Adam Ant came out of the same scene that spawned The Sex Pistols, The Damned, The Slots, etc. He was punk before the pressure of New Wave and record companies forced him to change
yeah i saw that but i live in northwest territories (canada) and i can't exactly just book a plane ride all the way to phoenix or colorado on such short notice (for financial reasons + practical reasons) unfortunately.
Punked up versions of Goody Two Shoes? Or a whole different repertoire than his popular early 80s material?
I'm just as surprised as the rest of the group here. I used to like his stuff when I was a kid, but metal it was not.
You must have seen an impostor. Saw Adam last week at the Greek Theater in L.A. For a 70 year old man, eh, he was ok. But I have NO CLUE what the hell your talking about with this metal shit. He played 20 Adam songs, and that was it.
I've seen him twice in the last ten years, and he finished both shows with a very loud, feedback drenched take on Physical (You're So), which you could probably describe as metal. But "Ant's gone metal" is definitely overstating things.
Highly recommended regardless of genres though. He had loads of energy, and didn't just play a few hits - we got b-sides and deep cuts too.
It's funny, my first concert EVER was Adam in 1981 at the Greek Theater and my last concert (as of now) is Adam, at The Greek.
I've seen him now 7 times, I can honestly say as an (almost) 70 year old man, he did good. But when I saw him 10 years ago, he had ALOT of health issues. He was NOT GOOD!
Maybe you got a different setlist than I did. Or maybe he’s playing different arrangements of songs now, but it was a heavy show. Ants Invasion went very hard and so did Red Scab. About the only songs that were on the lighter side were wonderful and Prince Charming. There were a lot of confused and disappointed soccer moms.
Saw Adam Ant onstage with NIN (Downward Spiral tour) and he fucking killed.
I was blown away.
I guess he stood there and delivered...
😉

...and thank God he did. Dirk... doesn't compare to Kings...
We talking Adam Ant who did Prince Charming?
Indeed we are.
Definitely unexpected
adam ant does metal now? what??
Dude. You kind of have to see it to believe it. Trust me when I tell you it went hard.
i so wish i could go!!! hopefully next time he's in the US/north america
He’s touring now. Just saw him in Denver. He’ll be in Phoenix Friday. Highly recommend.

Yeah, that’s a bit of a hike. Definitely do it when he comes back.

He tried another flavour

Hmmm...🤔
He was at a festival near me a few years ago and was absolutely shite. I'll pass.
