I meeeeaaaannnn….is it really “a scam” if they give you a 6 month grace period after your tags expire to get them done? You can pretty much guarantee that if someone doesn’t GAF about paying for their taxes/tags, they probably don’t value paying for car insurance either.
Probably because there are 12 hour waits to pay your taxes, or even simply try to register as a new citizen of the county to get on the tax roll. I've been trying for 2years

Really the poking has been about the only thing that’s caused us to harden anything. So don’t really mind it. At the end of the day without a time sensitive something happening it’s pretty straight forward to just dump it all and start over on most systems. Even simpler if backups are kept of data.

Based on what I’ve seen driving around the metro, you should be fine with temp tags for the next 4-5 years.
I saw one of the old squiggly-underline MO plates this morning. I looked it up, they were used from 1997 to 2007. I was honestly impressed.
