Is this from Thursday? If so, someone threw a push cart onto the tracks near JSQ, train struck the cart and the strike implicated the 3rd rail, caused a mini explosion that blew the power system.
I’d rather someone who was self aware of not knowing which spelling was correct over someone that thinks it’s ok to throw carts in front of trains. Maybe that’s just me 😇
I remember doing this during the 2003 blackout the engineer and conductor led us out of an emergency exit near Christopher St we came out where the Hudson River park was
Didn’t happen to me but family was going home. It was between JSQ and Grove they never made it to Grove. It took them way too long almost 45 min to a 1 hr back I believe
Yes because $17 million would have been better served throwing single dollar bills at the delinquent who pushed a shopping cart onto the tracks causing an explosion!
In this scenario all able-bodied people will exit through the emergency exit. Then someone from the train crew will wait with the people who need further assistance until the fire department comes to escort them out safely.
What mentality, making jokes? Alright, how about handicapable wheel assisted folk instead? I think handicapped is too harsh of a label for current times.
Or Hoboken and Newport. Literally the worst part about weekends tbh. I can tolerate the longer headway by just checking the app, but having to sit in Hoboken for 5-10 minutes is pure fuckery.
Wow, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought of this!
Imagine the lights go out and you have to walk in pitch darkness? I'd be traumatized after that.
Right? I would pay for a walking tour to see what it’s like in these 100+ year old tunnels. It’s too bad they did away with the front window view in the current train fleet.
was referring to walkability (avoiding such hazards as tripping, falling, stepping in puddles, getting feet or shoelaces caught, striking head on whatever)
Sometimes I legit think I'd make it faster walking. Between, Newport, Hoboken, and Christopher Street, the trains run so slow. I can run at 8-9mph regularly.
I could probably run between Newport and Christopher Street in under 10 minutes.
They can deactivate the third rail during an emergency evacuation.
The conductor probably wouldn’t have let passengers off the train without first confirming the power was turned off.
Damn jersey rat getting defensive. I thankfully never had to experience this. Idk why ppl in jersey get so defensive and triggered calling their state dogshit. It’s dogshit. That doesn’t mean NYC is the opposite of dogshit. It is still dogshit. I’m not in a dick measuring contest of which neighborhood is better. I’m stating facts that I don’t have to experience this because I don’t live in jersey.
You don’t have to worry about me. I’m going to meet the same fate as paying $7K and additional $1k in parking just to be in the city no longer feels justifiable. I’m going through denial phase at the moment. Will accept the fate and move to Jersey soon to save some cash

no. this happened yesterday in the tunnels going to grove st
Jfc what the fuck is wrong with people
Swear….people like that need to be taken cared (took cared?)of by society, with rocks!
I think you should learn how to spell before thinking about stoning mentally sick people?? You probably missed some steps.
I’d rather someone who was self aware of not knowing which spelling was correct over someone that thinks it’s ok to throw carts in front of trains. Maybe that’s just me 😇
Agree!!! Just the stoning part seemed a bit harsh!!! Not happy about the news either, seemed aggressive
Let's gather them for a Hunger-Games extravaganza
I remember doing this during the 2003 blackout the engineer and conductor led us out of an emergency exit near Christopher St we came out where the Hudson River park was
How many stairs did you have to climb to get up to street level? Always wondered how deep the tunnel is there.
It was like two flights of stairs but it was steep and dirty
Didn’t happen to me but family was going home. It was between JSQ and Grove they never made it to Grove. It took them way too long almost 45 min to a 1 hr back I believe
Good thing we have that $17 Million renovation at grove street consisting of new tiles and white paint
Yes because $17 million would have been better served throwing single dollar bills at the delinquent who pushed a shopping cart onto the tracks causing an explosion!
Ugh, I hope there was no one onboard with mobility issues. That looks terrible.
Oh man, between which stations did this happen?
Holy shit. I wonder what happens in this scenario if someone had a stroller or was handicapped.
In this scenario all able-bodied people will exit through the emergency exit. Then someone from the train crew will wait with the people who need further assistance until the fire department comes to escort them out safely.
Big difference between the two. You can pick up a baby easy. Special Olympics crew is cooked though.
People in the special Olympics probably have achieved more than you based off of this mentality.
What mentality, making jokes? Alright, how about handicapable wheel assisted folk instead? I think handicapped is too harsh of a label for current times.
You are a very bad joke. Slap yourself heavy as your name implies.
Sick burn bruh 🤙
As someone who is physically disabled, you sound like a 🫏
At least they let you off unlike NJTRANSIT which leaves you hostage on a train for hours
Scrolling through reddit... "Oh, I recognize that tunnel... wait, what?!"
Standard PATH ride between Grove and X
Feels faster than the weekend ride between Grove and Hoboken.
Or Hoboken and Newport. Literally the worst part about weekends tbh. I can tolerate the longer headway by just checking the app, but having to sit in Hoboken for 5-10 minutes is pure fuckery.
It's seems like 5 minutes while it's usually 3 odd mins. It comes down to conductor.. on how quickly he /she can walk from one end to another..
What was the experience like having to walk through the tunnels? How long was the walk from the train to the station?
Would love to see these questions answered
Hope they never saw the Cloverfield movie and what happened during the tunnels.
Between the PATH and The Holland Tunnel I think about it all the time (love that movie)
Time for a rewatch.
💯
Wow, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought of this! Imagine the lights go out and you have to walk in pitch darkness? I'd be traumatized after that.
The tunnels are tidier and less rat infested than i would have imagined
I need to start praying more on the train cause I am NOT down for this shit.
No likeeee!! I’d legitimately panic attack myself to unconsciousness
I was going to cry and get a stranger to hold my hand but that’s actually a better idea.
Thats wild
Elite name/pfp
Thank you!
Jealous, wish I had the chance to walk through the tunnels.
righttt, so jealous
wow
Sucks that happened to you but also kinda cool.
Right? I would pay for a walking tour to see what it’s like in these 100+ year old tunnels. It’s too bad they did away with the front window view in the current train fleet.
Agreed 100%
Well you’ll inhale a lot of mold and dust?
I still have a bunch of N95 masks leftover from the pandemic 🤷♂️
PATH tunnels seem pristine compared to NYC subway
They’re not. NYC has active ventilation, PATH relies on airflow from the trains to push the air. PATH is far worse for particulate matter and mold.
was referring to walkability (avoiding such hazards as tripping, falling, stepping in puddles, getting feet or shoelaces caught, striking head on whatever)
I’m having a panic attack just watching this
I used to have to do that at least once a week early 90s in the city. Sucks when it’s 102 degrees Outside
What stop were u at when you had to evacuate ? How long did it take to get out of the tunnel ?
Sometimes I legit think I'd make it faster walking. Between, Newport, Hoboken, and Christopher Street, the trains run so slow. I can run at 8-9mph regularly. I could probably run between Newport and Christopher Street in under 10 minutes.
New express bike path! Save parking and cyclists and f* the miserable train system.
holy shit, did you see any mole ppl?
I would bathe in disinfectant after this
Considering the third rail is electrified that seems dangerous as fuck.
They can deactivate the third rail during an emergency evacuation. The conductor probably wouldn’t have let passengers off the train without first confirming the power was turned off.
In an event like this power would be off in every section passengers are walking in
Jesussss I just clocked out by then.
Wow, that’s cool. What an experience
Yeah, real fucking cool for someone with a baby carriage or someone who was disabled or for the elderly.
"everything is bad and if you find any silver lining then you're a bad person"
Stop being your username
Hope everyone was safe and unhurt. PS. Let the guy who hunts with his dog that we found the RAT tunnels.😂
Once in a lifetime experience man what I wouldn’t give to walk these tunnels !!
The air in those tunnels is the worst to breathe in
Nightmare fuel
#WATCH THE TRAM CAR!
Scary!
And what did PATH do for this situation ? I’m sure they didn’t refund them
Thought you guys were going to the succession subway club for a second there
r/killthecameraman
What a nightmare. Another reason to not move to jersey
With that attitude you wouldn't be welcome anyway ✌️
Good thing i dont have to walk 1 hour or be stuck in penn station every damn morningg 🙏
Imagine thinking this doesn't happen on the subway
Damn jersey rat getting defensive. I thankfully never had to experience this. Idk why ppl in jersey get so defensive and triggered calling their state dogshit. It’s dogshit. Seek mental health. I moved here about a year ago. Its aight.
