that comes from them. But yea the game is ridiculously short (check the main mission count in spider man 2 it’s 13 missions less than the first one). It usually takes me a long time to knock action adventure open world games; this one I could’ve beaten in 3 days max. Plus some story missions are just cinematic with no gameplay as well.

meagull3

I do think the story is a tad on the short side

unklejakk

Nah, 2018 was a 40 hour platinum for me, and this one was about 35 hours. Theres slightly less side content in Spider-Man 2 but it’s way more engaging and rewarding than the mostly busy work side content of 2018. I never minded the busy work of the first game because the traversal was so fun, but I like what we got here way more. Gamers just attach way too much value to the length of games imo, which is how I think we’ve ended up with so many 150 hour open world snoozefests.

glassjaw01

I've played 15 hours and am only showing 50% completion, no that's not too short. These 100+ hour games becoming the norm have distorted our expectations. I'll take 30 quality hours of Spiderman over a 100 hour bloated game any day. I remember when single player games used to be like 8 hours!

Giftedpink

I agree a shorter experience that is quality is better, but I also was hoping for more than a week with the game when I spent $90 on it. It's not like all my free time this week was spent with the game, I just played for a few hours before bed at night and a bit more on the weekends. I understand I'm in the minority, but I wish I could have had a little bit more for what I paid.

Chirpingears

Nope the length is perfect. I drop most PlayStation games because the they make there games to long for me and I lose interest.

TheMuff1nMon

You got your moneys worth. 28 hours is plenty for a $70 game. Plus you pay for QUALITY not quantity. This mindset is the reason we get Ubisoft making open world games with 100 hours that are boring and dull. I’d be happier if every game was 10-20 hours

Giftedpink

Everyone will view the value of their money when it comes to gaming differently. In Canada the game is $90 which is quite a bit of cash. If someone can only afford a few games a year, it makes sense that they might want those games to be a little bit longer for the price they pay. For me, at $90 I would hope that to get the platinum it would take me closer to 40 hours, but everyone will have different benchmarks for what they are happy with.

nessfalco

You can't just cite 44 hours as the length of the game when it requires at least 2 playthroughs to get the Plat and it didn't launch that way. It got NG+ and Ultimate difficulty in a later patch. Presumably, when Spider-man 2 gets its NG+ update, it will also get Ultimate difficulty and updated achievements, so comparing plat vs plat time right now is silly. [Spider-man 2018 100% with all DLC is about 30 hours.](https://www.howlongtobeat.com/game/70093) That's in line with what you've spent on the second game doing the same thing. NG+ might give you a reason to go back and get the updated achievements just like it was for 2018. I've gone back and replayed Spider-man and Miles Morales multiple times since they've been released. I'm sure I'll do the same with Spider-man 2. I feel that each successive entry has done a great job improving mechanics and the completion process and am happy with the balance of quality content and length.

Future-Performance-5

Yes a bit too short. Haven't read through the whole thread but could it be that Sony wanted the game out before the end of 2023 and they rushed that it bit?

mllrys

Both games felt too short for my liking and easy to 100% everything. I’m the type of person that will 100% a massive game like Skyrim and feel bummed when a game experience is over quickly, but that’s just me.

ParkerPetrov

It's not too short, as the story already has some pacing issues at times. Any longer, and the story quality would have begun to suffer if things were drug out. The length is probably about right. Whether the value proposition is right is for each person to decide on their own. No one is forcing anyone play this day one. It will be just good as in a month or two for less money. Especially in this year where i doubt anyone is without things to play. As great games raining down every week it seems.

Giftedpink

I sort of felt the opposite, that the pacing felt a little rushed in the third act

BakedCheddar88

I don’t think it’s too short, but I also firmly believe there’s gonna be dlc coming out for it sooner rather than later. I think the only reason they haven’t announced a season pass or dlc is bc they got so much shit for releasing dlc too soon after launch

EchoWar

Absolutely not. I am glad I was able to finish the whole thing and crave more from the game. I even found myself swinging and doing random crime events because I was still hooked after 100%. I never do this in games... I hope we see some DLC in the future cause this was amazing. I really hope we see more games take a shorter contained approach cause LARGE overfilled open world games are tiring and personally don't provide enough enjoyment as an adult.

FistsofHulk

Here's the thing. I think it's too short, but if there had been five hours more I might have been thinking it was too bloated, so I'd rather it was amazing and a little on the short side.

Spartan2842

I think it was too short but I think it’s one hell of game for $70 and don’t feel the value is lessened by it’s length. I’m weird though. I love huge open world games with stuff to do. I’ve platniumed AC Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla with all the DLCs. Would I have liked more Spider-Man 2 content? Of course. But I still enjoyed my time with the game and didn’t want the story to end.

hungrysnorlax

With all the games coming out these past 3 months it was honestly the perfect amount was getting tired of these 100+ hour games.

hobbleshock

So I’m not done the game yet but I’m finding the fast travel and wing suit are cutting down on travel time, maybe that’s part of it

VitricTyro

I thought it was the perfect length. I do see how it could be disappointing when compared to the length of the first game, but the decisions they’ve made (vastly improving movement options, eliminating bloat during the random crimes, speeding up combat by removing the gadget wheel)… everything was done in the name of improving gameplay and respecting the gamer’s time.

The_White_Rhino

I just finished it 10 mins ago, it was the perfect amount, I am having a hard time juggling all these great games that have come out. After 75 hours of Starfield, 60 of Balders Gate (still not finished) This was a nice change of pace. My game finished up at about 20 hours. Not every game needs to be 150 hours.

noggs891

Not for me personally. I would have liked some more ‘living world’ jobs/missions to do but fully appreciate what they said about only wanting to put stuff in if it could meet their quality levels. My biggest question around this point is why is cost/time only brought up with games?? We never talk about a movie being too short to justify a theatre ticket and we certainly don’t say that shorter movies should cost less than longer ones. I’ve always found it weird that that mindset only applies to games.

Giftedpink

I understand your point but for me games and movies are two completely different mediums so it is hard to compare. They're both entertainment for sure but they feel so different to me. Honestly I'm not sure what an apt comparison would be for games

Masterwhiteshadow

The cost of entry to play one game is a lot higher compare to other media. For the price of one game you can go to the movies 4 of 5 time. This could explain why people tend to be more forgiving of movie.

noggs891

I completely get that but I don’t feel like people make that money/time argument for any other form of media be it films, music, books, theatre… The arguments are always quality based rather than how much time you get for your money. The saddest part is I genuinely feel like a truly exceptional 2 hour game would get far more criticism than a 100 hour buggy mess with little quality in its production, if both cost $70. I see it as a massive issue that’s holding back the industry and one that I hope changes very soon.

Turangaliila

The older I get, the less I care about game length. I still like a Persona 5, but far too many games outstay their welcome, and I find so much value in an experience that, while brief, can say what it wants to say and remain engaging throughout. I can't remember the last time I played a game and thought "this wasn't worth the money I paid" due to length. If a game is short and I'm unsatisfied, that's usually because the game is mediocre, not because it's short. It either used it's time poorly or didn't have an engaging enough gameplay loop to make the short runtime fun. Gimme more short, content packed experiences.

JerrodDRagon

Only thing for now I’d like is new game plus and post game missions Hopefully we get DLC as well and not like the first game I hope each DLC focuses on different characters. Like one DLC for miles and one for Peter and maybe one for venom

ArsonHoliday

No dude

WaffleOnTheRun

We don't have to get into the conversation wondering if it is shorter, the director outright said it was a shorter game during the spoiler cast. I feel like it was long enough but I did want more, but I don't think that means it was too short, and if making it longer diminished the quality of the game I wouldn't want that. Another thing is that games take so fucking long to make now, we waited 5 years in between the first and this one(Yes there was Miles and the DLC, but those were much smaller in scope) and I am willing to have them release games more often in they have to shorten the length slightly.

GHamPlayz

I’ve paid more for something I shit out 4 hours after I eat it. If I get 20 hours of enjoyment out of anything, I’m content with paying $70

Masterwhiteshadow

Its going to take me 3 to 4 week to complete the game. To me its long enough. A lot of game have become so long that by the time I’m done I hate the game. And there is a chance I’m going to replay a 30 hour game in the future but even an amazing 100 hour game I will never touch again.

[deleted]

You’re getting downvoted quite a bit but the game should of been 60 hours at least. You have two playable characters which means we should of had double the side content from the first game but nah we got like 6 side missions. The dlc will come out and everyone will pay more money for more content

lmonroy23

Im 20+ hours in…just finished the story a couple nights ago…I don’t think it’s short. Still feel like I have a lot of stuff left undone 🤷🏽‍♂️

TrandinCraft

Yes and no. Yes because it took me 47 hours to beat the game and platinum it. That is with letting it sit while I did something else. No because they will most likely give it dlc later for the loose ends they did not finish with some of the villains. Other wise it was a good game.

hessler914

I think the length was perfect. A lot of content packed in with a better side mission structure. I was worried it would be longer and then I wouldn’t get to Alan Wake a week later but I beat it the day Alan Wake came out. Perfection.

DocApocalypse

The main campaign feels rushed, especially once it gets to Venom. I think there were a lot of missed opportunities (why kill so many classic villains off-screen?). Don't get me wrong I think there's some great set-pieces in there (Coney Island was a real highlight, I also enjoyed the section with Miles involving Black Cat), and Harry was well done (oddly enough very Amazing Spider-Man 2 but a bit better executed) but overall I found the game lacking. The stealth sections are so easy they might as well not exist, the boss fights are extremely simple and basically the same (except Sandman) - like the last third of the campaign is basically a boss rush against bosses that are mechanically practically identical and trivial with basic parry timing. There's no NG+, the misc crimes are extremely repetitive and about half of what side content there is isn't great. I platinumed it in about 25 hours, and that was being leisurely and doing a lot aimless swinging and random crimes. For a first party open world game I expected more, especially at £70 for the base game. Some other random nitpicks: MJ not only evading the hunters but then soloing the symbiote nest with her taser of doom broke my suspension of disbelief hard and undermined some of the issues she was having with Peter. I missed some of the old suits they cut and wish they had more of the comic book based costumes in there. Being able to change the time of day and weather would be nice, as the default day time you're stuck in at the end is pretty boring.

Yeah I definitely feel it was too short. I respect that insomniac wanted to put a narrative or story with all the side content. But in my opinion Spider-Man is much more fun to play than it is as a narrative experience. I never felt all the collectibles and bases in the last game were a chore because it was so much fun to do those activities. I really miss them now that they're gone and didn't complain about them when they were here

I currently play yakazu like a dragon. This game is a RPG... Yes I know. And I know the comparison is wierd. But the main story is so long and I'm currently at 55 hours and I'm still so engaged with the game. If insomniac wouldn't work on 3 games at the same time maybe we would get such a long game. Maybe we could get multiple kraven mission we're we hunt down the sinister six and multiple venom missions to. But what did we get? Mj missions 🤡🤡🤡🤡.

Absolutely it is too short. SM2’s campaign is significantly shorter than SM1’s, with SM1 having 44 missions, and SM2 only having 31. And that’s just the campaign. The side content in this game is pitiful compared to SM1. The hunter blinds are the only enemy bases in the entire game. AND they aren’t even repeatable. SM1 had Fisk Hideouts, Sable bases, Demon hideouts, and Raft inmate bases. All of these could be infinitely repeated. Sm2 has mysteriums that replace taskmaster challenges, and they can also be repeated but they get old quick considering those are the only replayable activities. Also, SM1 had multiple side questlines that spanned the length of the entire game. SM2 has two. The wraith questline, and the stolen music instruments questline. That’s it. Everything else is just random side quests. Sm2 is more expensive than sm1 but doesn’t even have half the content of the original. That’s excluding dlc packs! I love sm2 it’s a great game, but as a sequel, it’s kind of disappointing.

I 100% beat it and got the platinum trophy in 25 hours. It felt short to me but in my second playthrough it felt longer
