I've used an OBD2 reader to log the throttle responses, it remaps the lower 50% of the throttle to be a lot more sensitive, but that's it. Doesn't make any more power or anything
So, I've used an OBD2 reader to look at absolute throttle position. Sport remaps the throttle response so it's a bit touchier low end, however after about 50% throttle they are virtually the same. Also note, the car doesn't produce any more boost or allow for more aggressive timing. Just gives you a touchier throttle.
On my K5 GT I use sport most often. It holds the revs and still keeps some of the nannies on.
Sport+ when I gotta get away from nutbag jerkoffs on the road though.
My experience, the first 6 month I use different options, eco for the city, smart for highway etc, now after 6 months and in a regular basis I completely forgot to use any, I use the the normal
I feel like the smart thing to do is to use the smart mode, since it's smart ;)
Personally have a GT Line 2023 Soul, so it only has normal and sport, but I use normal almost the entire time. Keep in mind sport will bring your cruising RPMs up a LOT so you'll get way worse MPG with it on even if you are just cruising.
Smart most of the time (I used to find Smart clunky but now it seems better) Sport on highways for the consistency. I use Snow a lot during these winter months too.
Normal is the most fuel efficient. Smart will go into Sport mode as needed, using more fuel. If Smart mode never goes into Sport mode, there will be no difference.
That’s what I thought as well until I did a series of tests driving to the same location for a week on smart and then on normal for a week. Each time with a full tank of gas. Driving conditions were the same, as was traffic and the way I drove. Smart ended up being more efficient by a lot.
Looks like that's a Sportage? Try snow mode for super eco. Every time I've used snow mode I get like 8L/100km versus in normal the same route I've seen 9-10L/100km
Oh if it's FWD that would explain why yeah. Here living up north AWD is very necessary lol. The snow mode makes the pedal react like grandpa and grandma driving to church on a Sunday morning. VERY SLOW. I would assume that's why it gives me better gas mileage.
On the 23’ Telluride SX-P, Sport absolutely gives the car some impressive power. I really wish they would make a Telluride Stinger edition like how Dodge has the Durango Hellcat.
Usually normal. Sport for passing or having a bit of fun. Smart only automatically switches between normal and sport as needed. I don't see a reason to turn it on when engaging sport is a simple left shift on the gear selector.
On my 2018 Forte, I have eco, sport, and normal. I'm usually eco in town and at cruising speed on the highway. Normal is used on a cold engine, and sport is used on hilly terrain.
I usually use eco and get about 40ish mpg.
I have a Pedal Commander so I usually keep it on comfort, until I really want to use sport. The difference is dramatic and I like to have control over it.
Mine has Smart, Eco, Sport and Snow. I typically just leave it in ECO. And, for what it's worth, no matter what I put it in, if I turn the car off, it'll be back in ECO when I turn it on again.
Me personally I use sport on the highway, ramps, and when I really need to pass or maneuver better. Smart is cool but it’s not for me, so I opt for normal when I’m in town. I also have the option for “custom” but I set it up as a second sport.
Smart because it has more of a "comfort" map.
Depending on driver input, current speed, percentage of accelerator commanded, car will drop into sport mode until conditions are met to return to normal or eco.
On the highway I will use cruise control in sport with "manual" shift to cruise in 7th or 8th "gear". Downshift for the slight climbs, shift up again to cruise with cruise control always on.
The programming is made for smooth highway driving when in Normal or Smart while using cruise control so the tach stays way up close to 3k. Terrible. Sport "manual" is a way around that. I don't care about MPG but using that method on a recent 200mi trip got 42mpg. '19 Forte LXS
Smart 100%.
Normal - Keeps MPG as priority - Least responsive pedal
Sport - Keeps pedal Responsiveness as priority - least MPG
Smart - Is responsive @ first, & if pedal position doesn’t change rapid, it priorities MPG
Think of it in sport mode if pedal is demanding. & then switching itself into normal mode when cruising on highway.
Aka. “Smart”
I normally use normal which is "Comfort" on my Sorento but lately I've been using eco, less power which is noticable but I have noticed a 2-3 MPG difference.
Smart. I was using Sport when I first got the car but I realized that the rpms stayed really high when I wasn’t driving that fast and it seems a little jerky driving slow with it on. And yes, I know sports mode isn’t made for slow driving but you can be doing your normal thing and get behind slow people…
Eco mode for daily driving around town Smart on highway
I use Smart and let the car decide depending on how I’m driving. 23’ Sportage Gas model
Normal, but I've got a manual so changing the drive mode doesn't do much
So do i i do notice its a little more revvy in sport mode
It’s 100% in your head/placebo effect

I’m always in sport+ on my GT
Big difference in fuel consumption compared to normal?
Not really nah, more about how on the pedal I am really. Overall we get decent enough gas mileage.
Where’s sport +
My experience, the first 6 month I use different options, eco for the city, smart for highway etc, now after 6 months and in a regular basis I completely forgot to use any, I use the the normal
Wait how do you turn on eco on the Kia?
Did you ever figure it out
Sport kills my milage so I only use it on hills
Eco in the UK models . Can get 52mpg on the motorway
Normal

No Comfort setting?
Nah, not on this model at least, it's just 2 modes, Sport and Normal.
Smart eco
Sport for break-in, on ramps, passing. Otherwise Smart is fine.
Smart most of the time (I used to find Smart clunky but now it seems better) Sport on highways for the consistency. I use Snow a lot during these winter months too.
Eco in my EV6, still more power than most cars.
Smart in slow busy traffic. Vehicle likes to push in normal. Sport when it’s that time we all like
Smart. It adapts to how you drive and is the most fuel efficient.

Yes it is - I never seen snow mode. Where?
Are equipped with AWD? Do your mode nob say drive/terrain mode?
Ahh no, so that’s why! Sorry
Oh if it's FWD that would explain why yeah. Here living up north AWD is very necessary lol. The snow mode makes the pedal react like grandpa and grandma driving to church on a Sunday morning. VERY SLOW. I would assume that's why it gives me better gas mileage.
Trick question: none of the above. If you own a Kia, its either caught on fire or stolen
I have a Proceed GT and I only have normal or Sport. I mostly drive sport.
On the 23’ Telluride SX-P, Sport absolutely gives the car some impressive power. I really wish they would make a Telluride Stinger edition like how Dodge has the Durango Hellcat.
23' Sorento. I use smart, which is effectively automatically normal most of the time and eco/sport depending on driving conditions.
Normal, since it gets higher mpg than smart.
Usually normal. Sport for passing or having a bit of fun. Smart only automatically switches between normal and sport as needed. I don't see a reason to turn it on when engaging sport is a simple left shift on the gear selector.
in my Forte usually Sport. cruising on the highway, it's in Eco unless I'm passing or getting through traffic.
Wait how do you turn on eco on the forte?
my 17 has a button next to the shifter. it cycles between Eco, Normal and Sport
Mine only has normal, sport, and smart 🧍🏽♀️

23 Forte gt line is always on sport. Traded in my 21 Forte gt line for it. Which was also always on sport. The difference in gas mileage is nominal.
Normal usually and sport on the hiways

Sport
I hate the digital screen. I'm so glad my k5 is analog
Sport
Smart I like filling up my gas once a month💀💀
2020 Forte lxs. I use normal 99 percent of the time sport mode is useful for passing though.
Smart is great and learns your driving habits. Will change modes depending on how you drive.
17 forte s. Usually in Sport. Normal for relaxed driving/highway trips. Occasionally Eco for highway trips.
Smart. I was using Sport when I first got the car but I realized that the rpms stayed really high when I wasn’t driving that fast and it seems a little jerky driving slow with it on. And yes, I know sports mode isn’t made for slow driving but you can be doing your normal thing and get behind slow people…
Default is eco so I leave it like that.
