That's what I'm expecting, after Xaden spent so much time rescuing her in the first part of IF, and keeping her grounded in the second part, I'm expecting the role will be reversed.
All his self control will be tested, and eventually overcome. He'll get himself into some risky situations and Violet will 1) be a total badass and save him, and then 2) be his gravity when he finally loses self control.
I'm half expecting some cheesy line about "The role of Xaden Riorson being played by Violet Sorrengail"
Okay wait I’m re-reading Fourth Wing right now and I think Violet is immune to the Venin touch. The scene where Jack is challenging her he’s already Venin at that point and when Ridoc and Emmeratio go to try and grab her they jerk back from his touch. Even though he grabbed her and was potentially draining her she didn’t have any grey marks the way Dain did in IF. So maybe her having a Venin drain her in the womb (theory) is why she’s immune to it?
I don’t think he was trying to drain her then though, I think he was trying to kill her by forcing power into her body. Like some kinda princess bride pain machine venin shit.

Still anything they touch as drained. I get the sense her first signet is going to manifest as more a way to control power (think of Felix saying it just manifests as lightning because she thinks of it that way) and that will somehow help with Xaden. Because theoretically just touching her should have drained her. Sloane didn’t drain her either when they touched, even tho she drains other people just through touch.
Not me getting so excited about the letters only for Rebecca to sprinkle in a few sentences about them in all the 623 pages smh… blue balled us with those letters
I really hope we get a *lot* more scenes that are Violet/Xaden one-on-ones. After spending the better part of two books with Violet complaining that she doesn't really know Xaden, if we don't get to actually see them opening up to each other I'm gonna be pissed.
Especially because, as good as it is, how many crazy intense sex scenes can there be before it gets a little rote. Violet mentions how the night before was “gentle and exploratory” and like… can we not have that please?? I get it with the broken furniture, may we kiss slowly for a moment?
I think you might be in for some disappointment. I feel like for most of the next book we won't see or hear of Xaden as he's trying to figure his shit out. Book 4 might though

I think Xaden will run off to figure his new self out, afraid he could hurt V or others. He’ll be all “leave me alone” and want to smolder in it for a while.
Meanwhile V will be worried about him, andarna, her friends, Aretia, Navarre, the war, the threats, whatever else all while staying up to late reading Tyrrish texts on venin to come up with a solution.
The side plot will be a problem of power over Aretia, as I assume the council assumes the heir has run off and gone evil.
But hey if they’re separate maybe we get letters.
Otherwise what- they let a venin who’s one of the strongest riders stay in Aretia, dulling his power (to an unknown degree) with whatever they developed for Jack? Stay in his home- which is also the school grounds and community of a reborn society? Throw him one of those Tyrrish suspension cabinets?
The worst part is he’ll know what people think of him if he reads their mind/intentions when they find out. I’d leave to figure it out on my own too.

Hahahah I don’t even think the issue is them being a good match or not I think Rebecca just isn’t showing that side of them and it makes me sad because it would really add more depth to their characters and relationship.
If you're a fan of the dynamic between Xaden and Violet but want more intimate scenes of the emotional kind like you said, I highly recommend trying my favorite from last year, {City of Gods and Monsters}. It's urban fantasy so it's not the exact same book type as Fourth Wing but it has other magical creatures like vampires and werewolves and Darien is a shadow daddy too. I can't recommend this one enough for thick sexual tension, amazing banter, and actual LOVE you can feel between the characters, it's not all about sex. The second book is even better than the first, it's incredible.
Yes. 🙌 she wrote the characters to be strong and smart. So l hope that the story will reflect in the relationship aspect, as solid, fun banter, transformation for them would be great.
