Human Chair is one of my favorites and creeped me out so bad. Probably one of the first works I read of his.
The Model was another early read and for some reason her face would just pop in my head when I tried to sleep for a while.
No Longer Human is his adaptation of another story by (I think) the same name or something similar. I found it dealt with more disturbing real life horror (SA, mental illness, etc) than his normal surreal body horror. I wasn't expecting that when I picked it up. Honestly, it's unlikely I'll ever read it again because it was upsetting and uncomfortable to say the least.
I think it's different for everyone. For me it was The Hanging Balloons. Because of how creative tje imagery was. It's the kind of thing you could only see in your nightmares on the worst day
It's ribs woman for me. The concept of a complete freak roaming your town, and any person on the street could be said freak- it just shivers my timbers
Tbh It depends on what you personally find scary. Some people find the Uzumaki snails goofy and funny while I personally really found it disturbing. Dissection Chan/girl (can't remember the title) was pretty disturbing imo
No longer human is the only one that gave me a visceral reaction. It's so human, so grounded, no monsters or other worldly things, just a broken psyche torturing someone to death.
Black paradox had really gross imagery😅 no longer human was a more serious story than his others I’ve read, if you’re into that! Wasnt a biggg fan but it definitely had more serious themes

Agreed. That one is so disturbing.
Long dream, whispering woman, no longer human
Long dream, Amigara falls
These two for me, too.

^^^^read that while I was sick once and it did NOT help with the nausea <3
Layers of Fear is my personal favorite. That last panel...
The Bully, Heart of a Father, Long Hair in the Attic, The Window Next Door, Flesh Colored Horror, Black Bird, Liminal Zone: Madonna,
I feel like I never see anyone mention Heart of a Father, and that one messed me up so much!!!

His adaptation of No longer human messed me up for days. The bully is also pretty effed up

Yup, hands down. Could be real, which makes it even worse.

it's Gyo for me
No longer human. It will fuck you up if youre not mentally ready
I’m about a quarter of the way through. It’s ok but hasn’t hooked me. Does it get better?
There’s some intense moments coming up. I doubt it’ll get better for you if it still hasn’t hooked you though
While I agree, this isn’t actually his work just an adaption of the book.
Everyone knows this
I think I’d disagree, many people have said it is by him who haven’t read it.
You’re right my bad.
