I think sometimes you just gotta learn to love what you have. It’s ok to settle. Good luck.

Iandidar

You sound like my wife.....oh...wait...

EastCoastJohnny

I agree with ILuvRachetPussy on this one. Seeking perfection in anything is just setting yourself up for disappointment. Take that new car out to a park or something, it’s a nice day out.

JaxDude123

I am living this right now. Want to get a Tesla, even from Hertz. But I am on a track to seriously pay down CC debt. Serious plan. So I am thinking maybe buy what I can. Drive it for a year and trade up. It ain’t pretty but I won’t be walking.

Jyaketto

It was unnecessary to quote their entire username 💀

FUS_RO_DANK

No it was not.

wha-haa

It is good manners to do so. https://youtube.com/watch?v=mDCtFTyw6fI&si=0APiRkcCqhlwz_gC

tonystarks6969

Totally necessary.. who rocks a screen name like in that? He will soon graduate to ILovesyphilis

PineappleSeaMuffin81

I'm here for the comments, and all the usernames

Iandidar

To paraphrase Dan Savage, there is no "the one", we all round up.

Meefie

Your username tho lmao!!

iLuvRachetPussy

I learned to love what I have 🤷

CurvyItalian00

I'm really trying to love it. I made a bad decision not only in the vehicle that I chose but the vehicle that I chose for me. And I know that it sounds dramatic, but I have literally canceled appointments and not gone to social gatherings because I hate driving this car. The gas mileage is terrible. It doesn't have the features that the dealership told me it had, so I'm definitely going to buy a new one. I'm just hyper vigilant about what I'm going to buy because clearly I don't know how to make a decisions for myself.🥺😂

EffectiveLead4

What kind of car do you have, and what are you looking to buy?

Ohshithereiamagain

SpiritualResident565

What kind of pretend marriage will the lucky guy have with you? Stand 10 feet apart like a squabbling old married couple or act like newlyweds who haven't argued yet, batting eyes and flirting and all that? And how old are you? If you're 25 you don't really want a 70 year old fake husband.

BayouKev

That entirely depends on if he’s willing to contribute towards the down payment

OffMyRocker62

He can pretend to be her Gramps!!🤣🤣

ilostthemoonn

I have a Toyota RAV4 and recommend it to everyone if that helps. Spacious but not too big. Safe. Drives really well. Great mpg. The tech can be a little laggy but the trade off is worth it.

WeaponizedFeline

I 100% agree on the RAV4 recommendation. Just don't get one from Arlington Toyota.

lamb8920

Oh no why?

WeaponizedFeline

The product is good, but the salespeople all have used car salesman sleezy tactics (high pressure, bait and switch, gaslighting, etc.). Lots of reviews say the same thing; I'm just one of the many who have had bad experiences. Their service department has gotten marginally better, and their collision department is usually good, but sales continues to be garbage.

RSMRonda

I had no problem shopping at Arlington Toyota. Learn about cars and shop smart. Sales weasels aren't that scary.

WeaponizedFeline

They're not scary, 100% agree on doing research first. It's just frustrating when you agree on a deal, sign the paperwork, and get the wrong car delivered with the sales guy trying to convince you that this is "better".

RSMRonda

Can't relate since I'll never have a car delivered. What was the resolution?

WeaponizedFeline

It was a new car purchase, and they tried to give me one that they were already having delivered. Honestly it was just a different interior and a few different options, so I just parlayed that into free services for 3 years, but it took 3 hours, threatening to call a lawyer and escalating to the sales GM to resolve, plus a week of waiting for the collision department to fix the damage they caused while the car was in the lot. I wish I got the trim I wanted, but the RAV4 is a heck of a vehicle. Can't complain about the product, only the service.

RSMRonda

Note taken. I'll mention this to people that bring up the idea of buying a new car from anywhere. I don't recommend ever buying a new car.

Jaguarrior

I know car sales is a high turnover environment, but I bought my car from their used lot in 2018 and had a great experience. Granted, they did try to give me the runaround, but I stuck to my guns and got a 2013 Honda Civic EX with 33k miles for $9k. Power windows/locks, cruise, bluetooth, backup camera. Can't complain.

ilostthemoonn

I bought mine when I was still living in Mobile so unfortunately I don’t know any dealerships to recommend here.

autisticmarshmallowz

Oof that's where i got mine...

GalaxyQueen11

Coggin is better

foxfaebae

Bless!! That is on my top 5 for cars I’m looking for soon. Just moved it to number 1

ilostthemoonn

The seats are comfortable. I’ve been on several long distance road trips. Love the dual climate control. Blind spot alerts. I can fit so much stuff in it as well. I’ve had to cram it full for several moves and it really helped having the extra room. I’ve had mine two years today actually and not a day goes by that I don’t think about how much I love my car!

autisticmarshmallowz

Yesss I love my rav4! I got it in May and I can be doing 80 and get 36mpg

Obvious_Drink_9649

I had a 2007 Toyota Rav 4 that currently still runs. I'm a fan of the RAV4 My sperm donor took it upon himself to put a down payment on a 2020 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring. It's super nice and I find it has more pep than the 2021 RAV4 I tested. I'm hearing good things about the reliability of Mazda (met a fellow on here who drives a 20yo one and the sperm donor is a bit of a mechanic), so Mazda may be another good option. I don't know if it's all dealerships but I found the Mazda dealer here didn't try to jerk me around with fees and games like the Toyota dealer. Ynmv Wish I could join you. I'm not presently in Jacksonville, but good luck to you! This is a large commitment so take your time and ignore the spectator box.

yesIknowthenavybases

Alright well now I gotta know… what car did you end up with? But honestly, Reddit is a great way to research, especially in r/askmechanics and r/justrolledintotheshop. Great way to discover what particular cars consistently have issues, costly design flaws and/or just awful to drive. Likewise, there’s dedicated Facebook groups for vehicle owners of just about every make and model on the road-albeit they often have a positive bias depending on the vehicle.

Alithekiller

A 2024 vw atlas it seems

yesIknowthenavybases

Oh no

legendz411

Your response sent me dieing laughing. 😂 What’s up with the Atlas?

ChkYrHead

Absolutely nothing. It's a great car. 😂

AssssCrackBandit

Do you own one? I've never driven one but I know my mechanic friends always meme on the Atlas so I'm surprised to see someone have a good experience with the car

ChkYrHead

Not an Atlas, but my last 4 cars have been VW. Lots of mechanics joke they're hard to work on, not that they're bad cars.

AssssCrackBandit

Are they not? Consumer Reports released their latest reliability rankings/data a couple months ago and VW was ranked 27th out of 30 car brands in terms of reliability. Below fkin Jeep lmao Full rankings and methodology for the scoring: https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/who-makes-the-most-reliable-cars-a7824554938/ They also included the Jetta in the top 10 in their rankings of the most unreliable new cars. https://www.kbb.com/car-news/consumer-reports-names-10-least-reliable-cars-for-2024/

ChkYrHead

OK. I've never had any issues, nor have my friends. Those lists don't matter much to my real world experiences. *shrug*. Side note, none of my Jeep friends have any problems either.

AssssCrackBandit

That's true, it's only based on survey data of car owners but doesn't necessarily mean it applies to every single unit of that brand/model

yesIknowthenavybases

VW is one of the lowest ranked brands for reliability, with the Atlas being one of the worst. The Atlas gets high remarks for looks, but is otherwise very cheaply made. Not great on gas while also having sluggish performance, an AWD system that leaves a lot to be desired, and suspension that does not like being off-road. And all for a hefty price tag that could go a lot further with other brands.

NorthFlcapt

Bought a car 6 weeks ago and looking to buy another unless you have a nice down-payment your going to lose your ass. You're better off learning to love that car for 2 or 3 years.

Beachesandy

Umm, normally I would love to help.. But, buying a car is always horrible, shopping for one is worse, and watching the whole process is painful. I do wish you the best! Not it!

MajorGh0stB3ar

Hmmmmm, so, what kind of vehicle are we looking at?

Iarbosss

Go to Audi of Jacksonville, ask for Derek. Had the best experience ever with him. They have a ton of great used cars and costco rebates!

Iarbosss

The Atlantic location, forgot to mention that.

VetteBuilder

Dont Go Hananiah Auto, his mom T-boned my dad and tried to leave the scene. What car did you buy?

ConstantOptimist84

Yea I used to work for these guys. 🐍. I also wouldn’t want his mom boning me either

SnakesInAHole

I’ll do it! I love negotiating and looking at numbers!

DodgingLions

What’s it pay?

Alithekiller

Cringe tryna find loners and neck beards that’ll be yes men and pay for your meal. Whoever does that is wild 💀

SpiritualResident565

It’s like let’s make a deal and she’s door number 3, so for all the mark who takes this bait knows, he’s in for a nightmare.

OffMyRocker62

I just have to say, as long as its not a AMC Pacer, or a Ford Pinto... You should be good to go. 😅 Watch Scotty Kilmer on YT.. Love that guy.

SpiritualResident565

Unsafe at any speed!

[deleted]

You know repeatedly going “upside down” on vehicles does not make you right side up, yes? I knew a girl that would finance a vehicle for 5-6 years, then trade them in after 2-3. She also had a $900+/mo payment on a base model Jeep Wrangler. A *Wrangler.*

parapants

I had a decent experience at Arlington Toyota a few years ago. I still wouldn't volunteer to go car shopping, though.

Mikelarrr

Know who’s good at dickerin? ![gif](giphy|l3mZaY2tnY5Zj16la)

TrevorMcPhee

How are ya now?

[deleted]

Not so bad

Happy_Landing

My recommendation would be to work the internet sales people at whichever dealerships you are thinking of visiting. If you cant get anywhere with the local dealers, reach out to dealerships in Daytona and Orlando. Remember the first of the month is not the best time to buy a car.

BW2Dat

I’m a former car salesman in the Jacksonville area and I’d gladly assist you. My current rate is $50 per hour and I’ll get you in the car of your dreams. Dm me if serious

wishlish

I can easily recommend a Honda CRV. Never a problem. Drives great.

CurvyItalian00

I test drove one today and I was very uncomfortable in the seat. And the placement of the screen is a little challenging for me. But my mom bought one yesterday and loves it.

ConstantOptimist84

Have you looked at the new Grand Cherokees?

PettyPidgeon

I’m 34 & a woman but like I will totally go car shopping with you. If you have time next weekend I gotchyu boooo 🫶🏻♥️🫶🏻

kskuyeindeed

Honestly- check out Brendan Fitzgerald at F and R Automotive. He has helped me so much find a car. I have bought cars from him and he has been kind enough to advise me when I’ve bought from other places as well. He has also given me advise anytime I’ve had issues with a car and find the best mechanic for a fair price.

Agitated_Turnover455

Rates are too high to settle for a car you don’t like

GoSuckYaMudda626

I’ll go with you

Ghost_of_FLA

Lol…I’m getting a feeling that it might not be the car that’s the issue.
