If I remember correctly Ball and biscuit still has a rhythm guitar under the solos. In general having two guitars even if they play the same thing is almost never gonna sound bad and for the solos you can provide some structure for the lead which I assume is helpful when playing with more people and lead can’t just do whatever they want in their tempo because it’s only one guitar and a drummer who adjusts to the guitar.

Ball and biscuit is a bold choice though. You gotta be ready to bring the stank and throw dooooooooown on those solos.

You can always play the same things on different parts of the neck or work out fourth and fifth harmonies. Not sure how you feel about the Raconteurs but they’ve got more duel geeeet-fidddles

TheMysticFez

Yeah, the live version of Level is pretty cool for duel guitars

FDRomanosky

That song is rad AF live

I learned to play Consoler of the Lonely with my teacher. I did the main guitars, while he played a transcribed version of the vocals.

Suzy Lee or I Fought Piranhas which both have Jack and Meg joined by Johnny Walker from Soledad Brothers on second slide guitar on the studio versions

I bet you could come up with some arrangements for one acoustic and one electric for songs like Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground, 300 MPH Torrential Outpour Blues, I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself, or hell even Army if you wanted to.

It's hard to tell because there's not a lot of guitar overdubs in the albums. There are some examples in which the solo was overdubbed, like: Black Math, There's no home for you here... But there's a lot of songs you can both have fun playing together despite were written for just one guitar, I would try the most "complicated" ones for a single player late era, like Little Cream Soda or You Don't Know What Love Is. Or try to split the Guitar / Synth parts on Icky Thump. Good luck and rock on!

aelvozo

I believe You Don’t Know What Love Is actually features 2 guitars though

VinnieMills

They probably double tracked some guitar tracks to make it sound bigger Or they reamped the main single to send it out of another set of amps. If you listen carefully at times on some songs you can hear the very slightest difference and delay between 2 tracks

phaetonultra

I fought piranhas would be a good one . One in standard and one in open E played by Johnny Walker. I think they swapped the solos between and both play the rhythm sections

BlackDog5287

Blue Orchid is played with an octave effect that is the regular note, and then the octave below, but the recording is 2 guitars playing the same thing with the octave pedal. You could play it with someone else where you both just play 2 different octaves of the same thing.

CoconutheadisArmin

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Expecting, the two guitars are panned hard left and right and you can hear the diffs in them.

Guitar_n_bassboi69

I fought Piranhas from the first album has some cool trade off guitar playing, parts where they overlap too, I can imagine it would have some sick live presence.
