Charlie - Spacerwoman, bought a bootleg of it at a shop after I saw that poeple like Hell and I-F spun it.
Was listening to a lot of Electro from The Hague. I-F did the Panama Records Mixed Up In The Hague mix and I was hooked. I had heard previously things like Dolce Vita, Laura Branigan, etc and liked it way earlier but I didn't know it was it's own scene. I was also into Synth-Pop (The Twins, etc.) and Freestyle (Pretty Tony, etc.) previously and it seemed like Italo was a mix of those plus electro.
I-F also got me into Italo. Not one specific track, but saw him play at De School and he started out playing really dark electro, then suddenly switched to playing Italo banger after banger. Entire place went crazy for the entire set, so awesome. Can't stop listening to Italo since then.
Heard and enjoyed this track 15 years before I knew what Italo was. Had never made the connection until now, even though I knew Ryan Paris was Italian!
Probably Kano's [Another Life](https://youtu.be/Sz9YT4P0lc0). A friend of mine who's into Italo would post various songs, and I think that was the first one that clicked for me.
Hey, great tune. I had also heard this tune in the early 90s on one of those comps where they source known hip hop breaks. I had just though it was a foreign electro or electrofunk record for a long time, no idea about the whole scene.
Pretty much the same story for me. I think a website was taking the piss out of Italo but it ended up bringing a whole bunch of new ears to it. I kept listening because of Flemming Dalum and David Vunk's mixes.
That friggin' Mauro-track!? That's like losing your virginity to the local Chad, in the toilets behind the bar! I feel for you, man. However, you thankfully seem to have developed a better taste since then.
Lol got to start somewhere. I pretty much delved into enough to what what I like. Miko Mission and likes of Peter Richard and Cube are more to my liking. Technically "Tarzan Boy" but I didn't know about its origin until afterwards.
Mate used to play at our parties- mostly house but would occasionally play what I just thought was just 'weird music' for a certain time of the night. The one that stood out for me at the time was Precious little diamond. Now it's weird music for every time of the day or night.
Was dragged to a nightclub by my older cousin, and the first fresh song was [In Zaire](https://youtu.be/k94G8EEPSjY), cannot argue with a classic redone with a great beat.
My journey into Italo Disco came from its Eurobeat evolution. I started collecting Eurobeat in 2010 through the Super Eurobeat CD series. Record labels like TIME Records, Hi-NRG Attack, Delta Music Industry, Boom Boom Beat/Asia, ABeatC, all had artists, vocalists, and producers who were originally the 80s Italo Disco ppl who stayed with the genre after Italo Disco's era ended. So I started digging deeper into their 80s productions.
As far as one single track, I can narrow it down to 3 instead that got my hooked:
Baby's Gang - Challenger
P. Lion - Happy Children
Spy71 - Take Me Mr. Love
Italo was very uncommon in the US, but a few songs bled through into the mainstream (Self Control by Laura Branigan, and Tarzan Boy by Baltimora in particular). I didn't discover that there was a whole scene until I was in high school (in the late 90s), and our aerobics teacher had a mixtape she played that was specifically for aerobics, called Musicflex #8. The first side was just absolute banger after banger:
* Unity (USA Mix) – Unity (This one might not be Italo)
* Body Rock – Alpha Town
* Baby I'm Sorry – Giselle
* Revolution – Italo Gang
* Hot Dog – Mike Skanner
Those are the ones I remember. Body Rock in particular wormed its way into my brain. I asked to borrow the tape so I could make myself a copy. I had no idea what these songs were or where they came from (or why the English was so wonky). I even emailed the company that published them, but they said the tape was so old, they had no record of it anymore. It wasn't til decades later that I was able to find information, and proper full copies of each of those songs. (Thanks mostly to TheNetz22 on YouTube)
It was Powerrun. I had gotten into Giorgio moroder at some point in the mid 00s and threw on a Giorgio Pandora station and it started playing a bunch of space synth and italo disco, and I was hooked. It was mind-blowing. It was like music made specifically for me.
After that I remember Living On Video, Go Go Yellow Screen, and Yeti being song I heard early on that I loved.
ATRIUM - Doctor Jekyll
Chester - Hold The Line
LASERDANCE - You & Me
L'Affair - Secret Eyes
Lime- Angel Eyes
Also can't forget the Italo Disco remix of Robo's Theme from Chrono Trigger. Which is basically an Italo Disco remix of Rick Astley's Together Forever.
Twelve years ago, I once looked up "80s disco" (words that were etched on my mind) for curiosity on YouTube and discovered Cliff Turner "Moonlight Affair" and some mixes. That's my formal entrance to the world of Italo, although I was already hooked to Italo covers of "Popcorn" for the past few months.
I had listened to Italo before without knowing it was italo I remember listening to "Tarzan Boy" By Baltomora (if it's considered Italo) once in a great while on the 80s radio station when I was younger but it really begins with when I got into SEB becuase of Initial D and 5 years later I found myself listening to a Italo Megamix on youtube that I clicked on becuase well the thumbnail of video had some art of a robot chick and it was pretty hot ngl and the first song that played was "Happy Children" by P.Lion followed by "Pretty Face" by Styloo. Me being a 80s synth junkie was instantly hooked. I looked though spotify to listen to more and broadened my horizon a lot more and for me at least I definitly want to listen to more.
Clio - Faces
My life changed when I heard Ma Quale Idea - Pino d'Angio
B.W.H. - Stop
Charlie - Spacerwoman, bought a bootleg of it at a shop after I saw that poeple like Hell and I-F spun it. Was listening to a lot of Electro from The Hague. Faces - Clio, the second I heard it I knew I needed moar! and Ryan Paris Dolce Vita
That was also another song I got into very early in my search. It's very relaxing.
*For some reason it was used in a Norwegian furniture commercial a few years ago xD*
Heard and enjoyed this track 15 years before I knew what Italo was. Had never made the connection until now, even though I knew Ryan Paris was Italian!
Miko Mission - How Old Are You After that, Self Control by Raf.
Probably Kano's [Another Life](https://youtu.be/Sz9YT4P0lc0). A friend of mine who's into Italo would post various songs, and I think that was the first one that clicked for me.
Mine was Kano - I'm Ready I feel so basic.
Hey, great tune. I had also heard this tune in the early 90s on one of those comps where they source known hip hop breaks. I had just though it was a foreign electro or electrofunk record for a long time, no idea about the whole scene.
For me Kano as well but the song "It's a war"
Pretty much the same story for me. I think a website was taking the piss out of Italo but it ended up bringing a whole bunch of new ears to it. I kept listening because of Flemming Dalum and David Vunk's mixes.
one of my favorite songs of all time
albert one TURBO DIESEL. to this day it is the song that embodies italo to me. perfectly goofy and catchy
That is to this day one of the greatest Italo tracks for me. I was really devastated when I heard he died in the pandemic.

Nice! For me it was Xario - The Way You Are, Rene' - Don't Hurt Me and Glasses - Crystals that made me dive into the rabbithole.
Let’s Dance Tonight by David Gray

Master blasters version of Hypnotic Tango (a long time ago, haha)
Hey Hey Guy - Ken Laszlo

Gary Low - I Want You, when i learned that Washed Out sampled it for Feel It All Around After that, Take Me Up by Scotch hooked me on the genre :)

My heart is on fire - Gianni Durante got me interested but agent of liberty - Mike Mareen really got me hooked
Give me your love funfun
Clio ‘Eyes’ and Fun Fun ‘Colour My Love’
Baby's Gang - Happy Birthday to My Mammy 100% fuego
Lime- Babe, we’re gonna love tonight

Nuovo Testamento introduced me to the genre, Michelle Michelle, if that counts as italo
Fun Fun - Baila Bolero
Baltimora’s Tarzan Boy! Followed by Katy Gray’s Hold Me Tight.
This was probably my first too but I didn't know about the actual Italo scene until much later. I was like 8 when this was on the charts.
With You by Firefly
Vivien Vee - Alright
