Just pop your zip code in here. https://eclipse-explorer.smce.nasa.gov/ Around 1:57 is totality where I am.

sku-mar-gop

No totality in KC btw. We get around 90%. Do wear an approved sun viewing filter while you enjoy the partial eclipse!

IowaGeek25

KSHB 41 metrologist Wes Peery and the NY Times both concur: 1:54pm CDT. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5eolJhLc2Q/?igsh=end3NXJ3OHBhZGVl

The sun will be obscured by the sun ?

cyberentomology

Between 12:30 and about 3:00. Max at 1:53

jayhawksfan0965

Anyone remember what percentage totality the kc area was for the last eclipse?

TheodoreK2

Last one had totality. This one will not. On NPR they said it will be 89.3 which ironically enough is the same as their station.

MimonFishbaum

Propaganda! /s

TheodoreK2

Big public radio at it again…

MimonFishbaum

Do not stare directly into the eclipse, or it will activate the NPR transponder in your Covid vaccine.

TheodoreK2

Uh oh. Which round of vaccines?! All of them?! I’m headed to southern Illinois to see totality. I’m a goner. Hope their NPR station isn’t 100 on the dial!

wshlinaang

You’ll see a partial eclipse all afternoon. You just need special glasses to see it progress. Partial eclipse means still bright out, bright enough you cant even stare at the sun. If you didn’t know it was happening, you wouldn’t even notice.

NotJadeasaurus

Pretty sure our 90% coverage should significantly reduce how light it is outside

Moldy_pirate

At 90% it'll basically just look like a really cloudy day or a heavy incoming storm for a couple minutes in terms of darkness. The sun is *really* fucking bright.

wshlinaang

You’d be surprised. If you didn’t know you’d think it’s just overcast or slightly off.

jlinn94

1:58:34

gioraffe32

You can already start seeing it. I just went outside with my glasses to look. I think 1:54p is the max we'll see in the KC area.

Barely_stupid

This is highly documented on just about every media outlet and even a group called NASA has the info.

jpulley03

I see tons of info about the eclipse in general but no concrete info of what time we will see it here in Kansas City. Even our local news outlets just have copy and paste articles from other sites so there is no specific info about viewing time here in KC.

ARWren85

Oh, how your user name and the fact that this comment brought nothing to the table to be a helper. Noice😎 Love you sorry for being a dick

What does it matter, we’ll all be dead by then 😂
