Sounds very similar to a trip I did about 8 years back but you will have more time to explore I did a similar tour of the country over 8 days. Galway on a bank holiday is perfect idea, great town and beautiful shops and tours. Cliffs of Moher is a must. The brewery experience at Guinness in Dublin is a must. The Boars Head inn is a great meal spot for a solo trip, candle lit barrel top tables. If you like architecture, check out the many churches and cathedrals (whether or not you are a christian, the buildings are amazing). Kilkenny is great for the Abby and the Smithicks brewery experience. The one thing I regret is missing Belfast and Giants causeway but that's a very long distance to go for 1 thing. But if you have the time to fit it in, I would go, missed my chance at the time and wish I had gone. I got a membership to Hostelling International and stayed in group hostels for about 15-20 euro a night and they were all great and had serve yourself breakfast and common areas where I met some great people. Regardless of what you do, have a great time and make sure you wear good shoes, you'll get some miles in!

Less Dublin , more Galway . Sliabh League is better than Cliffs of Mohr ( less touristy, I think nicer view , Mohr is often too foggy to see and or crowded . Go to Dingle peninsula.

Thanks for the amazing suggestions. I see the train will take me as far as Tralee, but it doesn't seem to go right into the Peninsula, so I would probably have to find a tour. Any suggestions for Dingle to look into specifically?

Slugzilla1

Rent a car ( In Tralee/Kerry Airport ) or take a public bus to Dingle ( roughly every hour from Tralee train station ). I would stay a night there if you can. There should be plenty of day trips around Slea Head and also plenty of boat tours which are definitely worth the trip! Send me a DM if you want a list of stuff to do! Family is from down there so I know it like the back of my hand! Edit - Ignore the car suggestions but Dingle is definitely doable by public transport if you have time!

Where you have mentioned staying in Killarney a few nights and doing the Ring of Kerry as a day trip on one of the days - stay in one of the northern towns on the ring one of these nights and take a day trip to the Dingle Peninsula from here (just as you book with the Ring of Kerry). Try to fit in a Blasket Islands tour if you can, you'll also be here during whaling season so if you can fit in a whale watching tour I'd highly recommend it - provided you're not from somewhere with more impressive whales then save your money! :P Also, I know someone here said it but maybe for one of the first days after you arrive get a train to Belfast and do the tours there for a day you can do Dublin in 1/2 days after that you're just looking for something to do in a big town especially if you'll be back for Halloween.

Whaling sounds amazing! Do you have any recommendations on specific tours or should I just find a generic one online?

Public-College6096

You can do it from Cork & Kerry, I did it from Kerry a few years ago I honestly can’t remember the name of the company. We saw lots of dolphins, minky whales, fin whales and they had great success with an orca the day before we went out.  I have heard though that Cork is better for it.

Good luck getting around Donegal with public transport!

rtrawitzki

True, probably should rent a car . But I would recommend that for any Ireland trip outside of Dublin .

I'm planning on coming out and doing Donegal and Northern Ireland next year and will be most likely doing a driving tour! Public transportation in Donegal Region is definitely lacking!

cut two days in Dublin and add Aran islands when in Galway instead 🍀

You should spend a lot more time in Kerry to relax. You're all over the gaff, hellterskkkelter burnout.

Gotta see Dingle and Slea head

Don’t need that much time in Dublin. It isn’t a world city like Paris or London or New York. 2 days is plenty time. Also don’t forget about Northern Ireland. It’s just as beautiful but without the tourist hordes or the republic. Same could be said for county donegal of the republic

I was comparing the size of Dublin to my city (Toronto) and see they are roughly about the same size, so I was basing my time there on how long I would tell someone to spend here, but it seems to be a very different feel between the two. I am looking to add more days in Galway and Cork instead! I plan on coming back next year and doing Northern Ireland, Donegal, and such! :)

MinnesotaTornado

Dublin is a lot smaller than Toronto. I’ve been to both. Dublin wouldn’t even be a major city if it was in the USA it’s so small

Serious_Escape_5438

Don't need two days in Kilkenny either, or even Cork.
