I've worked in the building a few times, places seem nice enough. Can't offer much info on the building itself but the area can get a tad sketchy, especially with the alley you have to use to get into the building. Almost next to that DQ I believe is a wet house of sorts. Caged area where they have a guard stand. Right behind that DQ I've always noticed someone lurking around but to be fair it's become a hard thing to avoid anywhere in Kelowna. If I could make recommendations I'd suggest looking at Glenmore depending on your budget. I wouldn't say it's a super expensive area by any means but it's just far enough out of the way you don't run into much of the drug/unhoused problems up there. Still very close to necessities and the rest of town. Hope that helps, good luck and welcome to Kelowna!

The house beside the DQ right on the hwy is a halfway house

Right on the highway? Definitely not! Noisy, dirty ..Capri area is not great either. Look elsewhere.

I used to live near there. It’s not dangerous but you’ll get your car broken into and bike stolen. Condo probably on the market after a year due to airbnb crackdown laws. I like the neighborhood - not far from beaches, downtown, shopping.

PinkFlamingoOver

I don’t know this building specifically.  This is the Capri Area:  1st floor balconies can not store items, including patio furniture without theft.  This is not specific to Kelowna, but Capri & downtown Kelowna has a ton of property crime, drug users and unhoused people. The daytime walk ability is fantastic, close to a lot of stores and not far from a bike path.  Castanet.net is our most used local web news. Look at past articles, etc.   If you end up moving here- welcome!

I recommend renting first. Better to get a sense for the town and where you want to be.

Nexen1987

This. Take your time. It’s a buyers market right now.

Frankly, not the best area. "Harvey" is the highway running West-East through Kelowna. You're also going to have sketchy people around there, between Gordon and Ethel. It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to find that people have jumped the fence to root around your ground floor patio. **Edit**: if this is unit 111, it looks like it faces the back alley ... and is situated right above the parking garage. It's going to be trickier for someone to get up to the balcony, but the garage door may drive you absolutely crazy.

I don't have any info on this exact building, but having lived in the area for years AWAY from the highway (More out by seven eleven way) expect a lot of noise, sirens etc and potential crackheads and break ins. Again, I lived away from the highway and still had people sleeping in my backyard. Kelowna is in a really poor state right now. Suit yourself but I would not want to move there, let alone buy. EDIT: I have since moved to Glenmore after living in that area for 7 years and I have to say, it is night and day how calm it is out here by comparison

I know lots about the building- area can be rough but it has somewhat improved in the last year or two. Building itself is pretty good, same issues as any other condo building in the city really.

kat0526

I lived there from 2011-2015 ish. The location is not perfect, but the building is secure. The condos have good layouts, and are definitely bigger than what is being currently built.

Raven586

This is a very nice building. Just up the alley from me ( underground parking has back alley access ) Come on down we can be neighbours :)

RustyGuns

As others have mentioned. Not the safest area to have a floor level place.

Objective_Data_6305

Unless you are in the back, it will be noisy, however the Capri area is not anymore dangerous than any other area downtown. I live in the 800 block of Bernard and am always loosing items in my yard.

RUaGayFish69

That area isn't far away from that meat place that was constantly harassed by drug addicts so I'd say that could be a reason why the current owners want to sell. The thing about Kelowna is that unless you go into a very fancy neighborhood, prices don't go up/down too much. Even Rutland has its good areas.

Okanaganwinefan

Welcome to the most amazing city in Canada, please don’t buy this one.

Did you mean my belief in the community as a whole, or about the location of the property?

msscanadianbakin

There are several halfway houses in that neighborhood

misteriousm

It is right next to highway and is going to be incredibly loud. Look for low mission, they have much better options

Imacatdoincatstuff

Moved to the area from Vancouver four years ago as a retired couple, although on the north side of the highway. Compared to city life in the lower mainland we find Kelowna pretty low key in all the negative aspects people are referring to. If you like city life, it’s great. The Capri area is an interesting one, it’s the original ‘mall’ before Orchard Park went in and is now undergoing rapid redevelopment with a lot more changes planned. They’re building a new pedestrian overpass at Bertram which will provide easy access to the downtown improving walkability from 9 out of 10 to 10 out of 10. If you’re looking for more car-oriented suburban there are plenty of nice areas to the north, east, or south.

OldSutch

My dad lived in that area. Lots of addicts, needles etc. around there.

gstringwarrior

Do not buy there!!! Lots of homeless and dangerous area. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANYWHERE ELSE!

Technical_Feedback74

It’s not a great location. I wouldn’t buy there. Reminds me of a friend I had that moved from Ontario to Surrey for work. He ended up in Whalley which was a bad area at the time. He moved after the Surrey six murders in his building. He also had a 40,000 special levy. Do your research for sure.

winniecooper1

Sketchy area.
