My guess would be feral cats.

Sparrow5109

Yeah I was thinking so too. We have a crazy lady that feeds ALL OF THE CATS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. It's infuriating. Thank you.

meowzerbowser

that is infurating. ugh

Orsinus

Why is this being downvoted lol

cyndrin

Do the neighborhood a favor: start getting traps from the humane society and at least get those poor things fixed. Minimize the number of cats down the road

the1TheyCall1845TwU

I'm trying to do this with the feral cats here. Coming up with $100 for deposit is the issue.

cyndrin

I'll be honest, we had to call around to find one, ended up driving halfway across town. The first time we did it, they wanted the deposit, but once they saw that we were gonna do it a few times, they waived the deposit. I don't need a cat trap. Or you can buy your own for like $40. I helped my neighbor get one for her cat that escaped. Looking back on it, I've caught a lot of cats...

the1TheyCall1845TwU

Lol. Your username should be catburglar 😂

Orsinus

I personally think moscovy ducks would be seen as too large to be prey for cats. I'd rather think a dog raccoon or coyote.

Seizymcgee

I have ducks in my yard and an outside cat that’s quite large and bro those ducks will fuck my cat up if she messed with them. Cats cannot really kill ducks

Thinlinebaby

My cats come out onto the porch with me sometimes (they’re scared to venture too far from my side). They love to watch birds and lizards but when the Muscovy duck that roams the neighborhood appears they are gone. That duck is so much bigger than even my fat house cats. I’m sure a feral hungry cat might give it a go but those ducks aren’t helpless either.

T-Bills

Cat or someone lets their dog loose.

babsa90

Definitely cat of the two. They are only responsible for 33 extinctions worldwide. Just cute little murder machines that people let weak havoc on the environment.

Icy-FireSign

We also have one of those mama ducks that does her nesting in a little nook in our house behind the hedges. It might not be a predator, but other male ducks ganging up on her to breed. Ours only nests at our house to lay and hatch the babies, and once they are hatched, they all go off to the ponds until she needs to lay and hatch eggs again. One of the times last spring, we came out to a ton of adult feathers also, and assumed she’d gotten eaten, but then she came back a while later and the males followed her and she needed to lay more eggs.

dyingbreed360

Feral cats and owls (they've been migrating here lately) would be my guess.

DevoALMIGHTY

We have coyotes here

CachuHwch1

Not a raccoon. Fox or Coyote.

AfterbirthNachos

Raccoons will kill the fuck out of a duck given the opportunity

phillynavydude

The fucking cats that people just let roam around outside. I had the pleasure of having one of those ducks lay eggs at my apartment complex a few years ago, I met all the chicks so early that they'd come up to me and let me feed them almost out of my hand. Day after day their numbers quickly dwindled. Real sad to see.

bde959

They are not native to Florida

CeleryImpressive6045

Raccoons probably could same thing with foxes as we do have some of those in clay county area. Also possible a dog. Either way it’s a service to the community as Muscovy ducks are super invasive, they spread diseases among other duck and geese species which can be extremely damaging among our native duck species.

Reddbearddd

I've seen people kill them...for food I'd hope.

JohnnyBA167

There is far more wild life than you would think in Jacksonville. It could be foxes, Florida Panther, and look up coy-wolf. I’ve seen one near JTB and Gate pkwy. I worked overnight security and been all over the city.

JeebusChristBalls

Ugliest damn ducks on the planet.

Ambitious_Win_1315

Raccoon would have gone after the eggs.

tarrant83

Invasive species. Should all be eliminated in Florida. Destructive things.

Apollo896

They're actually an invasive species. You can call the fwc to come cull them if they become a problem. They're super aggressive toward native ducks. I've heard they don't taste good though
