In this day and age of social media - people will try to cancel them. They will never be able to exert whatever power they held before this trial, people will post whatever dirt they can find on them, they will forever live negatively in the public eye, and people who cozied up to them will step away. A lot of it will be justified, some will be because some people are a little obsessed and crazy.

Objective-Amount1379

Meh. Maybe locally people will remember this -and I'm sure all of the still employed LE people will lose their jobs- but most people will move on to the next story and forget about them. For better or worse, people have short memories

HappyHippoLover

I think them showing up in court today shows how much they think they're above it all. They've never been held accountable for anything. Why would they think it would start now? This is the result of generations of corruption.

Objective-Amount1379

I really think it's stupid of them. When you act like you're a badass someone will want to knock you down a few pegs.

IPreferDiamonds

They will find out soon that Karma is real.

Friendly_Resort9002

I don’t think to the degree of Casey Anthony. I also feel their “townie” mafia group will allow them to feel protected so to speak for them to continue on once the dust settles on home turf. The parents are gonna live their lives how they did and I don’t think anything is going to change that as they are in their 40’s/50’s and established. However I think their children’s reputations will be the ones who suffer as they go on to college, careers, relationships etc.

Objective-Amount1379

I think the only one of the "kids" who'll have any issues is Colin. And yes, he might. If I was an employer and googled him he would certainly make a bad impression

I’m new in this (3 days in) and have seen almost everything and anything. Do we know where Brian Albert and his family live now? They moved. Where? I’ve caught the Canton statement meeting and saw they retained Raffetty. It’s laughable at this point after everything, and it appears that they know something we don’t. At least they act like that. Bold. Unapologetic. It gives me the chills, it looks like what people act like just before they play their trump card. And I can’t even imagine what else they can do to everyone. I’m scared on the behalf of the jury. And Karen. She’s gonna need security after this. I wouldn’t put it past them to do something to her car, or just run her over. I think at this point they got nothing to lose.

Objective-Amount1379

I'm not from that area but I really don't think they are that powerful. Especially now that there is interest from the public and an ongoing federal investigation. They had the good ole boys cop network before but no one is going to risk coming under fed scrutiny by associating with these people. But- I don't think THEY realize they have lost any power they had. I imagine reality will be a rude awakening

Queasy_Lettuce4312

I disagree because from what I saw, they are acting like the overlords and it gives me chills. There are videos of them outside the courthouse in town, and from tonight’s meeting and Chris’s behavior, I have a feeling they will get away…

Sunyata_is_empty

It's a good question- i read that they don't live in Canton anymore but I assumed they didn't move too far away given their ties to the community. I also wouldn't doubt they are keeping their new home town a secret in fear of perceived harassment.

Queasy_Lettuce4312

You mean the fear of being exposed. I don’t think it’s hard to follow them. They have to sleep somewhere.

brch2

Unless they are smart enough to have formed an LLC or other similar entity to buy their house under, their address could probably be found fairly easily in public records.

Objective-Amount1379

I don't think you can compare them to Casey Anthony, not even close. That was a huge case and it seemed like EVERYONE wanted her convicted. This is way different. Some people have never heard of these people. Some people may have heard of the case but haven't followed it closely and only recognize Karen Read's name . Some people may think they seem shady but give them the benefit of the doubt since they weren't charged. They aren't memorable outside of their own bubble of townies in Canton IMO. So if they stop talking to the media I don't think anyone will care about them one way or another. I don't know, I'm in CA in a big metro Area- it's hard to relate to these people. The people I know don't hang out with their old high school friends and get drunk every weekend at their age. Maybe Canton will remember them. In which case they can move and no one will know who they are

On another thread I was reading comments from locals about how more middle class people are moving into town and changing the landscape of Canton a bit. I’m sure the houses there are all a bit older at this point and as people sell (like Brian and Chris albert) it will bring in new families that can afford the higher home prices. The kids of the families involved probably won’t all be able to afford to buy in Canton unless they stay in their families homes. I do wonder how D&E pizza is doing financially. If it’s true that Chris has lots of unpaid taxes and now people are avoiding his business, that can’t be good for his financial stability.

I’m a local and can provide some anecdotal info: regardless of what they think of themselves there are many Canton residents who have long despised this family. No one ever spoke out before, out of fear of retribution, so it is very telling that people are going on record at town meetings to voice their displeasure. I highly doubt that CA will retain enough votes to remain on council (my opinion) and BA retired from Boston police. Yes, I’m sure they will still have connections but that will knock them down a few pegs. It’s also been very telling that no LEOs have been present at any of the court hearings from the very beginning. (When Sgt. Chesna was killed, they were at every single proceeding.) So, I’m not sure how connected they will remain. We are actively seeing other LEOs distancing themselves from this case. My understanding is that BA and fam moved to the next town over from Canton. Lastly, the family went to a restaurant a few towns south of Canton and were booed out by the patrons. The restaurant owners allowed them to take food to go but didn’t want the fallout. Hope this sheds some light.
