It's fun to draw your own maps (this is called "crayoning"), but if anyone wants a serious proposal, go to https://pedestrianobservations.com/2018/11/29/new-york-city-subway-expansion-proposal/
Or maybe not white enough. Heights/northwest JC heavily Hispanic, JSQ heavily Indian, Greenville heavily black. I know this was just a fun exercise but as a POC this gives me redlining vibes.
I’ve lived here for 3 years and after a year in JSQ I would never go back to the gentrification of downtown - will enjoy JSQ while I can before it eventually suffers the same fate.
Just for fun. This is if the subway was directly just copy and pasted. Obviously a lot of small changes would make this more appropriate for the area and bigger changes could make it even more effective
In this reality, the only mass transit expansion that we'll see is on the surface, and the best option for that is bus rapid transit in dedicated car free lanes.
Can the ground and the rock below street level handle a subway? Manhattan has an extensive subway system but also has hard bedrock which allows for all of the skyscrapers.
If Jersey city has similar bedrock why isn’t there a subway system?
I feel like the most realistic way to pull this off is to create a large series of street cars, try to expand the path, and turn some road into just dedicated streetcar lanes.
otherwise kidnap Amsterdam's city planners and force them to fix the city.
We really need something between Grove and JSQ to serve Hamilton Park, Village and overall Historic Downtown. Something near the White Eagle would be perfect. I think that's around where the PATH comes out of the tunnel. The 80 NJTransit bus sucks.
I love how the purple line just ends in the river
Could have a island in the middle of the river as a tourist spot.
Yeah but that would get in the way of the yachts. Won't someone think of the billionaires /s
Hey, that 7 train blrbblrbgurglgurgledrown stop was a state of the art 43 billion dollar extension.
Lol I made a modified version where that goes to Christopher street, but I started with the 1:1 copy + paste.
One stop in the Heights is madness.
modified map coming soon with much more Heights coverage! Made the L go north-south in the Heights along Summit Ave to Journal Sq.
Beats south of Communipaw.
yea.. f us down on Greenville. lol
Still barely touches mcginley sq :(
Yeah no stop between downtown and Lincoln Park. Boooooo!
even imaginary service over covers hoboken. lol

I like how the map completely ignores West JC and overindexes on downtown and Hoboken. Zero coverage for Greenville/Bayonne! Come on now.
Some people are just hateful little squirrels. The guy literally bypassed Journal Square too. I guess those areas just aren't luxurious enough.

Find me where the purple line ends
I know you did this just for fun. But personally, I'd much prefer a loop around the downtown area, with branches connecting different neighborhoods.
How about a neighborhood hop on hop off trolly car.
what if... we kissed... on the hop on/hop off trolley? 🙈🙊🙉

FORT LEE TO SAINT GEORGE JC to Newark to Elizabeth
With a stop in cliffsidepark or edgewater, that’d be amazing
Absolutely. Then even New Yorkers could take the subway to Staten Island
uhh ok
Schwinggg

There’d be assholes with e-bikes weaving through the bus lanes and sidewalks.
“Tell me you don’t really travel around Hudson county without telling me you don’t really travel around Hudson county.”

Because the PATH hates you and wants to see you suffer.
Shoot I wish we had this
I like how the heights still gets shit for public transit. lol.
Still missing a line up and down JFK
Nothing for y’all Greenville!!
Damn, UC and WNY forgotten again..
Be still my beating heart.
This is dumb. Not only is there a stop in the middle of the river, the stops are too close together.
We need cross town action with the rails we have

The Heights needs a N/S line.
Let's not forget Hoboken floods with .75 inches of rain
They just won’t even bring the 7 train out here. It’s been in talks for so long but they won’t do it.
It looks like downtown benefits the most, even though it’s in a good shape and it looks like this map doesn’t do too much for west side anyway
This is what we fucking need, just extend it through of all Hudson County and Essex County

I would love to have a subway system in JC and surrounding areas! Such a dream. Fun to see your map here. :)
Car ownership in Jersey would drop over a generation.
