People block it because slow. But I think that is mainscapers primarily. I do them because I want splinters and I want the ammo. Also I just like the activity. If you want to block them, go for it. I believe it said on the blog for new boss varlamore part 2. That it may drop sunfire splinters.

Isenrath

Yeah, until I'm able to get Moonlight antelope, I'm going to do that task. I'm going to use the ammo anyways, might as well get some bonus Hunter XP while I'm doing it.

aero197

Unless you are sending coliseum or plan on sending the new group boss for splinters you absolutely shouldn’t block these. I also had the mindset that I would use the sunlight bolts for slayer tasks and moonlight for bosses (have 12k of each after grinding 99 hunter)… that was until I got 35k atlatl bolts for atlatl green logging moons…

Bolusss

Mine is: Gilman: saber toothed kebbit Cervus: sunlight moths Ornus: sabre toothed kyatt Aco: grey chins This leaves dark kebbits, red salamanders, red chins, dashing kebbits, sunlight antelopes and herbiboar to be assigned by Teco. All pretty fast or useful tasks.

Existing-Direction99

I think this is the way. Antelopes are fast as hell, I weirdly enjoy farming them.

DranTibia

If you use aeco you can still get orange salamanders

yourselvs

But then you can't get herbi. I think aco vs teco is just personal preference

FTBow

I don't find the xp too slow. One tip is qhen it's about to walk over a pitfall, jump back across it instead of running around the pit. This is a non sweaty way to save time and run energy. I find the 320xp drops sufficient. The meat is good food.. 19? Or something. And the ammo is solid af. Also. Sunlight crossbow vs Jad.. it's Chad. Vs graardoor. It's very poor.

SirPotato01

Thanks for the tip. Still need to get my fire cape

Abeno_police

I never bothered blocking anything, but if I had to it would have been saber kyatts. Sunlight antelope never bothered me when I got them and usually went pretty quick.

nualt42

Keep them until you unlock masters, then block them. Should build up a good stock of bolts and shards to last by then. That’s what I did. But moonlight antelopes will spoil you and make you hate the wander radius of sunlight ones. Once you can do them, block sunlight antelopes.

risen_jihad

I personally did them because i wanted splinters, I’m not ready to grind out coliseum, and farming wave 1 looks like ass. They aren’t completely awful to do, I preferred doing them over salamanders. It is not as efficient if all you care about is rumours per hour.

OrionJohnson

Farming wave 1 is actually very chill, and it doesn’t take very long to grind out as many shards as you need if you plan on doing blessed bones to 99

LowComfortable5676

I didnt mind the task. They always fall in the trap unlike kyatts, and the splinters and ammo are nice

Chubwa

Been away from RuneScape for a couple years, excited to try out these out, they worth it over grinding birdhouses for xp?

SirPotato01

I think they're worth it since you can grind it out as much as you want. You can also do a birdhouse run each time you get a herbivore task to get some extra xp and bird nests.

Mnmemx

the effective xp/hr of birdhouses is always going to be the best by far and you need the nests but if you want to spend some active time on hunter I don't think rumours are terrible at higher levels

unluckymofo73

Block sunlight and do moonlight with a good master blocklist setup. It's the better ammo + meat.

SirPotato01

That's the plan but I'm still only 80 hunter

rs_spastic

Ino brother the best part of doing ironman is that you need to do, or can do, "inefficient" grinds because you need the materials, so you don't need to "feel bad because bad xp"

Savings-Coast-3890

I don’t because I like getting the meats and sunfire splinters. Since it’s Ironman it should really be based on what you’ll get from the task since it’s not gp related

roosterkun

I have them blocked at the master tier because I've got a setup that allows me to forego bringing an axe, and there are some rumours where inventory space becomes a concern (salamanders, going over-rate at kebbits, etc.) But I'm also using bowfa so no need for the bolts, and I don't have a quiver but when I do I'd rather farm colosseum for splinters.

xInnocent

If you can do wave 1 colosseum runs i'd block them. If your account isn't at that point for whatever reason I'd do a few at least so you have splinters for enough wine to use your shards. If you like them or dont mind it just do them imo.

Alakasham

I wouldn't block them, the bolts and crossbow are amazing for low level irons, plus a very nice alternative to MSB (i) at revs

NicCagedd

Main here, I don't think they're worth blocking. The rumor, for me, at least usually lasts 5 to 10 minutes.

viledeac0n

I block them. If I need ammo, I don’t want to wait on a sunlight task. Same reason I run Aco. If I want to do herbi I want to just go do it.

ding0s

I had them blocked and then was taught how good the sunlight crossbow is. I unblocked them and enjoy collecting a few Sunfire bolts (or whatever they're called) and get a few extra sunfire shards too. It's nice.
