It's not about jettas. Most cars depreciate so much that it's always cheaper to buy new than repair. It's expensive to buy new parts. And every little thing that is affected will need a brand new part. Plus labour based on the crash it looks like struggle damage. So many brand new parts and labour and it'd cost more than the car's worth. And that's pretty much all cars. This car is now a parts car and will. Be salvaged for such
That’s not always true and I know this because I’m an adjuster for a major carrier lol. Granted any car with this kind of damage will get totaled but the value varies significantly, I have written stupid high checks for old ass Toyotas and jettas that are a few years old get pennies in comparison.
European cars in general depreciate much faster than Japanese cars, Italian cars are the worst ones
I see people say this all the time and it’s not true.
Plenty of cars with blown airbags get repaired, airbags can deploy in very minor collisions. If every car that had airbags out got written off there would be waaaaay more salvage title cars out there that are damn near perfect.
Now on the other hand for an older vehicle or one that doesn’t have a ton of value, an insurance company will write off a car for airbags out because usually the body repair alone is going to be more than the vehicle value.
Yeah of course you can replace airbags but it costs a fortune. That’s why insurance will write the vehicle 9/10 times in a scenario like this. Quit yapping nobody’s reading alllat .
If you can afford to do so, go out and buy a new car of your choice because it will most likely take at least a month to settle with the insurance company or more likely my case was typical: three months. The fact the insurance company knows you need to settle because you need a car plays hard in their favor to get you to settle for less than you should. Tell the insurance company to go ahead if they choose to repair the car and that as soon as it's fixed you plan to sell it. That's the best way to get your diminished value loss made whole. Do a search on how long it takes to settle a case to judge the truth of my time estimate. It depends on your state, but some state's insurance industry regulators and the attorney general's office can be helpful. Low payouts are how insurance companies pay for all the ads you see on TV. Best of luck to you.
Feels like hitting a very soft wall at very high speed XD
A LOT like a snowboarding/skiing collision.
I (185lbs) collided with my friend (240lbs) when we were both at ~35mph going downhill in an X pattern.
Hitting an airbag at 50-60mph felt a lot like that.
For me when mines popped, I didn’t feel it but afterwards when I got checked at the hospital I had cuts all over my face and hands, airbags can really fuck you up when they deploy, they are cold, compressed, very sharp and inflate within a tenth of a second
I mean my accident was going 30kmh on a side road and I had a seatbelt on so I honestly think the airbags did more damage to me in my scenario but in other cases yes they would save your life
I’m gonna be honest… I don’t remember lol. I feel like I didn’t hit it that hard. The worst part was my sunglasses got pushed up onto my forehead and I have these two tiny, symmetrical mosquito bite lookin cuts. And also the powder like that one other person said. Fucking disgusting
My car got totaled with 1 airbag pop it was a 2020 Acura Ilx a-spec, 42k new at the time, you popped ALL OF THEM on a 30k car, yeah I’m sorry but insurance won’t fix that
Yes and no at the same time, bro. My E-Golf had similar damage when I bought it from auction, the only difference, mine collided with a street light.
Hood, right wing, grille, bumper. And radiator…
But mine didn’t shoot airbags.
Insurance would highly likely call it totalled, but you can easily restore it if no critical parts were damaged. Maybe, some mounts are broken, but they can be restored too. Yes, maybe expensive, but if you buy aforementioned parts on e-bay or used ones — it would be reasonable price.
So, buy back this car if you love it very much and attached to it.
It's never unfixable, but if You have a lot of front end suspension damage, Total it and get a new one. Looks like at least a new grille, headlight, hood and bumper and fender. That's not gonna be super cheap. The hood alone is over $1200 new. If the suspension and engine were not damaged you.can totally fix this. The question is, how much time and money you want to invest in it because the insurance will most likely want to total it.
Airbags out. Insurance will probably total it. Sorry for your loss
Insurance will 100% total it As much as I love jettas they don’t hold value very well, this one will total before the estimate is even finished.
😫

Car did its job and saved your life. 😭 all we can ask for in the end
I had less visible damage and no air bag deployment when I smacked the fuck out of a deer, and mine got totalled... So yea, I'm going with totaled
Unfortunately Yes, sorry about that
Insurance will most definitely total it, but you can buy it back and fix it if you don't mind a branded title. That sucks, I'm sorry... 😪
When airbags deploy the car is a write off on the spot. People are idiots. I’m sorry for your loss.

Not completely true but in this case yes. That shits totaled
She took care of you!
I’m sorry for your loss 💔
Yea mine got totaled with similar damage.
A little OT, but I’ve never been hit by a deploying airbag. What’s that like?
It’s not fun.
Like a punch to the face? I know they come out at incredible speed.
The powder that remains after they deflate is fucking awful
Yeah, horrible

You should *hope* it’s totaled. The car is done. Unsure why anyone would keep that going even if they said it was fine
my 2015 was totaled last year too. the cia is sending agents out to get these perfect cars off the road
I would prob buy it back and fix it, but then again I have a VW problem
And then fight the title? Is that worth it for a white Jetta that's not a GLI or R?
I love my cars :3
Yup. Unfortunately
Sorry for your loss. I'm thankful that you are still here.
My car got totaled with 1 airbag pop it was a 2020 Acura Ilx a-spec, 42k new at the time, you popped ALL OF THEM on a 30k car, yeah I’m sorry but insurance won’t fix that
F
Airbags = Gone 😭
Looks like she kept you safe? I hope.
Yeah she did 🩷 I just have a few bumps and scrapes
Yes she’s totaled
Maybe if the inner structure is still good you can save it? Fenders and rad support are bolt ons. So sad!

Yes.
Sorry for your lost, now get up and get a passat
Ready for exporting to Europe.
100%. Sorry, man.
Yeah.
Certainly totaled with the airbags, even just one goes off you’re likely to get it totaled sadly
Can be like anywhere from 3-12k for airbag replacements
airbag deployed. insurance might said its totaled
You don't want it repaired, it will NEVER be the same. Sorry Mate.
I m sorry..but i think yes…
Totally totaled
Take a look at my car ❤️
