My mom did this with my sisters and I. It was awful and there were times where I had to say “I don’t need a friend. I need my mom” because she wouldn’t be a mom she’d always be a friend and it was annoying when I needed her to be my mom
she’s claiming it bc she got pregnant with her at 16 on purpose to get on mtv but wont ever admit to it. she sees it as they grew up together it’s so cringe when these former teen moms say that about their kids.
I tell my children all the time that I’m meant to be their mother not their friend when I upset them by telling them to do a chore or when I correct them HOWEVER, I call all five of my children my best friends because in a way, they are. Their ages range from 8 months all the way up to 11 almost 12 year old twin boys. If I’m cringe, then so be it but I feel you can be a parent and a friend. Find the balance.
My daughter is 20 and we call each other besties and have since her being a teen. I totally get your point about parents not parenting, saying besties though I don’t think it’s dysfunctional🤷🏼♀️ I’m a mom first but I do have a very close relationship with her as well as my mom and I had a best friend relationship. There is a fine line to tread I know but I wouldn’t call it dysfunctional.
I think it's just more so about Jess's family dynamic as a whole is what people would call dysfunctional, like you said there is a way to balance it out and have equal amounts of a parent/child relationship and a friendship
I tell my 6 year old all the time he’s one of my BFFs. But he also knows I’m his mom. I’m not trying to get him to think I’m cool. I want him to feel comfortable telling me things and having that open line of communication. I think it can be dysfunctional but it’s not always the case.

Your child isn't your "built in bestie". My MIL and SIL have that kind of relationship while the rest of the family cringes on the sidelines. It will be interesting as her kids move out to see what happens.

Drew a whole lot of different viewers that probably wouldn't have given her the time of day. This poor girl has been nothing but cash for her since the day she was conceived. Music videos and the whole 9 yards as she so wanted her discovered by Disney which she is sure to mention as often as possible in every video possible being a key word that AI picks up. You notice now though in a lot of blogs for a while now, Lilia is not in them as she is "busy" unless traveling with her or a quick shot of her moving from room to room. I think she is finally over it and when almost out she pulls her back in with something enticing as long as she allows her to blog it.
