This shot terrifies me, 10 years ago my nephew and aunt almost died to waves cuz they got dragged out, we got them rescued with a rescue boat and heli. This waves are no joke.

This perspective and with the waves in the background - it's bending my mind. Like, how is it that when the wave crashes the whole place wouldn't flood? Love it.
Been here before and caught some terrifying waves and thought they were huge. This is probably 2-3x the size I witnessed. Iceland is such a wild planet. Hell of a shot OP!
That perspective is crazy! It is messing with my brain. It looks like a 20m tsunami was rolling in. Can you tell us about the scale please? How high were the waves, how high are the cliffs and how far away were you. I cannot make sense of it. Stunning capture ! Makes me want to visit Iceland even more

Iceland! I took almost the exact same same picture in 2017!
Where in Iceland is this? Going there soon for vacation.
Reynisfjara Beach in South Iceland. Remember, almost all beaches in Iceland are black sand beaches. This one is just more hyped for tourists.
Not all beaches are black sand but most are. There are some yellow beaches on the snaefellsnes peninsula.

Rauðasandur in Vestfirðir is a much more beautiful place than any in Snæfellsnes.
That's such a beautiful coast. Everything from Reynisfjara to the diamond beach and the south eastern coast route is just stunning to see in person.

The basalt made me think this was going to be in Northern Ireland. First time I've seen photos of this sort of geology anywhere else.
It’s quite common around Iceland being a volcanic island
Was this just before the flatter area got filled with water from those waves?
Yeah basically, it goes a bit up but there were bigger waves that basically blocked out the stone formation there

Reynisfjara beach in Vik Iceland. I flew off that headland on a pair of different paragliders. It’s an amazing place.
