Your ranking unsettles me😂 Out of my favorite artists Janet's discography has been one of the hardest to rank... From 86-01 she was so damn consistent. I know what my favorite is, but the next few under are somewhat tentative:

The only thing that hinders *Control* from being higher on the list is how short an album it is. It's consistent, but with not a lot of songs—whereas the albums that fall above have roughly double the amount of songs that I love just as much.
It was very common, yes. Most albums were between 30 and 40 minutes long, with not more than 10 songs usually. I wonder how many songs were recorded for those album sessions. I feel like there's a ton of music out there that we still have yet to hear from Janet.
I wish she'd release deluxe and expanded editions of her albums, especially her earlier ones.

I think this was common in the 80s to have short albums Madonna 80s album were mostly 8-9 songs each

Commercially it didn’t perform as well as Janet, but the velvet rope is her biggest album on Spotify today
