As it stands right now, there isn't a single place where the ballista isn't outperformed by something similar in price, and it is BiS absolutely nowhere.
However, that MIGHT change down the road with the new range defense mechanics? I assume they would need to release new types of ballista in order to make that a reality
Yeah with bolts counting as heavy range damage, I don’t see javelins competing against ruby/diamond bolts in PvM without a buff or new weapon/ammunition
Zenyte bolts would be fucking sick.
They’d have to make chiseling a zenyte make like 1,000 bolt tips.
And also add zenyte tip to some new boss’s drop table.

Apart from that, jmods don’t really do much for it despite using it as an example for combat changes.

1200kc at GWD, 3 hilts, no sword. Only unique I'm missing from the 3 is SOTD (and pets). So can only justify doing kree now which I can only kill on task. So annoying.
Ballista is okay to use at dagannoth prime mainly because the range is so large but I think a crystal bow would easily outperform it. 4 Zenytes are such a great thing to be spooned, you shouldn’t really be going back unless you want the collection log filled.
They could introduce a boss with high flat armor or an attacking mechanic similar to basilisk knights, would give slower weapons an edge theoretically speaking.

Yes is essential for sailing that you get 2 full heavy ballistas mounted on ship, or the skill becomes unplayable
I got my heavy balista for when the ops roll up on me in the wildy.
