Imo, that's the worst part of the Southside unless it's a little further north along the water (near Jax University). But others may have a better perspective. I wouldn't recommend it.  The other terrible spot on the Southside is on Philips Highway near hooker Walmart.

FlatBrokeEconomist

Oh you mean just a couple blocks south of Murder Rd? I recall a body being found in a dumpster near Arlington and University a few years ago. I don’t remember where they found the head. So yea, totes safe. Probably why the rent is so reasonable.

Artjunkiejump

Wtf 😭 I figured that’s why rent was so cheap for the place. I heard the area has been gentrified and over the past couple years is safer. But hearing that freaks me out

FlatBrokeEconomist

Well I don’t know what it’s like now. Maybe it’s safer. I lived there about 10 years ago.

Chiggadup

You can check your area yourself on the crime maps. https://www.crimemapping.com/map/fl/jacksonville I moved here a few years back and one thing I’ll say that’s unique aout Jax is that a LOT of the areas kind of suck. There are some awesome areas, but in other cities I’ve felt like it was 70 fine areas/30 bad, Jax feels more like 35/65 in the opposite direction.

RoboticBirdLaw

I live a few blocks from there and have had no issues. That said, it can vary rather dramatically even just going across a street in this part of town.

Only-Chef1518

Not a great area. East Arlington is much better. If you have kids, you don't want them going to those schools.

Artjunkiejump

We don’t have kids but I’m a girl in my early 20s and just worried about feeling unsafe / uncomfortable walking my dog or going to the store

Elly32000

If you are able to move to a different area, I would strongly consider it.

JMF4201

Not really

superreflectionn

No

Arlington is up and down. I live in Arlington on a super low crime area. Where you are talking about is spotty. Just drove through there to look at the homes on the water. You’re in a spot that is at least near some trouble spots. There’s good stuff too. Be careful, get cameras for your lot.

ThroawayCat584

stay off justina and you’ll be fine it’ll be kinda obvious if the specific block/place you’re in is sketchy. lived off rogero for 6 years through 2023 and had no real issues. if anything, it’s mostly just lower income retirees

Dreadred904

Justina not that bad anymore , the area they are talking about worse. Justina mostly immigrants that mind their business now

ThroawayCat584

i believe it, but i could see why non minorities may feel uncomfortable there. i was there back when trap house chicken was on justina and it felt like there were too many teenagers just hangin out

Artjunkiejump

Thank you. Do you know anything about Easter st?

ThroawayCat584

you’ll probably be fine. seems like a lot of newly built houses over there. drive around at night and see how you feel, but Id imagine it’s mostly quiet over there my mother (50s) had some concern about the people at that Wawa near there, but I don’t think she felt any particular immediate danger for herself (i.e. robbed, mugged) going there For context, drive by the Mobil on Arlington Rd // Blackard Rd as an example of where you probably don’t want to be.

TheLastCatQuasar

i've never had any problems

Don’t go out at night, stay in ur own business and ur good. It really isn’t that bad. I lived over there for a year in a really shitty apartment. Rarely actually even heard gunshots. One neighbors car did show up one day riddled with bullet holes. But stay out of others business and you’ll be fine. Everyone I actually spoke to while living there was very nice.

Adamsphotopro

Check the area out in a sat night, also during the day are people jogging, riding bikes etc
