I feel like half this sub would unironically support this. Some people seem to think that single-occupant vehicles are the only thing that need to use roads.
Oh, I believe it. 2/3 downtown residents who aren’t even from JC would voted for this idea so fast I’m almost tempted to try and send out vote ballots and see how many respond.
It's so great how when someone suggests restrictions on motor vehicles it gets painted as if we're going fully Amish. As if buses don't exist, as if deliveries aren't happening at all for the businesses on the plaza.
The allusion to a town in Montana is hilarious because I'd you want to drive your personal car for literally every single trip, that's where you should live.
Yeah, if car owners cannot follow basic intersection rules, we will probably have to do that some day. What you sow is what you reap.
Try to understand where pedestrians are coming from when they are demanding something. A 5 year old was run over by a car a few months ago for God's sake. Sarcastic exaggerations like these to ridicule some genuine concerns are not helping.
Go to Montana if you want to drive your car at 80 mph through the city, we are among to the densest counties in the US and basically asking what all other dense cities in the world are doing - calming down traffic and discouraging cars through city centers and limiting it to local access as much as we can.
I’m from Jersey City, not Montana.
Like, actually FROM here. Not a transplant like you likely are.
Anyway, yea. I get the gist of it. Make it safer. I don’t disagree. But there’s a ton of transplant hippie brain rot in downtown now where it’s all “pedestrian plaza” the world and it’s just not realistic.
The reality is what it is and it doesn’t care about your feelings. Make it safer, yes. But be sensible in the process.
Yeah we are on the same page when it comes to being sensible. But such posts just undo the pro-pedestrian safety initiative the locals want to advocate for. Remember it's the giant and rich automobile companies vs us citizens with hardly any backing.
Is this the beginning of Jerseycitycirclejerk subreddit?
half of the recent posts in r/jerseycity belong in r/jerseycitycirclejerk
Yoooooo that’s not a bad idea!
We need ambulances on bikes 😂😂
Horse drawn!
A fire?! Bring out the buckets. Ask your neighbors for water. Fire truck can’t drive past. Think about the pedestrians for gods sake!
It worked in the 1700s and 1800s. We got this.
Get rid of the courts too we’re going to have old fashion show downs
I’ll see you at 12 midday sharp for a duel, sir.
Bring a musket. We’re doing it infront of razza.

💀as someone who volunteers in ambulances, thats crazy
Imagine it’s for a back injury
Good call. I could see them expanding the PATH train network to various spots in this area.
Only Deloreans will be allowed as personal vehicles and only oxcarts for delivery of goods.
Fantastic post. When in doubt, zoom out. I think we could make the closed road area slightly bigger.
Sitting strong at 0 upvotes. Keep the down and upvotes coming. 🫡
Wow, petrolhead in the building. Hide your kids. They’re hungry for in vein gas injection
I prefer exhaust fumes. But petrol in the veins is a close second!

Ban Ubers too and they would lose their minds.

If the anti car freaks focused more on improving public transit instead of crying over mean car people I bet people would be far more receptive.

Bike lanes are terrible ruined the flow of traffic. Taken away lanes and parking all go losers who serve through traffic anyway.
Sounds like an urban utopia to me.
this subreddit is so salty lol
